Server Administration :: Duplicate Database Using Dpexp And Dpimp?

I have Oracle 10.2.0.4 database on HP-UX. I want to move this to same version of database on windows on different server.I want everything to be same on both databases on different servers(names of databases can change).I installed oracle on windows box and created a database 10.2.0.4. Few questions
1) What is the best method to recreate complete database on another machine.In my case move 10.2.0.4 database on HP-UX to 10.2.0.4 database on windows. Is there a better method other than dpexp/dpimp?
2) When I created database 10.2.0.4 on windows it created sys, system and other default users. If I get a full export of 10.2.0.4 database on HP-UX it also contains sys, system and other default users. My question is, will there be any issue when I import full mode into 10.2.0.4 database on windows?
3) If I do with dpexp/dpimp what are the best parameters to be used?

I have oracle 10g running on Solaris with file system and some one created database files with same name but in different directories for example data01.dbf in two different directories, say /u01/oradata/data01.dbf and /u02/oradata/data01.dbf. Now, I want to find out the duplicate datafiles (data01.dbf in this case) sitting in different directories, is there anyway to find this out?

we are doing database upgradation 10g2 to 11gr2, while doing pre check before upgrdation ..we have found few duplicate objectes on sys and system schema..
SQL> column object_name format a30

im going to do drop only below objects ..

DROP TABLE SYSTEM.PLAN_TABLE;
and ignore below objects ...
DROP TABLE SYSTEM.AQ$_SCHEDULES;
DROP INDEX SYSTEM.AQ$_SCHEDULES_PRIMARY;
DROP PACKAGE SYSTEM.DBMS_REPCAT_AUTH;
DROP PACKAGE BODY SYSTEM.DBMS_REPCAT_AUTH;

I try to use rman duplicate database to bring entire databse form Windows XP system to another Windows XP. I have been trying to use rmain duplicate database without success.
I failed on "startup force nomount......". The system always prompt me an error as "ORA-12514: TNS:listener does not currently know of service requested in connect descriptor" and following by TNSLSNR.exe has encountered a problem and need to be close......"
I have tried to re-install the oracle multiple times and failed at the same problem as above. So, I am thinking of using imp and exp to do the work. Is it possible? If yes, how to do it.

I am trying to find the unix process for one of my application in the database but I am unable to view the same. To simulate, I did the following.
1. My database runs on different server.
2. I invoked "sqlplus" from another unix box to login to the database.
3. I found that the process id (ps -ef |grep sqlplus).
4. When I execute the below mentioned query it does not display the process id that I am looking for. But the osuser, username, program and machine details are correct. How can I know the process details from the database?

database administration , we are planning to use amazon cloud database , this database does not allow us to login to server machine , unfortunately amazon don't provide ssh to this machine , in general for doing any of adminstration task on the database will there be need to log into the machine ? we can always log in through toad or any other sql client but we cannot do ssh to server..general can this limitation effect administration ?

I am connected as System. It was the only user I set-up a password when installed the database on personal computer.

I have failed to duplicate target db for standby from active db using spfile with the following errors:
RMAN-03009: failure of backup command on prim1 channel at 08/11/2010 05:25:09
ORA-19558: error de-allocating device
ORA-19557: device error, device type: DISK, device name:
ORA-17627: ORA-01041: internal error. hostdef extension doesn't exist

The script has successfully created on standby db all controlfiles and also has copied 2 data files DATA01.DBF and DATA02.DBF into the correct location. Then the errors above kicked in and stopped the rman dup process.

see as i said keep on my database down in the night time around 9 pm. the OS redhat linux 5 restarting morning around 6.45 am.when i check alert_log there is no indication.when i check OS log , OS restarting around 6.45 amchecked in the log file in OS level

OS is restarting around 6.45 in the morning, but database getting down night around 9 pm itself why then in the morning if i bounce the database it starting with no problem

i m facing a problem in my databse when going to startup. sql> startup ora:00824- can not set sga_target due to existing inernal setting see alert log for more information . when i checked the alert log file i found
cannot set sga_target with statistics_level=basic. acutally last time i change the parameter statistics_level=basic scope=spfile (typical to basic).now my database is not open.what can i do to startup the database.I have no any type of backup.

I tried updating the oracle database from version 11.2.0.1 to 11.2.0.3 but I have no clear procedure. I chose the option of the installer "upgrade database" and install the software on a new home. To migrate, must be all oracle services stopped? In the migration phase, it is normal to ask me listener data, etc .... or installer now detects the same database?

If have several databases running on a 10.2.0.4 Oracle Home. I want to upgrade one of them to 10.2.0.5.
