Forms :: Updating Multiple Records

Mar 30, 2010

I have a form with two data blocks, one parent, one child block.

The parent is holds mineral lease info while the child holds the mineral owner info, such as addresses and phone numbers. One owner can be in the owner block multiple times (different owner types). The form only displays one owner at a time.

We have a separate master owner table which holds owner address. (We set it up this way because we get electronic info from mineral companies that we have to load each year).

As you tab through the owner block, it checks the FEIN against the master table and pulls updated address info from the master table.

I have a problem in which if an owner is on the lease multiple times, when you tab through the first instance, it pulls in the new address info, but when you go to the next instance, it won't update. If you requery, it seems that the first update actually updated all the owner records on that lease. How can I turn this off?

Updating Multiple Records In A Table

Oct 29, 2012

OS:Solaris
DB:10G

I have a situation where there are multiple records for a join criteria. I am trying to find a way to update a particular column for all the records returned by the join criteria. Example :

Table A

id number

1 1000
2 2000
3 3000
4 4000

Table B

id number
1 9999
1 9999
1 9999
1 9999
1 9999
1 9999
2 8888
2 8888
3 6666
3 6666

Result after update:

Table B

id number
1 1000
1 1000
1 1000
1 1000
1 1000
1 1000
2 2000
2 2000
3 3000
3 3000

update query ? When I use a update statement with where exists it errors out because the query returns more than one row for the join condition.

Creating Self-updating Views With Data Selection?

Aug 4, 2011

I've got a Source Data in complex relational formFor reporting purposes, a simpler, less normalized data model is neededThere are two Target views from the Source Data: one of them with full access to all datathe second one with access only to a subset of the data (same columns, but not all the records)For both target groups, a separate schema shall be available, each containing only relevant dataToday, these schemas are physically located on the same DB instance and host as the source dataA daily refresh is sufficientA later relocation of the reporting schemes to other DB instances shall be possible without major changes neededOracle 10g should be used I tried to accomplish this using Materialized Views (Materialized seems better since there will be sometime a need to have all the apropriate data somewhere else, geographically, AND it provides Complete Refresh from the Source), but there is a problem: when creating the MV there is a possibility to type 'SELECT *' - but after execution it changes into real columns names. It is important because later after adding a new column into Source Data it WILL NOT appear in MV after refresh.

I also thought about Data Guard, Streams and RAC, but I think only in the Materialized Views you may choose the data to show (rows, columns).

SQL & PL/SQL :: Procedure To Update Or Insert Data In Multiple Tables

Apr 9, 2011

I'm writing a Procedure which Updates or Inserts data in Multiple tables. Selected fields of 10 tables need to be updated or Inserted. For this I created a table which comprises of fields related to all 10 tables. Then I write Procedure. Under this I create a Cursor which uploads the data from the newly created table which contains different fields of 10 tables. Then I write Update and Insert statements one by one for all 10 tables.

Sample Procedure below.
-------------------------------------------
Create or replace procedure p_proc as
spidm spriden.spriden_pidm%type;
cursor mycur is select * from mytable;
begin
for rec in mycur
[code]......
----------

Note: I created table on my server because data is coming from different server. They will upload the data in the table from there I pick and update the tables. Is updating or Inserting data in different tables one by one is correct?

SQL & PL/SQL :: Store Data From Multiple Places In Materialized View?

Apr 14, 2011

I have a PL/SQL procedure which gathers data from multiple places as well as calculates some data. I want to store all this in a materialized view.So, I created an object type (I've shortened the definitions):

CREATE OR REPLACE TYPE mf_record_type AS OBJECT
(identifier VARCHAR2(6),
name VARCHAR2(100));

Then created the table type of the object:

CREATE OR REPLACE TYPE mf_table_type IS TABLE OF mf_record_type;

Then in the stored procedure defined a variable of the table type:

v_mf_record mf_table_type := mf_table_type();

Then I loop and populate the record type:

v_mf_record.EXTEND(1);
v_mf_record(x) := mf_record_type(v_rec.identifier, v_mf_detail.name);

When all that is done I try and create the materialized view:

EXECUTE IMMEDIATE ('CREATE MATERIALIZED VIEW mf_snapshot_mv AS
SELECT * FROM TABLE (CAST (v_mf_record AS mf_table_type))');

ORA-00904: "V_MF_RECORD": invalid identifier

Am I doing something wrong here? Can't I create the materialized view based on something other than a physical table?

