Feb 6, 2013We'll soon start an upgrade of our Forms / Reports 6i Application to 11g. I was wondering, maybe, it would be nice to add some value for the upgrade process as a whole, using some of Apex new features like web mobile interface or maybe an integration between Forms an Apex, for example to provide users with the powerful features of Interactive Reports, just to name one.
I have found this interesting link: URL.... (not a 100% clear for me, but at least it is a start).Obviously, to make it attractive, one would expect automatic login between the two Apps. As far as i know, this could be done like this:
1) Using SSO. With that a Portal / Forms / Reports/ Discoverer/ version would be mandatory (too expensive for some clients).
2) Oracle Access Manager? Not sure, can Oracle Forms connect to Access Manager? or LDAP? How about the licensing costs?. Not a clue.
3) Make all Apex pages public? Not feasible.
4) Now this one: in our forms application, every user authenticates within the application and we internally map that application user to an actual database user. At all times we hold metadata info about the current user (app, and DB), as well as application context. So this is my question:
It is possible to create an Apex app, with database authentication method, and somehow pass the metadata from forms, and have a kind of custom login procedure that does all the application to DB user conversion process and application context setting?

Feb 15, 2013I am doing a simple AJAX call test with the emp table. In my page I have a search field and a report and a button. You put in a text and click search and you will get the result which all works.
I have a requirement where if you click the button and there is no matching search you will get redirected to another page, else just reload the report to display the result as usual.
So I took the AJAX route where I am running a concurrent search when user enters a text and clicks the button. If the search count(*) > 0 then return return count else return 0.
The code for application process is:

i am testing this code in Firebug and when I do a console.log(gReturn) on the output of the AJax call I am getting this error which stops me from processing the result of gReturn and finish off the code. The error looks like:

Application Express :: Dynamic Action Call From An Interactive Report?
Jul 6, 2012I’m on APEX 4.1, 11gR2, Windows 7 and the latest version of Firefox. I have an interactive report. I want the end user to have the ability to click on a row level link and launch a modal pop up view of another page. Ideally, I'd like to be able to use the Skillbuilders plug-in. I can get it to work if I just go the full page route but I cannot figure out a way to get it to work as a modal pop up. I’ve tried various methods, none of which work, but the one I believe I should be following is by using a page level Dynamic action that fires when a JQuery Selector found item is clicked. The problem I’m having is that I cannot find the correct JQuery Selector syntax for the column. My report has a static ID of IDN and my column a header of PARTS. The best I can manage is not to see anything happen other than a page refresh (when the link is set to the same page). I do not see and firebug console errors.
I’ve replaced the dynamic action modal page call with an alert, which is not showing, to make sure that it's not the plug-in configuration that is causing the problem.
what I should be filling in in the JQuery Selector field of the DA and what the link attributes should be? Given that I wish to redirect from page 1 to page 2, what do I put in the other link fields?

i want to generate Ids for the following. for that i created query for INSERTING RECORD FROM ONE TABLE TO ANOTHER , generation the ids when button pressed "Generate" after selecting parameters,
Now where i call that QUERY on button ? because when i create button its gives me option to submit, defined dynamic action, etc, where i call the function name id_generation when button pressed?

By default check box list are create delete submit button are created, first when i insert record it saves that was fine, e.g i entered 50 records and afterward i want to update only one record, e.g there is a record product name = box, if i change it to box small and click submit then it saves all the page means all 50 records,
I want to submit only that record that i changed, for that i use the logic that only those records should be updated which are checked but the user. how will i do this ?

in these boxes I want to make them numbers only and max length 2
currently I have in the ELEMENT ATTRIBUTES for each column

( I have a function called numbers only in page 0 )
what I would like to do , to make it more maintainable is to remove all the calls in the element attributes of each column
and put it in 2 dynamic actions how would I go about this ?
I have tried using jquery selector of input:text to call javascript code on both events , Get focus and Key Press for every text box but its not working .
Forms :: Open File JavaBean For Web Deployed 6i?
Feb 5, 2008I want to use dialog for selecting file in Fomrs 6i.I attached d2kwutill.pll into form, i uploaded d2kwut60.dll into <ORA_HOME>/bin and coded WIN_API_DIALOG.OPEN_FILE to open file. Everything works fine on the machine I'm developing, the open file dialog works and it returns file name. But when i upload form on remote machine where i access through the web it won't work.
I uploaded d2kwutil.plx on remote machine to the directory where forms reside. This is when I attach library without storing full path of it which is in my case c:someFormsDir - note! on remote machine Forms reside on d:Forms, and on local machine I have only c: HDD D: is cdrom and i can't change drive letters.
I also try to upload d2kwutil.plx in c:someFomrsDir on remote machine although forms there reside in d:Forms, but on local machine library(and forms) reside in c:someFormsDir.
None of two above examples work.
I upload d2kwut60.dll in <ORACLE_HOME>in direcotry - doesn't work. I even upload d2kwut60.dll in orahome2in direcory, doesn't work. On my local machine d2kwut60.dll is in ORA_HOMEin where ifsrv60.exe can be found, the same i do on remote.
When I puch button to open dialog for choosing file Internet Explorer freezes.
Forms :: How To Call Any Application (EXE) From Menu
Oct 1, 2012I called an application from Oracle forms using: Client_Host('cmd /c START "" "\localPathmyApplication.exe"'); This works fine on local as well as server.
But when I use the same command to call the application directly from the MENU ITEM, it gives error alert: "WebUtil Error: oracle.forms.webutil.host.Host bean not found. WEBUTIL_HOST.Execute will not work."
I even tried using DDE.App_Begin(). This gives error: ORA-106561. How can I call any application (.exe) directly from the menu item on the server?

