SQL & PL/SQL :: Statement Level Trigger To Get Rows?

Jun 20, 2012

I have written trigger to satisfy the requirement, when i write row level it comes out with mutating error on table which is very obvious, i have change it to statement level which is fine but it doesn't satisfy the requirement.

I want to capture the id column , which rows got inserted or updated .

Is there any way to get the newly inserted or updated rows as in case of row level i can get it form :new.id.

Validation In Database Through Statement Level Trigger

Mar 23, 2011

I have a table which contains data of all calcualted payements for a Land for a particular period i.e. for a Land 124 for the duration of Jan-2010 to Mar-2010 100 rupees rent is paid to the owner.Requirement here is that for a particular duration i.e is for Jan-2010 to Mar-2010 system calculation of rent for a land file multiple times where the table would contain history of each transaction i.e. a user can calculate for a Land 124 for duration fo Jan-2010 to Mar-2010 rent more than ten times and there would be ten records in the table but only one record out of these would be valid where the user cannot calcualte rent for Lnd 124 for Jan-2010 to Mar-2010 without updating the status of the last record in the table for the same land and duration to invlaid. I want to add this business validation through triggers as i am not able to do so through check constarinst.I want to ensure that only one record should be valid for a particular land for a particular duration since row level triggers do not allow us to query the table ion which the trigger is executing i am trying to use statement level trigger but i have a few doubts here: Incase of a Before Insert statement level trigger does the trigger have access to the data which is being inserted into that the table cause whenever a record is being inserted into a table the systen would check through the trigger that if there is a valid (payment_status is valid) payment record in the table for that same land file and same duration. If there is a valid record then the trigger would through an exception. I know you can use a row level trigger with an autonomous transaction should work wihtout giving the mutating table error issue but i wont to know if using a statement level trigger here is feasible!!

Updating Rows To Highest Security Level Of Missions Of Same Type

Jan 25, 2009

I am trying to update the security_level of a mission to the highest security level of missions of the same type.

Attributes of the missions table:

mission_id, code_name, mission_type_id, mission_date, security_level

The following is an intermediate output.

MISSION_ID MISSION_TYPE_ID SECURITY_LEVEL
318 3 6
329 3 2
286 5 6
521 5 3
281 6 4
396 7 3
331 8 4
14 9 4
230 9 0
486 10 2

The maximum output for each mission_type_id

MAX_LEVEL TYPE
6 3
6 5
4 6
3 7
4 8
4 9
2 10

According to this 3 records (329,521 and 230) should update.

But my code returns an error.
ERROR at line 4:
cannot update (......"SECURITY_LEVEL") to NULL

this is my code

UPDATE
AM_X_442_2 amx
SET
Amx.SECURITY_LEVEL =

I have intended the query to make it legible but it removes all spaces.

Update Multiple Rows With Different Values In A Single Statement

Jul 24, 2009

Updating multiple ROWS with different values using single statement. Requirement is to update one column in a table with the values in the other table.

Say we have 3 tables, CORPORATION,CORPORATE PROFILE and MEMBER.

Each MEMBER has CORPORATE PROFILE which in turn is associated with CORPORATION. Now I need to update MEMBER table with CORPORATION identifier for members who belong to corporations with identifiers say 'ABC' and 'DEF'.

MEMBER table contains column 'CORPIDENTIFIER '. CORPORATEPROFILE table contains MEMBERID and CORPORATIONID,this will associate a member with the corporation. CORPORATION table contains ID and CORPIDENTIFIER.

Using the below query I am getting error,ORA-01427:single-row subquery returns more than one row

UPDATE MEMBER M SET M.CORPIDENTIFIER=
(SELECT A.IDENTIFIER FROM CORPORATION A,CORPORATEPROFILE B
WHERE B.CORPORATIONID=A.ID AND B.MEMBERID=M.ID AND (A.IDENTIFIER LIKE 'ABC' OR A.IDENTIFIER LIKE 'DEF'))

Sub query in the above query returns multiple rows and hence it is throwing the error.More than one members are associated with Corporations ABC and DEF. Is there any way possible to update all the rows in single query with out iterating the result set of sub query.

Number Of Rows Inserted Is Different In Bulk Insert Using Select Statement

Jul 1, 2010

I am facing a problem in bulk insert using SELECT statement. My sql statement is like below.

strQuery :='INSERT INTO TAB3
(SELECT t1.c1,t2.c2
FROM TAB1 t1, TAB2 t2
WHERE t1.c1 = t2.c1
AND t1.c3 between 10 and 15 AND)' ....... some other conditions.

EXECUTE IMMEDIATE strQuery...These SQL statements are inside a procedure. And this procedure is called from C#.The number of rows returned by the "SELECT" query is 70.

On the very first time call of this procedure, the number rows inserted using strQuery is 70. But in the next time call (in the same transaction) of the procedure, the number rows inserted is only 50.And further if we are repeating calling this procedure, it will insert sometimes 70 or 50 etc. It is showing some inconsistency. On my initial analysis it is found that, the default optimizer is "ALL_ROWS". When i changed the optimizer mode to "rule", this issue is not coming.I am using Oracle 10g R2 version.
