PL/SQL :: Merge Multiple Rows Into Single Row (but Multiple Columns)

Oct 17, 2012

How to merge multiple rows into single row (but multiple columns) efficiently.

For example

IDVal IDDesc IdNum Id_Information_Type Attribute_1 Attribute_2 Attribute_3 Attribute_4 Attribute_5
23 asdc 1 Location USA NM ABQ Four Seasons 87106
23 asdc 1 Stats 2300 91.7 8.2 85432
23 asdc 1 Audit 1996 June 17 1200
65 affc 2 Location USA TX AUS Hilton 92305
65 affc 2 Stats 5510 42.7 46 9999
65 affc 2 Audit 1996 July 172 1100

where different attributes mean different thing for each Information_type. For example for Information_Type=Location

Attribute_1 means Country
Attribute_2 means State and so on.

For example for Information_Type=Stats

Attribute_1 means Population
Attribute_2 means American Ethnicity percentage and so on.

I want to create a view that shows like below:

IDVal IDDesc IDNum Country State City Hotel ZipCode Population American% Other% Area Audit Year AuditMonth Audit Type AuditTime
23 asdc 1 USA NM ABQ FourSeasons 87106 2300 91.7 46 85432 1996 June 17 1200

SQL & PL/SQL :: Partition A Table By List And Interval?

Dec 12, 2012

We have a table like below.

Create table Item_max
(
CCN varchar2(10),
Run_date date,
Item varchar2(10),
status varchar2(1)

[code].....

Currently we are inserting the cycle data for all Items every day into above table for all the CCN's.Currently there are 100k Items in our DB and gets inserted every day into above table with Different Rundates for all CCN's.

We need the above data for 6months and we would like to purge the data based on the RunDates.

We thought of creating a Partition on CCN and Interval Subpartition on Run_date with Interval of every 1 day but I could get any materials on the net to have List-Interval partitioning in Oracle 11G.

Also List - Range partitioning doesnt work here as the Dynamic partition used(using Maxused) will contain the data for all Run_dates instead of particular rundate.

Partition The Same Table Using Different Columns

Mar 5, 2013

I’m facing an issue in my current project where we have to run batch jobs and interfaces on the same master tables. These tables are huge (millions) and we get very poor response time.

We thought of partitioning the tables, but the problem is our batch jobs queries are based on dates (some run on monthly data, some runs on yearly data..) but interfaces uses primary keys.

I’m not sure on how to partition the tables in this situation, is there any way I can partition the tables in such a way that both batches and interfaces will get benefit out of it?

Our database infrastructure has a 3 Node RAC (each with 8 CPUs) and oracle 10g R2. We have almost 60gig of RAM allocated to oracle.

PS: We are not thinking about Mviews now because client wants to explore the partition option first.

SQL & PL/SQL :: Dropping Unused Columns In A Partition?

Jan 21, 2003

I have been trying to drop an unused column in a partitioned table, and the number of records stored in this unused column was very high. I kept on running into errors as follows:

ORA-01562: failed to extend rollback segment number 10

ORA-01650: unable to extend rollback segment R09 by 256 in tablespace RBS

I tried to "SET TRANSACTION USE ROLLBACK SEGMENT <name>" with a larger rollback segment, but it still did not work. Can I drop the "unused column" from each partition instead?

How to apply that? Or, what are my options besides increasing the size of the rollback segment?

Hash Partition On Primary Key Columns?

Jul 18, 2012

I have a existing non partition table with more than 100 million records, planning to re design using Hash partition. This table doesn't has any range column to do range partitioning.

Table has 40 columns with a Primary Key on two columns (guest_sales_Id ,Version Flag). guest_sales_Id is unique for entire table but with anopther column version Flag declared as Primary key.(Version Falg will have only two distinct values in entire table)

If i do hash partition,do i need to declare on two columns which are declared ad Primary key ?If i use only guest_sales_id to declare hash prtition any issues ?

