Oct 13, 2010how to encrypt 9i database-link passwords? In 10g when we browse the link it show **** but in 9i it shows the actual password.

Aug 31, 2010We currently hardcode the password inside our Java application to make the connection with the Database,this makes the password to be visible to all users who can read the application code. How can we encrypt the database password so we don't have to hardcode it into the application?

I am planning to manually ask to input the password using accept command in sqlplus but this may be time consuming because there are many db links. So, I wanted to know if there are any better options ? Is there any way to use encrypted password in the sql file?

Pushing Encrypted Passwords In Oracle DB
Oct 13, 2010We have over 200 different servers that are running Oracle and every 2 months, we have our passwords expire. Instead of having the DBA's go into every server to sync the passwords I would like to have some sort of way of pushing the encrypted password in the Oracle DB to other databases.
Two things to keep in mind.
1) Every user may not be in every DB so if the user does not exist, the code should not try to update that users password
2) I have all my DB's in a tnsnames.ora file or I can put into an easy to parse file, so I can connect to every DB.

When I checked the status of $emctl status dbconsole. I got this error OC4J Configuration issue.
I was told by the forums to drop and recreate the repos. But I noticed the moment you drop the repos you will loose the passwords of SYSMAN and DBSNMP. emca -deconfig dbcontrol db -repos dropemca -config dbcontrol db -repos createI tried default passwords does not worked. it looks like the only option I have is to reset the passwords. but my main concerns is this impact the DB in generally or its common. or is there any other way we can get the OEM back(I already dropped the repos).

I read couple of blogs which discussed about automating the deployments through sqlplusconnecting as sys or schema user, will not work for us. Want to know if there is anyway I can import deployments without logging into workspace. We already have workspaces and applications. The database links have been created, and three databases are local.
When i am pressing the test button in emca . It gives notification database link not active.

May 12, 2010A procedure in a package uses a database link. The database link is defined without a username and a password. The user that uses the database link is supposed to be present in the opposite database as wel.
When the procedure is started in SQL*Plus or TOAD it runs perfect. But the procedure has to run in a scheduled job. And that doesn't work. The procedure fails because of: ORA-01017 invalid username/password. The user that is used to run the scheduled job is the right one.

Oct 26, 2013I have a staging which connects to RAC clusters via dblink..I have a scenario to collect the hostname,systimestamp whenever i do a query from this rac clusters
So in general below would be cool
select UTL_INADDR.GET_HOST_NAME,sysdate,x,y,z from gv$symmetric would work perfect
But on dblink..
select UTL_INADDR.GET_HOST_NAME,sysdate,x,y,z from gv$symmetric@dblink.is returning local timestamp and hostname which is not intended
So i even tried subquery..
select (select host_name,systimestamp from v$instance),t UTL_INADDR.GET_HOST_NAME,sysdate,x,y,z from gv$symmetric@dblink
this would work in certain case ...But it certain cases it would throw an error saying mutiple rows from asubquery .All ineed is to get hostname,systimestamp append to all sql i fetch from any this rac clusters through this dblinks.
