Actually I have installed win95 compatible version of forms 6i on XP. It was successfully installed on XP
But when I am trying to connect database it throwing error ORA-12203:Unable to connect destination.
was this is issue because of the compatible installation?
Actually i am migrating forms from 6i to 10g Here i need to set the window which should be fit in the browser(internet explorer) resolution and it should be compatible for any resolution?
i have tried by changing width and height in formsweb.cfg file but it is not compatible for different resolutions...

I want to upgrade our database version (9.2.0.7) to 10g (10.2.0.2)
I know if I set COMPATIBLE parameter to 10.2.0.2 at first then I can't downgrade to 9.2.0.7 if any problem occurs I am not sure that our application can deal with 10g or not so I think it's better to leave the COMPATIBLE parameter to 9.2.0 several days for sure and if all things go well then change COMPATIBLE to 10.2.0.2 (I need to say that I can’t test our application in a test environment )
Now do you think leaving COMPATIBLE to 9.2.0 (after upgrade) for many days can cause any problem to Database ?
I am using apex 4.0.2.00.09 and when I Tried to import jrxml2pdf-1.2.0.2.releas from the application it gave me 1 error has occurredNOT COMPATIBLE (Your export may contain calls not supported by your application version.)

"invalid username/password".
As the wallet itself is ok (it works with the unmanaged client), seems to me that this new provider is not fully compatible with Oracle Wallet. Is this true? I am trying this:

Following is the scenario:
1. Oracle DB Binaries: 11.2.0.2.2
2. Using dbca to create General Purpose Database and then modify initialization parameter "COMPATIBLE from 11.2.0.0.0 to 10.2.0.3.0" in the "All Initialization Parameters" window.
So, when I finally start installing database, I get following error during the install:
ORA-00201: control file version 11.2.0.0.0 incompatible with ORACLE version 10.2.0.3.0
ORA-00202: control file: '/u01/app/oracle/cfgtoollogs/dbca/infpp1/tempControl.clt'
IGNORE OR ABORT...
Now you might ask why i am doing this. Actually I want to install fresh 11grel2. database with lower compatible parameter. IMPORT DP custom schemas into this database making sure compatible is set to 10.2.0.3.0. Then run database with such settings for a week and finally change compatible parameter to 11.2.0.0.0
Any thoughts where i am going wrong? as the default template seems not accepting what i am interested to do.

I have been asked to look at making an existing Oracle server resilant. The technology I need to use are:
- Windows 2008 R2 Enterprise SP2
- Microsoft Cluster Services
- Oracle Enterprise 11g release 2
- Oracle Fail-Safe (latest version available)
Unfortunately ApEX 4.1 and Mod_plsql are install on the existing stand-alone server. I'm afraid i know very little about Oracle and ApEX but i need to make a design decision and check fiesablilty.
I believe the HTTP service and Mod_plsql can be moved to a independant server which should work but ApEX itself must remian on the database server (i'm told).Will ApEX work in a MSCS setup? I can only find references to RAC support, RAC is out of scope.
I have four Oracle 8i databases that can not be removed because of client requirements. These 8i databases have there own RMAN catalog which is 10G (Originally there were Oracle 8i, 9i and 10g databases using it but are now moved to 11g catalog). Databases are backing up fine. However, all the other databases are using the RMAN 11g Catalog. I want to point the Oracle 8i databases to point to the RMAN 11g recovery catalog. I created an 8i schema, however, i'm getting the following error message: RMAN-06429: RCVCAT database is not compatible with this version of RMAN. however, I wanted to put the question out there to see if there are any work arounds.

We now have PC's new operating system Windows 7 and officce 2010. My procedure reads a specific route where a template in Word which is used to generate the document. In the user's PC application that does not generate the document even shows me an error message. But when I enter my network user with the user's PC and the document genre generates me perfectly. I checked if the user has access to the server path specifies where the template encuntra wish to open and if you have them.

But this time I want to map the columns i.e my database table having 5 columns. and the excel file is having 2 or 3 columns then i suppose to map those columns and accordingly insert it to my table.
So far i have import column heading of excel to oracle forms, then i've provide list item for mapping each column. so that user can map excel column to database columns. Now I am confuse how to write the code so that selected columns should get inserted into database.

I have table with columns id, name, location, address, plan. in those columns i need to insert records form excel. user having a excel with 3 columns col1, col2, col3. on the form i've fetch column headers of excel and in front of that i've provide database column list , so user can match excel column with database column. e.g.
COL1 --> list value of database column
COL2 -->list value of database column
COL3 -->list value of database column
Once user map those column i want to insert those values into my database table (table with columns id, name, location, address, plan). and i am confuse about this code.
i'm using db and forms 10g. i want the output of the form to be embedded within a simple html page. lets say i want the html page to be divided into three frames. the uppermost horizontal frame will hold a banner (say). the left vertical frame will hold some advertisement (say).
(1) now the rest of the page will be covered by the third frame in which the fmx's will run.
(2) i want the login.fmx (startup form) to show up first instead of the servlet. infact the servlet should not show up at all.
I am working on a simple form which will get the user to fetch required columns of employee master.
For that i have created a form which will display the column names and select option. When user clicks on query, the form will display the selected columns in a block. After going thru if required the user can download it to excel.
As of now I do not have filtering option. For this I thought of creating view based on the selection and then fetch records from the view and display it in form.
To achieve this I would like to know How I create or replace a view dynamically based on values selected. I remember doing this sort of thing long back, but could not recollect it.
