Forms :: Excel Charts / How To Set Title And Labels

Apr 13, 2012

im still trying to create workcharts into an Excel sheet (see thread "How to create pie chart in Excel sheet"). I could not be able to create pie chart, but I got to create a histogram chart. Now, I wish to customize labels and legend.

The issue is that the data range is made by non-contigouous cells, and some of them are merged. So, I tried to create by hand a pie chart, and this is the code behind:

Sub Macro1()
'
' Macro1 Macro
'
'
Sheets("SUMMARY COSTS 2011-2012-2026").Select

[code]....

how can I implement this code in Forms 10g using OLE2? In details, how does SeriesCollection work?

Application Express :: Chart Axes Labels Under The Tick Marks

Mar 14, 2013

I'm trying to create a histogram based on time range using a bar chart. I made the query correctly and the bar chart displays the histogram.

However I want to make the axes labels on the x-axis go under the tick marks of the axis. Right now they are under the corresponding bar. This doesn't convey the notion of a range. For e.g. if I have 23 observations between 10 and 20 seconds, I need to show 10 on the left of the bar and 20 on the right. In other words the bar is between two tick marks. I want to show 10 under the left tick mark and 20 under the right tick mark.

How do I do this? I tried using the attributes of the label tag under x_axis in the chart xml, but couldn't get it to work.

Application Express :: Pie Charts Not Displaying

I just upgraded from APEX 4.1.1 to APEX 4.2.2All is good, but I can't create pie charts.  Pie Charts never worked for me, but I waited until 4.2.2 to try again.  Still will not work. I imported the workspace from my previous APEX version,so something must not be set correct in my workspace.  I can create the pie chart on apex.oracle.com

Issue is : In Shared Components -> Report Queries : Its only expecting an SQL Query.

Do we have any ways to define a "Function Returning SQL Query" over here ? Note that, If using a static SQL both charts / BI reports are working fine with out any issues.

Application Express :: XML From Directory To Generate Charts

Jul 17, 2013

I have a requirement create graphs, charts and maps based on data from a data warehouse (dw).

As I see things, there are two possibilities: Graphs, charts and maps based on an XML fileGraphs, charts and maps based on Oracle tables Both would contain small data sets that will allow for quick response.

The intent of these graphs, charts and maps is to generate a dashboard that would allow the user to quickly drill down to the desired warehouse data. The proof of concept has already been validated using the Oracle table scenario.

My question is whether or not this could be accomplished reading xml files for generating the same set of dashboard items?  My Oracle database and APEX environments configuration are as follows:

NLSRTL  11.2.0.1.0  Production Oracle Database 11g Enterprise Edition 11.2.0.1.0    64bit Production PL/SQL 11.2.0.1.0   Production TNS for Solaris: 11.2.0.1.0

An Oracle database directory has been setup and is accessible to our APEX application.

I just upgraded my APEX 4.0 application to 4.2, and ran the utility to upgrade my charts to HTML5. After completing the upgrade, I noticed my charts no longer displayed in the region.

I am currently using IE9 to view the application, since that's the browser over 90% of my users have. Is there something more I need to install?

Application Express :: Multiple Overlapping Series In Charts

Oct 11, 2012

whether the overlapping Multiple series charts are possible in Oracle APEX or not .

I am trying to create two graphs for two data sets , one as marker and another as line , but its giving me issues such as

1) X axis is taking all the points of the first series suppose(
1,5,10,180) itsplotting these first . and its then starting labeling
the x-axis for another one which has values like
(20,50,100,1000,15000)

so my X-axis is now ---> 1,5,10,180, 20,50,100,10000,150000

In case i make my marker chart series as the 2nd sequence , then its drawing all the markers on the right side of the chart .

[URL].........

Workspace:- NR_WORKSPACE
Username:-user1
password:- H123$

whether this thing is achievable in oracle apex or not , is there any work around ?

Application Express :: How To Prevent Screen From (Jumping) During Report Refresh

May 4, 2013

I'm using Apex 4.2.1 against Oracle 11gR2 and mod_plsql.I've created a page containing two classical reports and an editable tabular form, with the form needing to be positioned at the page bottom.

The tabular form contains the usual buttons Apex creates by default such as "Add Row", "Save", and "Delete". Whenever users click any of these buttons, the entire page "jumps" and the mouse cursor goes to the very top of the page. Very disconcerting as well as frustrating since users must constantly scroll down to where the form is to see if a row was added or deleted.

I have set the tabular form region to "Partial Page Refresh". No effect.I have also created a dynamic action triggered on a button click (say the "Add Row" button) and whose action is to refresh the specific tabular form region. Again, no effect.

