I am struggling with a simple data load using sqlldr
Ref: I am running Oracle 11.2 on Linux 5.7.
===========================
Here is my table:
SQL> desc ntwkrep.CARD
Name Null? Type
[code]...
Looking at the actual data and counting the characters for the "REALIZES" column data, I see that it is roughly slightly over 1000 characters.
So, attempting various ideas to fix the problem, I tried changing nls_length_semantics to "char" and recreating the table, but this still didn't work and still got the same data load errors on the same rows.
Then, I changed nls_length_semantics back to byte and recreated the table again.This time, I altered the table manually as:
SQL> ALTER TABLE ntwkrep.CARD MODIFY (REALIZES VARCHAR2(4000 char));
Table altered.
SQL> desc ntwkrep.card
Name Null? Type
----------------------------------------------------------------- -------- --------------------------------------------
CIM_DESCRIPTION VARCHAR2(255)
CIM_NAME NOT NULL VARCHAR2(255)
COMPOSEDOF VARCHAR2(4000)
[code]...
Here is a copy of the first row of data which fails to load every time no matter how I change the "REALIZES" column in the table.

View 1 Replies View Related I need to get the maximum value of the VALUE field of each record with different POINTNUMBER, then do an update on the 2nd table.
table 1
UTCTime TIMESTAMP (6)
INTEGER POINTNUMBER
FLOAT VALUE (126)
INTEGER TLQ
table 2 (idem structure)
UTCTime TIMESTAMP (6)
INTEGER POINTNUMBER
FLOAT VALUE (126)
INTEGER TLQ
Where POINTNUMBER is six thousand different values My query only returns me the maximum of a single record:
SELECT * FROM table1 WHERE value = (SELECT MAX (value) FROM table2);
And the update:
UPDATE table2 SET to a.value = (SELECT MAX (b.value) FROM table2 b);
so does on a single record.That needed to maximize each pointnumber different? I can use a cursor to do this easier?
Insertion should first make a one-time, and then updates every 1 hour
create table test_schema(

into test_schema values ('this_is_a_test_test')

select * from dual;
I want to get the length of the col1 value with maximum length of characters also with that field value.
i.e o/p is
this_is_a_test_test_aaaaaaaa length 28
how can I do it??
I have a problem to read in data from dmp file to target table.
I've created a dmp file using:
CREATE TABLE table_name
ORGANIZATION EXTERNAL
(TYPE oracle_datapump
DEFAULT DIRECTORY directory_name
LOCATION ('file_name.dmp')
) AS SELECT col1, col2, col3 from source_table;
[Code]...
The file created via db_link from target db to remote db and then the data are insterted into target db table target_table.
desc target_table
col1 varchar2(20)
col2 number
col3 number
There are no values longer than 20 characters in source table, but when I insert into target_table(col1, col2, col3) as select col1, col2 col3 from source_table; I get ORA-12899: value too large for column "target_table"."col1" (actual: 25, maximum: 20).
I gues it has something to do with how the oracle datapump stored the data in dmp file. When I select col1 from source_table where length(col1) > 20; I get two values which clearly are not longer than 20 characters.
Selected values are:
748473358
693197674
where the bug is hidden or any "normal" workaround?
can I control at length of field at tuntime?i want to set the number of the size (length) at runtime.

I need to load a file with fields separated by '|^|' and at end of each record has '||*||'.
So in my ctl file what do i mention ? fields terminated by '|^|' ? for the record termination wat should I say?
Should I still mention 'trailing null col' in my ctl file...?
Sample data file:
Name|^|Age|^|city||*||
john|^|33|^|||*||
james|^||^|nyc||*||
ken|^|44|^|
washington||*||
the fields are properly terminated with |^| and the records are terminated with ||*||. Is it true that a file with |^| as field terminator cannot be loaded with sqlldr?

106,4/3/2013 1:18:18 AM
how to load the date filed along with the time stamp.
After exporting some data to excel, I noticed that on one row all the columns shifted over some. So I queried this record in the database and noticed that the ADDRESS field has some unknown characters at the end of it. They are little squares. I think they are TABS.
2630 LINDEN BLVD, APT. #8G(2 squares are in here)
ADDRESS_1 "TRIM(:ADDRESS_1)",
Besides trimming the data, is there some other function I can use to clean up the address further?
I want to execute a DML query with execute immediate statement. That DML query length exceeds 4000 characters. This query has Xquery related conditions, i can not split the query. when i tried execute it is giving "string literal too long". I tried with DBMS_SQL.Parse() and DBMS_SQL.Execute also, but it is giving same error. I have to execute this DML query inside a Procedure. We are using oracle 10g version

I am New to Apex. Im using Apex Version 4.2.
I have a tab named APPROPRIATIONS it has 10 fields. Among which is PROJECT NUMBER, AUTHORIZAION DATE (CALENDER TYPE POPUP), And FUNDS CHECK FLAG.
The Scenario is depending upon PROJECT NUMBER the Fields are Populated including FUNDS CHECK FLAG .
But the AUTHORIZAION DATE is a MANDATORY field has to be filled by User
The Requirement is to make AUTHORIZAION DATE as MANDATORY only when the FUNDS CHECK FLAG is *"BLANK "* or *“Y”*
If the FUNDS CHECK FLAG is *“N”* then the AUTHORIZAION DATE to be made OPTIONAL.
A column in a table contains the Numeric and Character. I Require the Numeric Value in that Column, if the Value is Character then null value is require to display.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI am having a problem with auto populating different fields based on inventory no. field.. This is a bug giving to me to work on and i not able to figure out how to populate the other fields.
How to set any triggers for the items to auto populate and i am suppose to finish this work today.
By default number that "starts" with a leading zero with decimals - zero is removed. 0.49 => .49
I'm adding for e.g. the mask "FM990D0999". 0.49 => 0.49
Ok this is fixed.But if I have an integer without decimal. 1 => 1.0
If I change the mask to FM990D9999 1=> 1.
I would like to have a zero leading when it's 0.49 but also no decimal when it's an integer => 1
