Feb 18, 2011My problem is i install Oracle 9i enterprise edition 9.0.1.1.1 in windows xp professional but at the time of oracle database confiuration assistent it show me following errors it show:
Not a zip file(End header not found)

Nov 4, 2011The only supported technique for converting an EE database to SE is export-inport, as documented in note 139642.1. Our client is reluctant to do this because of the downtime involved. It is however possible to open the EE database from an SE home, no problem.
The note says only Quote:When you just install the Standard Edition software, you will end up with Data Dictionary objects which are of no use (or perhaps even invalid) and possibly create problems when maintaining the database.

Sep 2, 2011I am querying v$sga and getting variable size : 211337216 bytes.when querying v$sgastat then getting
java Pool : 16777216
Large Pool : 41943040
Shared pool : 398560392
But as per my knowledge following condition should satisfy,but not getting

Variable sga = java pool + large pool + shared pool
select pool,name,sum(bytes)
from v$sgastat
where pool in ('shared pool','java pool','large pool')
group by pool,name;
Here variable size using v$sga : 211337216 bytes
and java pool + large pool + shared pool : 211302536 bytes.

Mar 18, 2013In our current setup we have RAC on standard edition and client is now planning to go for Enterprise Edition but not yet decide because of cost. Is there any difference between Grid Infrastructure 11gR3 Enterprise edition and Standard Edition ?
They told me to first install Enterprise Edition and then will move to Standard Edition if they can't get the EE license so in that case do i have to re-install Grid infrastructure for standard edition?
Enterprise Manager :: Oracle 11g Console Not Starting Automatically And Manually?
Jun 10, 2011When I am trying to enter to the enterprise manager of oracle 11g, but it is not working. In my services list the 'oracledbconsoleorcl' is assigned as automatically to start with windows. But it is not starting. When I tried to start it manually the following message is displayed repeatedly even after restarting the pc.
'Windows could not start the oracledbconsoleorcl on Local computer. For more information, view the system event log. If this is a non-Microsoft services, contact the service vendor, and refer to service-specific error code 2.'
In the event log the following error messages are displayed:The OracleDBConsoleorcl service terminated with service-specific error 2 (0x2). and
The OracleCSService service failed to start due to the following error: The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion.
Enterprise Manager :: DBCA Does Not Recognize Database
Mar 28, 2010On our test database server, we restore a copy of the production database from the rman backup. The process worked well and we could connect and do the processing with sqlplus, or any other third party tools like Toad.
Strange enough, Database Configuration Assistant (DBCA) does not recognize it. So if we like to drop the database from the DBCA, it is not there. Also we could not get the DBCONSOLE to work with.
The all powerful command: emca -repos recreate generates a list of errors.
Enterprise Manager :: DBCA Shows No Agents Found?
Jun 8, 2010I have EM Agent 10g installed in its own Oracle Home (c:oracleagent10g) and Oracle 11g installed in its own Oracle Home (c:oracle11.2.0) The Server shows in EM console but the only target is the EM Agent,.. neither the Listener or the Database show under the targets tab in EM. Also, when DBCA is ran and we get to step 4 it shows NO AGENTS FOUND.
Have installed patch: 8825226 and 8968580 for EM Grid Control (Windows 2003 R2 32Bit) And 9138201 for 10g Agent on Server 2008 R2 (64bit)
Enterprise To Standard Edition
Sep 12, 2012Recently we have downgraded our database from enterprise to standard edition.....our sga size before downgrade was 11 gb and now it is 11gb and there is no as such problem in database..I have read somewhere that standard edition doesn't support sga size more than 2 gb .

Feb 10, 2011I am checking out licenses. We all know that EE is much more expensive than SE. But many customers do have EE installed - unsure if they need all the features at all. After several years of production, a downgrade is considered 'risky' and we continue to pay the full EE.
How can we check and be sure that a downgrade to SE would not be any problem?
Some checks include:
* partitioning used in user schemas? --> no downgrade to EE
* bitmap indexes in user schemas? --> no downgrade to EE
How can we complete this list, or is there some script to make this easy?

Sep 4, 2013Ours is Oracle 11.2.0.2.0 Db 4 instances RAC on Unix AIX OS.Since long we are facing problem that CPU utilization reached 100% and reboot is required alteast once or twice a month.On seeing the Events Logs we find that the Event "CURSOR PIN S WAIT FOR X" is consuming a lot of waits.
On analyzing i came to know that we are firing same query from Application 15 to 20 lack times for which a lot of Mutex keeps spining for getting Shared Mode and consumes a large amount of CPU.

in some tables alone a row is not inserted stating the ORA-12899 while checking with the database it shows the column is varchar(100)in the log the error showing it tries to insert 101 character. how it happening to a single row

Enterprise Manage Console Closing Automatically?
Jul 25, 2013I have successfully installed the Oracle 10g standerd version with a sample database on Windows server 2008 standard server. Then I installed the client so that I could use the Enterprise manage console that comes with it. Once installed, I was able to successfully configured the Net service. Now when I use either Enterprise manage console or SQL plus to login to the service that I created, once I enter the user id and password and click ok, system automatically closes both applications. I am not sure what is missing. I installed the same client on a windows XP pc and the enterprise manage console is working perfect.

I installed ORACLE (software only) and applied patch set 6 and tried to create a new database.
during the database creation I got an error as the system was adding the JVM that read:-
ORA-01927:cannot REVOKE privileges you did not grant.
I was given the options to ignore or abort
I chose to ignore the error and continue.
After the database creation completed I looked in the jserver log copied below and found two errors
I did not get the same error before installing patch set 6

1, when using the following process to create the instance
Login as user Oracle
/home/Oracle11home/bin/dbca -createDatabase -silent -templateName /home/Oracle11home/assistants/dbca/templates/Small.dbt -gdbName testDB -sid testSID -sysPassword [b]testpwd[/b] -systemPassword [b]testpwd[/b]
2. Found the file in $ORACLE_HOME/checkpoints/dbca/OraDb11g_home2_oracle_creation_checkpoint.xml , it listed the sys and system passwd (like testpwd for sys and system password) directly.

Sep 3, 2013I am running Ubuntu 13.04. I am attempting to install Oracle XE 11g R2. It seems that everything was fine until I got to configuration of the database as root I ran /etc/init.d/oracle-xe configure command. I have received the following output
Starting Oracle Net Listener...Done
Configuring database...
Database Configuration failed. Look into /u01/app/oracle/product/11.2.0/xe/config/log for details
When I look at the logs I get the following error ORA-01034: ORACLE not available. After receiving this error I have attempted to start Oracle manually.

Way To Start Oracle Database 10g Express Edition On Fedora
Sep 29, 2007am having problems starting Oracle Database 10g Express Edition on Fedora. Here is what I did in order to start it:
[root@x1-6-00-c0-9f-bb-ba-57 ~]# /etc/init.d/oracle-xe start
[root@x1-6-00-c0-9f-bb-ba-57 ~]# xhost +
access control disabled, clients can connect from any host
Not sure what I am doing wrong here.