Even with both of these interventions, implemented individually as well as in combination, still has my page jumping and the mouse cursor at the top of the page whenever users click any of these form buttons.

how to prevent such screen "jumping"?

Application Express :: Prevent Interactive Report From Running Query On Initial Page Load?

Oct 1, 2012

I am on APEX 4.1.1, db 11g and I have a report which is quite slow to retrieve results from its query. The page has some filter fields (e.g. store code, dept code) in addition to the generic search field.

When the user lands on this page (from a menu page), the query runs before the page displays and this typically takes 1-2 mins without any filters yet set. The usual browser loading indicators are not obvious to the user and they might not be aware that it is working on the request.

I want it so that it will only run the query AFTER allowing the user to get to the page, let the user fill in some filter criteria and then click on the GO button. Therefore the query will run after the page is submitted. When you hit the GO button on the interactive report, a nice rotating apex_loader.gif appears, making it obvious to the user that it is working on the request.

I would prefer NOT to create 2 pages, one for user filter, and a second for the actual report as I have many reports/inquiries which fit this category and I would prefer NOT to have to create pairs of pages for each.

SQL & PL/SQL :: Update Complete Flag Most Recent 2 Rows By Category

Jul 29, 2013

I would like to update the complete flag of all the rows of a table except the most recent two rows of each category.

The table has fields like:
category - string,
item - string,
creation_date - string ('YYYYMMDDHHMI'),
complete_flag - boolean,
etc.

Each category does not have the same amount of records with the same creation_date so I do not want to filter by creation_date. Is there a way to accomplish this?

SQL & PL/SQL :: Convert String Of Flags Into List Of Labels

1 - Bananas
0 - Oranges
1 - Apples
0 - Tomatos
0 - ..
0 - ..
1 - Kiwi
0 - Others

What I want to do is, translate '10100010' into the string '(Bananas,Apples,Kiwi)' using SQL-only. As a bonus it would be nice if the string is completely empty if all flags are '0', so no '()'.

SQL & PL/SQL :: Combining Data From Same Table?

Jan 17, 2011

I'm having some trouble combining some data. I've done a lot of research into joins and merges, nothing really seemed to do what I needed. I could be over thinking it.

Basically, I want the query to look at the "info" table from a specified time-span (1 to 7). I want it to look at the source of the data and if it is "one_better" always use that data for that specific time. Otherwise, return the data from "one". The results don't care about the source of the data.

The "info" table I'm working with looks like this:

TIMEDATASOURCE
1DATA1one
1DATA1betterone_better
2DATA2one
3DATA3betterone_better
4DATA4one
4DATA4betterone_better
5DATA5 one
7DATA7one

I would like the results to look like this:

TIMEDATA
1DATA1better
2DATA2
3DATA3better
4DATA4better
5DATA5
7DATA7

1/1/2004 5/3/2006
1/1/2007 1/4/2008
1/1/2008 6/3/2009

as you see records 1,2 and records 3,4 have overlapping dates. I need to combine them to get continuous intervals. The result should be:

start_date end_date

Combining Hash Cluster And Indexes

Oct 28, 2010

A basic select and group by query I am optimising for my Database course has returned results that indicate it will perform better on a clustered index when returning a smaller number of rows (5% of the largest table) and on a hash clustered index when returning higher volumes (50% and 80%). I understand that it is possible to use more than one index type on a table to improve performance, but I am struggling to understand how I might establish a hash cluster and a cluster on the same table? and then use hints to drive the query down one access path or the other.

VALUE), '999,999,999.9') VALUE,

PL/SQL :: Combining Identifier And Select Statement In Insert Into Command

Dec 11, 2012

Is there any way to combine an identifier and select statement in PL/SQL when using the insert into command?

e.g.

DECLARE
name := 'BOB';
BEGIN
insert into mytable(NAME, SLOWEST_LAP, FASTEST_LAP) name, (select min(time), max(time) from lLAP_TIMES);
END;

In the above statement I am trying to insert the identifier "name" (BOB) into MYTABLE.NAME, along with the result of the select query from the table LAP_TIMES ... min(time) into MYTABLE.SLOWEST_LAP, and, .... max(time) into MYTABLE.FASTEST_LAP.

If the above is possible in one statement how would I also combine an identifier, with two select statements into an "insert into" statement?

e.g.

name := 'BOB';
insert into mytable(NAME, SLOWEST_LAP, FASTEST_LAP, EVENT) name, (select min(time), max(time) from LAP_TIMES), (select race_event from MEET);

In the above example I am also trying to insert the result from MEET.RACE_EVENT into the column MYTABLE.EVENT