Apr 1, 2013We have a occi application which is linked dynamically to occi lib on Solaris. Now during build we linked it with occi of Oracle 10.2.0.4 client but we want the same build to be able to run under Oracle 10G client as well as Oracle 11G client. But it seems that occi is not forward not backward compatible as name of dynamic occi lib has a version in it.
e.g

Application Express :: Pass Header Variable From OAM To Apex And Read It In Application?
Mar 4, 2013We have integrated Oracle Access Manager 11gR1 with Oracle Apex 4.1. The OAM-Apex integration is working fine. Now we want an additional header variable to be passed from OAM to the Apex application. This new header variable will be user's sAMAccountName in Active Directory. OAM is integrated with AD and the AD users are successfully able to access the Apex applications.
The three header variables which are configure in OAM right now are:
Header variable name Value
1. OAM_REMOTE_USER $user.userid
2. OAM_REMOTE_USER_EMAIL $user.attr.mail
3. OAM_REMOTE_USER_GROUPS $user.groups
We need an additional header variable as mentioned below:
Header variable name: OAM_SAMACCOUNTNAME
Value: $user.attr.samaccountname
The new header variable was added in the OHS server's dads.conf file like shown below:

Application Express :: Multiple Application Setup Using Session Sharing Within Workspace
Jan 24, 2013I have multiple application set-up using session sharing within the workspace.Technically all works fine, however it does not play nice with user behaviour.
Example:
Users logs into APP_ID:100. Since he isn't authenticated yet, he provides user/pass and the APP_SESSION is authenticated.
Now if the user switches using to another application (using a link provided in application 100) he gets redirect to APP_ID:101:APP_SESSION all is fine.
The session is already authenticated, the application shares the session and the user gains access to app 101 without having to authenticate again. All's fine!
However users don't behave they way. Instead of using an easy link in the application. They will use their own bookmark or type in the url for app 101 manually. That way the next application is either called with f?p=101:1:[SOME OLD SESSIONID FROM BOOMARK] or f?p=101 (with no further page or session info) In both cases instead of using the already authenticated session apex spawns a new session, which of course isn't authenticated yet thus forcing the user to authenticate and come complaining they have to login again.
Similar behaviour problems exists when the user opens a browser and tries to open both applications in each in a tab next to each other.Both tabs fetch there own initial session id and start writing it to the same cookie each in turn invalidating the other tab's session.These can lead to some fanatic ping pong actions. Thus it's impossible to open 2 applications sharing session in the same browser.
Is there any remedy for these situations?Can apex be as smart as for instance first trying to resume the session stored in the cookie and only if that session is invalid, start a new session?

When I was looking through various threads and guides, I've encountered checkbox corresponding array names like "g_f01" - "g_f50". And so far i saw that these names are derived from item name in generated HTML code, for example:
<input type="checkbox" name="*f10*" value="3" />
And this one stands for array name "g_*f10*".However, when I tried to do the same thing - i receive item name which looks like "*p_v04*", and therefore, I can't figure out, which array name should I choose to adress it properly.

Jul 5, 2013APEX 4.0 Sometimes, I am getting the below error when I tried to logging into APEX workspace (after giving workspace name, User name and password), Expecting p_company or wwv_flow_company cookie to contain security group id of application owner.
ErrorERR-7621 Could not determine workspace for application (:) on application accept. I found some threads related to this but in different way not exactly when I am getting this error.
After 2 or 3 times, this error will not come and I can able to logging into workspace What is the cause for this issue??

Nov 4, 2013Each time when I import an application into my workspace in local 10g XE using the APEX 4.2 Application Builder, I get the "ORA-02291, constraint wwv_flows_fk violated..". The application I whant to import was originally exported from [URL]. I found out, that it has to to with wwv_flow_application_install.get_workspace_id in the installation script, which obviously returns NULL and not my current workspace id as I suppose it should. I replaced wwv_flow_application_install.get_workspace_id by '<my worskspace id>' and then the import does work.

I had an error importing an application into Production that was exported from Development. The application exists and I was trying to replace it.
The error I received was:

Unless I'm not understanding this error it means that it can find the ACTION part that is attached to the WHAT part of this Dynamic Action? The Dynamic Action does work when the application is run (in Development)also, there are 3 others that are similar to this one. The export was created by the export utility in the Application Builder.
If I export only the page and import that into Production the import is successful and the page runs correctly. This is error is happening only when I try to import the entire Application.There are many other changes made which is why I was trying to do an Application export/import instead of individual pages.

Presently the form looks something like this and the Data for each field is rendered properly in this layout:

FIRST NAME: JON LAST NAME: DOEFIRST NAME, LAST NAME and UNIT # are all "Display Only" item type.
What I'm trying to do is to move "FIRST NAME" underneath "LAST NAME" and "UNIT #" next to "LAST NAME" This part is very simple. However, the issue I'm having is as soon as the "UNIT #" is moved next to "FIRST NAME", the data for "FIRST NAME" and "LAST NAME" simply disappear

Mar 6, 2013How do I center a button within a region? I tried 'align="center"' but this seemed to be ignored. The button is at the left of the screen. Also, what are the 'display points' (Page Template Region Position 1-8) used for, and why is there a specification for column position of 1-9? Could these be attributes that will allow my button to be centered on the window instead of on the left?
