Every time sequence should be start from 1.can i know how to create sequence? for ex:-once i have uploaded 100 records this time sequence is generating from 1 to 100.next time i will upload again 100 records this time sequence is generating(Starting) from 200 to 300.but it should be generate from 1. how? i have created like this
CREATE SEQUENCE XX_SEQUENCE
MINVALUE 1
MAXVALUE 99999999999
START WITH 1
INCREMENT BY 1
CYCLE
NOCACHE;

I would like to export specific tables(not entire schema) including metadata. I am using a parameter file for expdp.
Tables=emp,dept
Does this also include all metadata or should i also add the below Include in the parfile ?
INCLUDE =Indexes,Sequences,Procedures,Views

I have to load data from sql loader in a table and the table has got a varchar2 column which accept data from sequence.the expression would be.
TRANSACTION_ID "'AUTO-'||To_Char(prt_trs_id_seq.nextval)"
TRANSACTION_ID is the column name.
When i add this expression the loader doesn't work, when i remove it works and load null for this column and valid data with other column.

I have a CSV file with 100 records and one of the column as FILE_ID. I want to load one unique number for all 100 recs not for every records.
suppose my sequence returns 3 as next val i want to load 3 for all 100 records. How to implement this in control file or sh file . I am using shell script to call sqlldr.

I have a control file like following:
LOAD DATA
INFILE *
INTO TABLE member
REPLACE
FIELDS TERMINATED BY '|' OPTIONALLY ENCLOSED BY '"'
(
control_id,
name,
address
)
problem is that control_id value is not in data file and I have to assign to each row the same value generated from sequence or from unix variable.
For example, after I run sqlldr, I have to have records in the table like following:
control_id name address
---------- ---- -------
1847 Charlie 250 yonge st
1847 Peter 5 Brookbanks dr
1847 Ben 123 King st
.
.
.
How do I do that?

im trying to create an external table, and i load my data without no problem, and everything is fine, but i got some behavior with one column that i would like to know whats behind scenes, OK let's get the example:
[*] Sample Data
Line 1:333 1111111112009100000000000080000000013450.33
Line 2:11111111111220091016000000004.48
Line 3:222222222 220091016000000004.48
Line 4:(This is a blank line left)
And this is my External Table Create Query:
CREATE TABLE EXT_TABLE_TEMP
(COL_A VARCHAR2(11),
COL_B VARCHAR2(1),
COL_C DATE,
COL_D NUMBER(12,2))
ORGANIZATION EXTERNAL

As you can see i can upload my table with no problem but i always get 3 lines counting last blank line if i try LOAD WHEN COL_A != BLANKS, i dont know if its a problem of the blank space left between fixed fields length, but if i do LOAD WHEN COL_B != BLANKS i get correct result 2 lines instead of 3, i want to know why (missing fields...) and (reject rows...) are not working...
Note: COL_A could be 9-11 length, if length its 9 then 2 spaces left before next one...

I have exported and imported a schema from one server to another. In the source schema, I have a public synonym. I do not know the name of that synonym. In the destination schema, the public synonym is missing. How to create the public synonym which is missing in the destination database?In the source, I queried dba_synonyms, all_synonyms... but it returns no rows selected.

I tried a lot to load data to table from excel(.csv) using sql*loader the oracle version of sql*loader doesn't support the control file created using notepad(.ctl).Though i given a filename with extension as .ctl it seems as a .txt file. Is there any alternate way to create it?

I need to load data from a CSV file where one of the CSV values determines how many records should be inserted.
Example of the input data:
KEYWORD;2;REC1_COL1_X,REC1_COL2_X;REC2_COL1_X;REC2_COL2_X
KEYWORD;3;REC1_COL1_Y;REC1_COL2_Y,REC2_COL1_Y;REC2_COL2_Y;REC3_COL1_Y;REC3_COL2_Y
KEYWORD;4;REC1_COL1_Z;REC1_COL2_Z,REC2_COL1_Z;REC2_COL2_Z;REC3_COL1_Z;REC3_COL2_Z,REC4_COL1_Z;REC4_COL2_Z
If the KEYWORD is found, then the next value determines how many value pairs will follow, and therefore how many rows should be created in the affected DB table.
As a result I hope to achieve this:
SELECT Column1, Column2 FROM testTable
REC1_COL1_X,REC1_COL2_X
REC2_COL1_X;REC2_COL2_X
REC1_COL1_Y;REC1_COL2_Y

while importing data i got this error in my log file.and i cannot import my data successfuly

Is it possible to create sequence using EXECUTE IMMEDIATE statement. The sequence name will be the bind variable.

This creates a sequence named TEMP, but i want the name :P2_INFO entered by user.

I am switching database from access to oracle 11g. I have create all the required tables, but I am stuck at one point. The previous person who created access database had auto increment with SG0101, SG0102,........ In oracle I know we can auto increment primary keys but only with the numbers not with characters.
So I have customerid which is a primary key and it automatically increments the number, but I have one more column with memberid where I am inserting all the ids that start with SG0101 bla bla.....
I already have 800 member ID's that start with SG, but that value doesnt automatically increment because I dont have any sequence or trigger to do that.
So how do I create a sequence and trigger that will automatically start value with SG and keeps auto incrementing?

I'm trying to create a sequence for a primary key to simply auto-increment by the default of 1. I have a sql script written to generate mt tables, and I'm not sure how to modify the script to include the sequence. I also just want the sequence for a specific column, ie, PK, not the PK in all tables.
Here's a snippet from my script:
create table image
(
image_id int NOT NULL,
source_id int NOT NULL,
CONSTRAINT image_id_pk PRIMARY KEY (image_id),
CONSTRAINT fk_source_id FOREIGN KEY (source_id) REFERENCES source(source_id)
);
Would I add the create sequence statement right after the create table, and if so, how do I apply the sequence to only 1 table and a single column?

I want to load lakhs of records into a table. My problem is when after loading the ¼ of records my process is abend due to the size of my rollback segment area. I don't have an option to increase it. So, Is there any way to go for intermediate commits when I am using the imp or sqlldr utilities to load the entire data without abend?

However there is one more utility exist for the same functionatlty which is netmgrI checked with many DBAs for the exact difference, however I did not get the best answer from them.
