Windows :: Error / Test Failed / Provider Cannot Be Found

We just upgraded one of our databases to 11g on a new server. The 3rd party application that accesses the db is 32 bit. The software needs to be running on the db server in order for some transactions to occur. Since the oracle client on the db server is 64bit do we need to install a 32 bit client as well. As of right now we are getting an error in the software when trying to connect to the db that says "Test failed. provider cannot be found. it may not be properly installed." This is a live production server so uninstalling and reinstalling oracle is not really an option at this time (unless absolutely necessary). How will installing a 32 bit oracle client effect everything (if that is the route we need to take).

I have to migrate the current production database to test 10.2.0.4 on windows. Any non-export way to upgrade 9i to 10 g?
i have following steps
1) ALTER DATABASE BACKUP CONTROLFILE TO TRACE
2) shutdown oracle 9i database on server A
3) copy database file, controlfile, redolog, and other files to new server B
4) alter the controlfile backup with new location of bdump, udump, and log file and data file locations
5) user oradim ORADIM -NEW -SID SID [-INTPWD PASSWORD ]-MAXUSERS USERS
-STARTMODE AUTO -PFILE ORACLE_HOME\DATABASE\INITSID.ORA
6) start dabase in upgrade mode
7) run catpat.sql and util102.sql
8) take backup
9) open database for users

I still have a legacy apps built using Forms 6i and Reports 6i running against Oracle 10g database on a Windows XP client and Windows 2008 server.It seems working well on Windows 7 client (32-bit only), but I think that it needs to test this apps.

we have a client side application, on Windows and Oracle 10g R2.We use OLEDB templates from MFC (CDynamic Paramete rAccessor).There is a long query (4610 char) what provider return E_UNEXPECTED HRESULT (from execute, before the bind).
No detailed info from provider (GetErrorRecords() return E_FAIL).If I copy this query into SQL* Plus, it run without error.There is an almost the same query run successfull, the difference is only in two added order by and alias column.

we can navigate to this URL in our browser and log in as the SYS user with the associated password, and connect as SYSDBA. Enterprise Manager can be used to perform common database administration tasks... but..,in my system when this procedure is run i'm receiving an error stating that the server cannot be found...

We have the following trigger in database, whenever we try to insert the record in WIP_OPERATIONS , NO DATA FOUND exception has been thrown, when we debugged, we did not find any issue. The first select statement is getting failed even though there is the value coming for :NEW.wip_entity_id and when we execute the query separately in database with the :NEW.WIP_ENTITY_ID, its getting the value. What could be the reason? Can't we use SELECT Statement in AFTER or BEFORE INSERT trigger?why its throwing NO_DATA_FOUND Exception?

after apply patch 10.2.0.4 for 2 10gr2 node i tried to start asm on 2 node but i found that the 1st node (master node)

tried installing oracle 10g in ubuntu. i am successful with the oracle installation.i am able to login to sqlplus using oracle OEM,but when i try to login through command prompt , i get the following error:

Running a Dell x86_64 machine using CentOS 6.4 Install using the command: rpm -ivh oracle-xe-11.2.0-1.0.x86_64.rpmOracle XE installs without any errors.

Not able to understand what's wrong with the code. I am trying to import data to a table using a CSV file. I have exported the data (CSV) from the interactive report and I am just trying to insert the same data to the table, through a process. When, I tried to do so; its throwing an error message saying NO_DATA_FOUND and file is not getting inserted into wwv_flow_files table.
But when I removed the data from the CSV file for the comments field and then tried importing the file, the process worked. I don't understand whats the problem with the code.
I have a sample app setup in my workspace for this weird problem.

We have been getting the below error message, while backing up the DB(Full DB backup) via netbackup. The DB version is 10.2.0.3 (64bit). The archive backup goes fine. the problem is with the full backup.

Table A basically has 4 rows of interest, an outside event changes/inserts let's say row 1.
Row 2 and 3 have to be changed in a trigger depending on the new value of 1.(or not if the value stays the same)
Row 4 is the reference for the update and will not be changed.
My first simple AFTER INSERT or UPDATE trigger obviously failed because of the mutating table error.

I found a thread that reported a similar issue and was directed to Oracle Support Document 353843.1 . The suggestion was to adjust the /etc/hosts file, but I don't see anything wrong in the file:

One of database, while taking backup using RMAN, it failed with the following error:
RMAN-03009: failure of backup command on DISK4 channel at 11/28/2012 09:47:29
ORA-19566: exceeded limit of 0 corrupt blocks for file <faile_name>
I used DBV to identify the number of blocks corrupted.
I referred the Metalink iD 457422.1 & 336133.1. But it did not work since the corrupted blocks have got object in it.
I could able to find the object as well. it is one of the table in the datafile.
I used 'ALTER TABLE ... MOVE..' command to see if that works. But again getting the same error while taking the backup and corrupted blocks still exists.
DB Version : 10.2.0.5
OS Version : RHEL 5.6

RAC installation on vmware is failing with following errors. I followed below link for installation. URL..... Found the following errors:
