SQL & PL/SQL :: Bind Variables - Create Or Replace Procedure

Jun 12, 2012

create or replace procedure my_proc(p_user in varchar2) is
l_cursor sys_refcursor;
l_query constant varchar2(1000) :=
'select a'
|| 'from ' || p_user || '.user_table'
|| 'where param0 = :x'
|| 'and param1 = :x'
|| 'and param2 = :x'

[Code]...

Suppose I execute my_proc many times and for multiple values of p_user. For performance reasons, will l_query be stored in the cache as I am using bind variables or it will not since I have the concatenation with p_user value ?

The whole reason for this table is testing big databases, so it does not matter what it contains. The reason I need to replace them is that this table will be dumped to a space delimited flat file and spaces within values are not acceptable.

SQL & PL/SQL :: Retrieving Multiple Values In Stored Procedure Using Variables And Cursors

Oct 6, 2011

The goal is to create a stored procedure that will retrieve multiple values from a table.

GUI is in Java and they will trigger our procedure to show list of all employees and their roles , doj etc.

So I wrote the following procedure.
---------------------------------
create or replace
PROCEDURE emp_test(
c_cursor OUT SYS_REFCURSOR)
AS
BEGIN
OPEN c_cursor
FOR
SELECT emp_name, emp_doj, emp_role FROM emp_table ;
END;
---------------------------------

I'm using sql developer, stored procedure is compiled and I can manually run it by right clicking on the procedure and click 'Run'.

When I intend to run it by executing the script "Execute Procedure name ", I get errors.

In SQL Developer, I open new SQL file and key in

EXECUTE emp_test;

Highlight it and run the script, here is the list of errors that I get.

-------------------------------------------
Error starting at line 18 in command:
execute frm_lst
Error report:
ORA-06550: line 1, column 7:
PLS-00306: wrong number or types of arguments in call to 'emp_test'
ORA-06550: line 1, column 7:
PL/SQL: Statement ignored
06550. 00000 - "line %s, column %s:
%s"
*Cause: Usually a PL/SQL compilation error.
*Action:
--------------------------------------------

Issue 2:

Instead of using cursor, is there a way to use multiple parameters and insert the data retrieved from select column_name from table into these parameters and build it in a stored procedure. I tried something like below which did not work.
____________________________________________________

CREATE OR REPLACE PROCEDURE emp_test1
(e_name OUT emp_name%TYPE,
e_dob OUT Edob%TYPE)
IS
BEGIN
SELECT emp_nam, Edob
INTO e_name, e_dob
FROM emp_table
END emp_test1;
End;
______________________________________________________

Just so you know, there is no input parameter or input feed, when called the procedure should return all the values.

2 21 211 2111
2 22 222 2222

So each Level(L1 ..L4) has zero or many child levels which further has more levels.With out using PL/SQL how can we write a Select query to give me a distinct of all children, all the way to the lowest level (L4).Example: give me all the children where L1 = 3.Result: 31, 32, 33, 311, 322, 333, 3111, 3222, 3333Is it possible to write such a query or am I asking too much logic out of a select and should go with PL/SQL.

i want to output the following:

IDDT CIDTXT
3451/31/2010123test6
3452/1/2010121test2
3452/2/2010112test3

[code]....

as you can see, i want to join both tables (table1 and ov_dates) and take dt from ov_dates table look it up in table1 and thengrap ov_dt and looking up in table1 and copy values of one row to the other.

for example, in ov_dates i have 3/31 dt and 4/7 ov dt. i will look for 3/31 and 4/7 row in table 1 and copy columns values from 4/7 to 3/31you can see that cid for 3/31 stay the same (since i dont want to replace the value) but txt value was replace with value from 4/7

another examplein ov_dates we have 1/31 dt and 2/5. so i go into table1 get 1/31 and 2/5 row and copy values from 2/5 into 1/31/ as you can see the txt column value for 1/31 becametest6 since it was taking from 2/5. the same thing for the rest ofdata

SQL & PL/SQL :: How To Fetch Values From Other Tables In Application On-submit Process

3.From_date
4.To_date
5.Remaining_days

The Emp_Master Table has the following columns,

1.Emp_id
2.Emp_Name
3.Remaining_days

Holiday_master table has the list of holiday dates as "From_Date"

I have the form based on the Leave_Transaction Table, and I have created the Process, as "On-submit-after computations and validations" and posted the following PLSQL code,

declare
days number(3);
ex_days emp_master.remaining_days%type;
new_rem_days emp_master.remaining_days%type;
begin

[code]....

If the Dates is between from_date and To_date comes in Saturday and sunday and/or if any Date is exist in the Hpliday_master table it will exclude and return the count(*) remaining dates, For example,

If the From_date is 04-may-2012' and To_date is 08-may-2012,

Here the dates 5th may and 6th may are "saturday" and "sunday"

and if any date between From_date and To_date is exist in Holiday_Master Table i.e say here it is 07-may-2012, Then the remaining dates are(excluding sat,sunday and dates in holiday_table),

04-may-2012,
08-may-2012.

so the count(*) is 2.

I am using the above code but still it returning 5,I think this

...where to_char(dt,'fmday') not in ('sunday','saturday') minus (select holiday_start from holiday_master))

code is not working.