Forms :: Entering Multiple Data In A Form Containing 4 Blocks

Jul 18, 2011

I have 4 blocks in my form which is basically used for travel booking for the employees in a company within India

1) Header block :- contains info abt the person who is booking the tickets for number of employees. Here i have given booking no a primary key.

2) Employee Detail :- Here the basic info of an employee is entered. Here i have taken booking number as a foreign key and then given emp_cd & booking number as a composite primary key.

3) Travel Detail :- Here the travel detail of individual employee will be entered wherein a unique trv_no will b generated 4 every single travel. Again i have taken foreign key as bkng_no frm 1st blck and emp_cd frm 2nd blck and tkn a composite primary key which comprises of bk_no,emp_cd and trv_no. this is used to maintain the uniqueness for single travel.

4) Vehicle Hotel Details :- This block is placed on different canvas for same form.It is meant for Other details in which details regarding hotel,vehicle etc booking aftr reaching the destination is entered. In this block thrs no primary key, but i hv taken the composite primary key of 3rd block as a foreign key since thr will be multiple entries for this one entire travel.

At every level there will be multiple entries for each corresponding entered record. I am able to enter one single record properly i.e. for 1 emp i am able to enter multiple travel details and his other requirements but asi try to enter more then one employee info, his travel details, other requirements i face an error stating foreign key constraint violated.Parent key not found for 3 rd level block.

How can i get the desired o/p wherein all the multiple records for every single subsequent record are stored correctly taking all the constraints in to consideration.

Forms :: Saving Data From Multiple Datablocks Into New Table?

Aug 19, 2010

I have a form with 2 datablocks, datablock 1 is the datablock in which I want to write data too that table within the database.

datablock 1(which i want to insert data too) is:

In forms layout this simply consist of a display box at the top of the screen which is populated by a LOV from another table within the database. The lov value selected will then be placed in the appropriate field of the table. For example the LOV contains a list of every single car make there is. i.e. Renault, Ford, Vauxhall etc

datablock 2 (in which i just want to read data from, and write the data to the table used in datablock1) is:

Below this is my second datablock, which on the trigger 'on-new-form-instance' reads data from an already existing table and displays a list of every single make of car ie, focus, clio, megane, astra etc (tabular layout displaying 12 records at a time). Beside these car models will be a checkbox which is a non database item, originally unticked.

What I want to do is the user selects a car type from the top LOV say Renault for example, then they will go down the list of car models checking each and every model of car Renault makes, i.e clio, megane, etc when these models are all checked, and the user clicks save, it will insert into my table (which is the top datablock) the car which was selected From the LOV at the top, plus each and every car model which has a checkbox checked. So for example, say the user selects Renault from the top LOV and checks models clio, megane, laguna. There should be 3 entries in the table consisting of:

Renault, clio
Renault, Megane
Renault, Laguna

Now I have got it to work partially, in the fact that if I load the screen, select my car type and then multiple models that it will add 1 car type and model to the database but not the others which I have checked. I think I need it to go down each row and check if the value is ticked or something like that? using row id or something?

Here is the code I have so far: Just so you know car_model is the name of my table used as my second datablock, contains all car models as u would expect.

BEGIN
if :model_chkbox = 'Y'THEN
v_model_id := :car_model.id;
INSERT INTO NOTE_ACCESS_DEFAULT (car_type, model_id)
VALUES (:car_type, v_model_id);
end if;
EXCEPTION
WHEN OTHERS THEN
MESSAGE('SQLERRM: ' || SQLERRM);
END;

Another option was to do a loop and go through each record and see if it is checked, not sure how I would implement this but it does seem like a very inefficient way to do such a task, perhaps it would be something to do with when a checkbox is ticked stamp it or something.
