11gRel2 DBCA - Using Compatible Parameter 10.2.0.3.0 Results In ORA-00201

Following is the scenario:
1. Oracle DB Binaries: 11.2.0.2.2
2. Using dbca to create General Purpose Database and then modify initialization parameter "COMPATIBLE from 11.2.0.0.0 to 10.2.0.3.0" in the "All Initialization Parameters" window.
So, when I finally start installing database, I get following error during the install:
ORA-00201: control file version 11.2.0.0.0 incompatible with ORACLE version 10.2.0.3.0
ORA-00202: control file: '/u01/app/oracle/cfgtoollogs/dbca/infpp1/tempControl.clt'
IGNORE OR ABORT...
Now you might ask why i am doing this. Actually I want to install fresh 11grel2. database with lower compatible parameter. IMPORT DP custom schemas into this database making sure compatible is set to 10.2.0.3.0. Then run database with such settings for a week and finally change compatible parameter to 11.2.0.0.0
Any thoughts where i am going wrong? as the default template seems not accepting what i am interested to do.

How oracle deals with the setting of init.ora parameter compatible.
e.g. we have
DB Version=10.2.0.4
compatible=10.2.0
what is the possible leak for us ? Is there any description about the features changed in 10.2 up to 10.2.0.4 in all steps - so that we can check out which functions we do not have.

I am trying to execute the below and getting the error:
PLS-00201: identifier 'DBMS.REFRESH' must be declared
The mv is in my schema.. so I am owner. I thought I once read that a dbms.refresh had to be in a block.. so I added the begin and end.. but that didn't resolve it.
I have tried two ways, both resulting in the above error:

I need export data from remote server i.e. in Oracle8i envtt. but in my machine having client oracle10g.

I inherited the management of an Oracle 10.2.0.3 database Standard Edition on a 32 bit Microsoft Windows Server 2003 R2 platform with some invalided objects related to SYSMAN schema.
I suppose that probably these invalid objects are derived from a bad **previous upgrading operation*(probably from 10.2.0.1 to 10.2.0.3).Furthermore I looked for a solution on the net and I found that this trouble could be issued dropping and recreating again the Database Control Repository using emca plus specific commands. [URL]On Windows Systems I followed these commands on my test database and the repository was successfully created and all the previous invalidated objects where corrected.
However there is still a view not functioning. I tried to compile it again after the creation of the new Database Control Repository with the command alter view <viewname> compile but it returns the following errors:

my java program i am executing a pl/sql function using callable statement i checked everything in the function and the function is created without compilation errors in sql*plus environment, and i gave all DBA permissions to the user, but i got the error like below

I am trying to have an encryption logic written in Pl/SQL that could decrypt the value which is encrypted in Dot Net, using AES128 algorithm. Everytime when i try to have the decryption done, i lands up in one or the other error message. Below is the code snippet which i use. create or replace

I want to upgrade our database version (9.2.0.7) to 10g (10.2.0.2)
I know if I set COMPATIBLE parameter to 10.2.0.2 at first then I can't downgrade to 9.2.0.7 if any problem occurs I am not sure that our application can deal with 10g or not so I think it's better to leave the COMPATIBLE parameter to 9.2.0 several days for sure and if all things go well then change COMPATIBLE to 10.2.0.2 (I need to say that I can’t test our application in a test environment )
Now do you think leaving COMPATIBLE to 9.2.0 (after upgrade) for many days can cause any problem to Database ?

I am trying to use oracle wallet with the new odp.net managed driver, but I am getting
"invalid username/password".
As the wallet itself is ok (it works with the unmanaged client), seems to me that this new provider is not fully compatible with Oracle Wallet. Is this true? I am trying this:

I have been asked to look at making an existing Oracle server resilant. The technology I need to use are:
- Windows 2008 R2 Enterprise SP2
- Microsoft Cluster Services
- Oracle Enterprise 11g release 2
- Oracle Fail-Safe (latest version available)
Unfortunately ApEX 4.1 and Mod_plsql are install on the existing stand-alone server. I'm afraid i know very little about Oracle and ApEX but i need to make a design decision and check fiesablilty.
I believe the HTTP service and Mod_plsql can be moved to a independant server which should work but ApEX itself must remian on the database server (i'm told).Will ApEX work in a MSCS setup? I can only find references to RAC support, RAC is out of scope.

I have four Oracle 8i databases that can not be removed because of client requirements. These 8i databases have there own RMAN catalog which is 10G (Originally there were Oracle 8i, 9i and 10g databases using it but are now moved to 11g catalog). Databases are backing up fine. However, all the other databases are using the RMAN 11g Catalog. I want to point the Oracle 8i databases to point to the RMAN 11g recovery catalog. I created an 8i schema, however, i'm getting the following error message: RMAN-06429: RCVCAT database is not compatible with this version of RMAN. however, I wanted to put the question out there to see if there are any work arounds.

I am facing a issue on DBCA Installation, when i tried from off-shore.
a. When Iam connecting a server using production / Model VPN , and try to start Installing DBCA Using X11-Forwarding of putty,
b. DBCA installation Started but its tooo Slow, it takes more than 3Hrs (Started at 9AM and ends at 11.17AM)
c. First time it fails and second time its went to success, Whereas when i take alog of server ping request - I am getting a frequent "Requested time out" due to network fluctuation.
So let me know is the network fluctuation affects the Installation through VPN, if So how to overcome and is any workaround on that ?

On script xdb_protocol.sql when catqm.sql was called, the cmd stoped
it asks for a value "Give a value for 4 one:" (In german actually "Geben Sie einen Wert f³r 4 ein:" )
