Migrating From One Database To Another (Table Structures Slightly Changed)

Aug 20, 2008

We have a requirement where we need to migrate data from a legacy system (Oracle 10g) to our database (Oracle 10g again).

The thing is that the table structures will be slightly different between the two. Our current structure has some fields added/removed as well as some tables added/removed. But by and large the databases would be similar (about 75%).

While migrating I would need to map the fields in the source and destination manually. I would also need to populate some data to the fields that have been newly added.

Is there any way to do this? I was checking out Oracle SQL developer but could not proceed much.

Performance Tuning :: How To Check Table Has Changed 10% In Database

Dec 13, 2011

By default the DBMS_STATS package runs once every 24 hours to collect statistics for database objects and Oracle collects new statistics when enough of the data (about 10%) has changed.

My question here is how to check the table has changed 10% in database?

SQL & PL/SQL :: Selecting Owner For Currently Called Object?

Sep 13, 2010

I am trying to select the owner of a certain object, only knowing the name of the object and the user calling it.

Problem is this object might exist in more than one schema with the same name, and I only need the one that is called by the active user, which himself/herself might have access to other schemas containing their own copy of the object.

Example:

SELECT OWNER
INTO v_schema_name
FROM ALL_OBJECTS
WHERE OBJECT_NAME = p_object_name;

This works fine, until the object exists in more than one schema to which the current user has access.

How To Create A User (Owner Of Coeus Schema)

Dec 9, 2010

On the database instance where you want to install Coeus, create a user who will be the owner of Coeus schema. This user should have at least the following privileges. CREATE TABLE, CREATE VIEW, CREATE PROCEDURE, CREATE PUBLIC SYNONYM, CREATE USER, CREATE ROLE, CREATE SEQUENCE, CREATE SESSION CREATE TRIGGER, AND CREATE TYPE. If you choose, you can grant DBA role to this user.

Note: Coeus Schema owner should have CREATE USER and ALTER USER right explicitly granted to it, not through a role like DBA.

Server Administration :: Collect Table Stats?

Oct 10, 2013

We are running 11g (11.2.0.3)We have a "working table" that is empty at the beginning of the day.Then we start adding rows (insert) with a key column called STATE with a value of 100.At the same time, there are other apps that pickup data in state 100 , process that data and change that state to 200 or 300.There is also another app that pickup data in state 200 , process that data and change that state to 300 or 400.

So in summary, the data on that table is at the beginning empty, then all the rows are in state 100, they slowly move to different states (200, 300, etc) and by the end of the day, they are all in 400.

My question is what would be the best way to collect stats on this table?

I was thinking to create an hourly job to collect stats on that table:
exec dbms_stats.gather_table_stats (
ownname => 'SCOTT',
tabname => 'WORK_T

Server Administration :: How To Shrink Table Size

Jan 4, 2012

I have a table: desc STG_XML

Name Null Type
------------------------------ -------- ------------------------
ENTITY_ID NOT NULL VARCHAR2(100 CHAR)
ENTITY_TYPE_ID NOT NULL NUMBER
SOURCE_ID NOT NULL VARCHAR2(512 CHAR)
XML_SCHEMA_ID NOT NULL NUMBER
JOB_ID NOT NULL NUMBER
FINGERPRINT NOT NULL VARCHAR2(100 CHAR)
ENTITY_XML_DATA CLOB()
ARCHIVED NUMBER(1)
CREATION_DATE TIMESTAMP(6)
MODIFICATION_DATE TIMESTAMP(6)
ARCHIVING_DATE TIMESTAMP(6)
CREATED_BY VARCHAR2(50 CHAR)
MODIFIED_BY VARCHAR2(50 CHAR)

The problem is that the data of the table are 40GB while on the DB the table holds 400GB! How can I shrink and reuse that space except from drop/recreate and drop/import?

The table has no initial data, so that I can play with the INITIAL parameter. Data are inserted, updated and deleted all the time. I have run DBMS_ADVISOR which recommended to SHRINK table. I have performed the shrink :

alter table STG_XML shrink space COMPACT;

but I haven't gained any space.
