I tried a lot to load data to table from excel(.csv) using sql*loader the oracle version of sql*loader doesn't support the control file created using notepad(.ctl).Though i given a filename with extension as .ctl it seems as a .txt file. Is there any alternate way to create it?

Actually, the name of my database was 'STAR' and I changed it to "FIVESTAR" int this .sql script. Now when I run this script with SQL> @ <path of my sql script>, it gives me the following errors:

I was doing some R&D on my test machine trying to understand how controlfile works. I started up my db and then deleted (renamed)the controlfiles at OS level. I was expecting the db to shutdown. But it dint. Moreover when i queried select name from v$controlfile; it was still reflecting the old controlfile names. To check if it was still functioning, i created a new tablespace with one file and it also got created without any error.
What i dint understand is how could the db still be running when the control file was'nt there and new tablespace and datafile get created? As i understand, whenever a new file is created, an entry is made in the control file. But when control file dint exist where was the data about new tablespace and datafile written?

i calculated it according to the following steps:

The maximum number of the data block in one control file is 20000.
1)How a single control file is enough to have all the transaction's SCN no for older transactions.
Eg - A transaction has the SCN 01 and after a month the new transaction's SCN is 502. Is the control file holding all those (01 to 502) SCN in it or just will have the latest SCN no (ie - 502).

View 5 Replies View RelatedI am installing Oracle 12c R1 on Windows 2012. The windows is configured as a domain controller. I am logged in as the domain administrator.I created a normal domain user -- DomainNameORACUSER. I provided this as the existing user id during Oracle installation.
The software installs fine, but when creating the DB using the database configuration assistant, an error is shown "error in process:...inoradim.exe. Enter password for Oracle service user: DIM-00019: create service error. O/S-Error: (OS 87) The parameter is incorrect". The DB is not created.
I skipped the db creation and completed the installation. When tried to create the db using the database configuration assistant after installation, I received the same error.I performed the same installation on Windows 8 and was successful in creating the db.
when i try to install Oracle 10g (10.1.0.2) 64- bits on windows server 2003 enterprise edition 64 bits service pack1 and i try for windows server 2003 standard edition 64 bits on a pc,i am getting the below error.

I have executed the below statement to move a bulk of table from source table space-SHOP3_DATA to destination tablespace -LINUX_CATA. Before executing the statement the source table space was having 85% full message . While executing the statement this is giving the error for the source tablespace means the the tablespace is getting consumed in the source TS. Currently no-one is using the tablespace SHOP3_DATA' . If I add datafile to the SHOP3_DATA the problem may be solved but why the space is getting consumed in the source. Now the tablespace SHOP3_DATA is 95% full

Upgrading from 10.1.0.2 to 10.1.0.5. Enterprise Manager requires 'newest' version of Oracle JDBC drive.Downloaded what I believe to the correct file (classes12.jar). I'm unclear what to do with this, my readings have pointed me in the following direction:
1) copy to c:oracleproduct10.1.0db_1jre1.4.1in
2) extract
here is the problem...tried:
1) just clicking on it (nothing)
2) c:program filesjavajre1.6.0_03injavaw -jar classes12.jar

where is My Mistake in Creating Cotrolfile..I want to know that in which condition we use "SET" or "REUSE" in Create Controlfile.
I want to create binary copy of control file every time I do backup. I am using sql "alter database backup controlfile to ''+FRADG/TESTDB/controlfile/controlfile.ctl'' "; in my rman backup script. If I run it second time I got errors as it does does not allow to overwrite existing one.

problem with oracle 10 g . i started service through server i got some error
ora-09925 unable to create audit trail file.
3 files are missing in admin folder these are three files adump, dpdump, pfile was missing i have not taken any backup also.
in admin file also the database folder name was missing.
i have successfully compuled and run my Developer9i form on the web but when i make a slight change in the form (add any control or do anything with form) and then recompile it it gave me error: FRM-30087: Unable to create form file why forms show this error and how it can be solved?

its standby archieving problem ,the problem appears when try to connect directly or through telenet and we try to login directly using oracle user we receving following message and login fail, "GDM could not write to your authorization file,this could mean that you are out of disk space or that your home directory could not be opened for writting"

I can see that any file name I try it looks after whateverFileName.dat! Is there a way to have sqlldr working with files that do not have extensions?
Is it possible to use where clause to discard one of the item which is not able to fit into column because of the length constraint.
Example:

I'm having a problem with SQL loader and the control file. I want to load a delimited file. The script will eventually be automated where the file name is passed in to the script, it's not a static name.
It's a simple SQL loader Unix script that I have created as follows

I believe the format of my control file is correct but for some reason it won't load.
I have a csv file extracted from mainframe which has to be loaded into oracle using sqlldr utility.The numbers are in the format +0000003333, -0000003232.44 etc
I have to convert it to 3333 and -3232.44 and insert into the table.
I have used syntax like
Load file....append into table (t_num expression "to_number(':tnum,'99999.999')")
This gives me an invalid number error.

The load fails with SQL Loader error: "Expecting valid column specification, ",", ")", found keyword EXPRESSION found instead of column. How the timestamp to a filename can be appended?
I am using perl script to dynamically generate the control file.If I have data in the control file as well as in the datafile, how would i write the control file in that case. Is the below one correct?

Is there any way that if my control file contains half of the data and my data file contains the other half of the data can i club this data into a logical record in the control file to populate the DB?
My exact 2nd requirement is, my DB contains 5 cols and for 1 col the data is common(countryName) which i have to pass to the control file dynamically and the .csv file contains the data for the other four cols. How could i combine these in the ctrl file and populate the DB?

I am trying to generate dynamic control file, as the files I want to upload are coming from different source and their name is constantly changing but following a fix pattern and naming convention.
I am able to generate dynamic control file through SQL. But while calling from BATCH file, i am unable to sent the file name as parameter.
All the examples i have searched are for UNIX, how to do it with BATCH File in WINDOWS.
