Jan 31, 2012I have a question about spfile.
SQL> SELECT COUNT(*) FROM v$parameter WHERE value IS NOT NULL;
COUNT(*)
----------
246
SQL> SELECT COUNT(*) FROM v$spparameter WHERE value IS NOT NULL;
COUNT(*)
----------
20
v$parameter displays information about the initialization parameters that are currently in effect for the session,but v$spparameter displays information about the contents of the spfile.I want to know why the count of parameters whose values are not null in v$parameter is greater.where are they from? My initialization parameter file is spfile.

Oct 14, 2010When I am trying to connect to sql from scott or any other user i am getting this error message ,
ORA-01033: ORACLE initialization or shutdown in progress
I have been getting this error message for 4 four days . Butt when i am trying to connect from SYS user it connects successfully ,but when i do query it gives me following error message .
ORA-01219: database not open: queries allowed on fixed tables/views only
I shutdown Database from SYS user ,and start it again .But at startup it gives me following error message .
ORA-00204: error in reading (block 3, # blocks 8) of control file
ORA-00202: control file: 'D:ORACLEPRODUCT10.2.0ORADATAORCLCONTROL03.CTL'
ORA-27091: unable to queue I/O
ORA-27070: async read/write failed

May 16, 2012I have oracle 10g as well as oracle 8i on my server. currently we are using oracle 10g. now we get the following error when we try to connect to oracl 10g database.

Apr 17, 2013I am having few confusion on dbname, sid & tnsname.
rman target sys/oracle@suman auxiliary /
In the above command, "suman" is SID or Tnsname or dbname?
Bimistake, in my test database, i tried to change the DBname to suman from sumandb in pfile. After changing, i tried to startup database in nomount pfile but oracle through error that, unable to locate control file. Then, i remove the control files and tried to start database with nomount. Oracle through error about the control file.
This database, i had installed through DBCA. I want to know, where are all places where DBname reside?
Can i start database through pfile even if it is created through DBCA?

This isn't documented apart from a few articles on metalink, but Googling it suggests that if it is on TRUE (the default) or ONLY then I can use AMM with huge pages.

Mar 20, 2013quick check on a hidden parameter? I need to know the default value and possible values for _serial_direct_read on various releases, I have only 11.2.0.3 available right now and I'ld like to know this for 11.2.x.x 11.1.x.x, and 10.2.x.x.
Below is the query that will show what it is currently which (unless you've changed it) will be the default: auto for my 11.2.0.3. Then to see the options, try to set it to something wrong, my options are false/true/never/auto/always. I think false/true were the only choices for 10.2 and are maintained only for compatibility. But I can't rememebnr 11.1.

Apr 12, 2013i try to startup a database, and get that obsolete/deprecated parameter specified(ORA-32004: obsolete and/or deprecated parameter(s) specified)so i try to reset the parameter, but it seems it is already reset(not in spfile), so maybe this is in memory. SO now i try to reset with scope = memory or both, it gives this error(ORA-32029: resetting with SCOPE=MEMORY or SCOPE=BOTH is currently not supported).
what to do, because now i cannot reset with scope = memory and in spfile it is not there but still it comes in deprecated parameter.

Apr 1, 2011I have database A (Working in Live environment) and Database B copy of Database (Not live) I have Restored whole database (A) RMAN backup file on Database (B) Previous week now i don't want to change anything in any schema and want to import only updated and new records in the table in Database B
There are around 20 schema If for example i have everything in new database B all required database objects like Procedure,functions, packages with indexes in all tables and data in tables, i just want to add new data and updated data.
IF i do following in source database
expdp directory=dpump_dir dumpfile=table_data.dmp content=data_only schemas=ACCMAIN,HRMAIN,..... include=TABLE
AND Import in destination database B, will it add new data and update existing one in table and not touch the table structure and indexes.