Server Administration :: Create Subpartition For Existing List Partition

Dec 14, 2012

We have a table which is already partitioned by list and now we would like to add a subpartition.

Create table Item_mst
(
ccn varchar2(10),
Flag varchar2(1),
Item varchar2(10),
status varchar2(1)
)

[Code]..

Now I could like to alter the above table for adding a new subpartition on each partition on status.

ALTER TABLE Item_mst
MODIFY PARTITION Item_mst_Test
ADD SUBPARTITION Item_mst_Test_A VALUES ('A');

Above alter gives ORA-14253: table is not partitioned by composite range method.

However dropping and recreating the table with subpartitions is working fine.

But Dropping and recreating the table in production is very cumbersome as it has huge data and many indices.

SQL & PL/SQL :: Multiple Tasks For Single SR - Over Partition By

Jan 27, 2012

I have a scenario where the requirement is to create a "SEQ NO". Based on the 'Tasks' & it's creation date. Where there are multiple 'tasks' for a single SR.

The following example will make it clear
SR TASK Created on SEQ NO
11009 2345 14/10/1988 12:15:17 1
11009 2346 14/10/1988 12:15:57 2
11234 - - -

If there is a SR which has no task then the SEQ NO should be 0. And the seq no should be in the order of the created on field & if 2 tasks are created at the same time i.e suppose 2345 & 2346 have the same time stamp then the SEQ no should be 1,2 respectively n not both as 1.

SQL & PL/SQL :: How To Pass List Of Columns From Variable To Execute Immediate

Feb 24, 2012

I am trying to perform a dml operation(insert) to insert data into a table. I created a procedure in which a insert statement is generated. In another procedure I am trying to execute this auto generated statement using execute immediate. For that I created 2 variables . First one contain the insert statement and other one contain the list of columns. I m passing these strings to execute immediate like this

Execute Immediate(v_query) using(v_col_list)

after execution i m getting the following error

ORA-01008: not all variables bound
ORA-06512": at ' db_name.load_data' , line no 217

but when i tried it with list of column into using clause it is working like

Execute Immediate(v_query) using col1,col2,col3

I have more than 150 tables in the schema and i am creating a single procedure to load the data into base tables by using external tables. By passing the table name to procedure it generates the update and insert statements but i am getting error while executing the statements with dynamic sql.

SELECT DISTINCT On Multiple Columns

Sep 17, 2010

I've read so many different pages on this topic but I can't seem to get my query the way it needs to be. Here's the query:

select admitnbr, lastname||', '||firstname||' '||finitial, hphone, mobile, wphone, med_rec, dob
from patients join schedule using (key_patien)
join adtmirro using (key_patien)
where appt_state = 'ON HOLD'

Because patients in my database can have multiple appointments "on hold" there are duplicates in the results. I only need 1 record per patient in order to forward this information into an automated dialer to contact that patient. I do NOT want to call the patient over and over again. Once will suffice. I'm trying to make a distinction on the column 'med_rec'. One row per 'med_rec' will be awesome but I can't find a way to create a distinct on that column.

cwat_curr_mst and cwat_assigned_customer tables has 4 cols in common
they are

SQL & PL/SQL :: Groups With Multiple Columns And Links

Nov 29, 2010

the thread title was a bit confusing, couldn't come up with anything short to describe the question. What I am looking for is a query which will put records into groups based on matching values in one of two columns. So if two records have a matching value in column 1 or column 2 they are in the same group. See the example bellow and expected output for a "better" explanation:

--setup
CREATE TABLE foo
(foo_id NUMBER NOT NULL PRIMARY KEY,
record_number NUMBER,
record_value VARCHAR2(1));

[Code]...

--expected output

group# foo_id record_number record_value
1 1 1 A
1 2 1 B
1 3 2 B
1 4 2 C
2 5 3 D
3 6 4 E
3 7 5 E

My initial thought is that is feels a little bit like the sequential seat problem but not quite close enough. I know it could be done iteratively with PL/SQL but I am thinking there must be a way to do it in SQL I am not seeing yet.
