SQL> grant sysdba to sys;
grant sysdba to sys

ERROR at line 1:
ORA-01994: GRANT failed: password file missing or disabled
SQL> shutdown immediate;
From the postings I read I shutdown the DB and I created a new orapwd file:
$ orapwd file=$ORACLE_HOME/dbs/orapwSID password=password entries=30 force=y
SQL> startup;
Started the DB, verified that the password parameter is set to EXCLUSIVE.
SQL>show parameter password;
NAME TYPE VALUE
------------------------------------ ----------- ------------------------------
remote_login_passwordfile string EXCLUSIVE
SQL>
SQL> select * from v$pwfile_users;
no rows selected
SQL>
Shouldn't the sys user be listed in the v$pwfile_users?
I have Toad 9.6.1 already installed on my machine and have now installed Toad 10.6 . unfortunately the Save Passwords option on the Connection screen is disabled. how do I enable that option.
I want to know what if any person don't know the password of SYS, can he create password file, becauase i dont know the password of sys users, generally login with '/ as sysdba',
Actually I was performing "grant all on table_name to user_name;" to grant the privilege but 1 of my friends suggested "grant all on any table to user_name;"
We have a procedure which compress and email a file (account stmt) to 100s of customers daily. Need protecting that zip file with password before emailing.
It is something similar to credit cared statement where only the recipient should able to open.

I am creating prim and phy standby on same WIN machine. I have done with all settings. I can do TNSPING to both oracle_sid.I am trying to connect as sysdba to UP the phy standby. But it gives below error:
Enter user-name: sys as sysdba Enter password: ERROR: ORA-12560: TNS:protocol adapter error
So i tried creating password file for phy standby. But gives below error:

orcl>Why can I get a sys login, when I am connecting through the listener and giving an incorrect password? The listening address is a loopback address, is Oracle clever enough to realize that I am in fact logged on to the server as a member of the OSDBA group? I didn't think that information was passed through SQL*Net.
3 recover database using backup controlfile;//in this step generate error msg "database not mounted"
4 alter database open// this is also happend above error
ORA-01122: database file 1 failed verification check ORA-01110: data file 1: '/u01/app/oracle/oradata/DB11G/system01.dbf' ORA-01207: file is more recent than control file - old control file
I took database backup without "change the controlfile configuration autobackup on".. and unfortunately i deleted my controlfile. Then I tried to restore my controlfile but it gives error,now how can i restore controlfile is there any other way to restore controlfile with aautobackup..

Could we skip the backup of the above missing files using RMAN -> backup database skip inaccessible;On further research, this would compromise tablespace SYSAUX recoverability...Questions:
1) What caused the above missing files to get created? 2) What is recommended: Recover the datafiles?
We have been getting the below error message, while backing up the DB(Full DB backup) via netbackup. The DB version is 10.2.0.3 (64bit). The archive backup goes fine. the problem is with the full backup.

I came to know that this is a netbackup configuration/client bug. Can we do something from the oracle side.
The RMAN COMMAND STRINGS we use is as follows:
SET SNAPSHOT CONTROLFILE NAME TO '/u101/app/oracle/product/10.2.0.5/db_1/dbs/iwhdbqa_snapshot_db.snap'; RUN { ALLOCATE CHANNEL CH01 TYPE 'SBT_TAPE' parms='SBT_LIBRARY=/usr/openv/netbackup/bin/libobk.so64.1' ; SEND 'NB_ORA_SERV=atlbackupmaster, NB_ORA_POLICY=iwh-dbqa_oracle, NB_ORA_CLIENT=iwh-dbqa-bu'; ALLOCATE CHANNEL CH02 TYPE 'SBT_TAPE' parms='SBT_LIBRARY=/usr/openv/netbackup/bin/libobk.so64.1' ;

I reviewed the /oracle/PRD/saptrace/diag/rdbms/prd/PRD/incident/incdir_583361/PRD_ora_7179_i583361.trc, it hugh file with alot of Jargon.
I downloaded Oracle Fusion Middleware11g Forms and Reports (ofm_frmrpts_win_11.1.2.0.0_64_disk1_1of1). When I begin to extract I am getting bogged down with a password message and that is:
File Windows-amd64 is password protected. please enter the password in the box below.
BTW- I downloaded Windows64 based forms and reports on my windows xp pro machine. I am trying to unzip them and burn it on a DVD so that I can install them on my new dell windows 7 professional laptop.
I want to export all db using data pump. I got this error when using it:

I would like to store user-id, password and the TNS-Entry in a small text file and pass them to a script to log in and execute another script on the database from Windows.
Example of the text file samp.txt that stores user info:
I want to create pdf file of a report with password protection for security reason with. eg. Employee A is logged to run rep1. The pdf file created to his desk with his userid & password.
I found there is clear password in the xml file in the process of Oracle instance creating. The process like below
1, when using the following process to create the instance
Login as user Oracle /home/Oracle11home/bin/dbca -createDatabase -silent -templateName /home/Oracle11home/assistants/dbca/templates/Small.dbt -gdbName testDB -sid testSID -sysPassword testpwd -systemPassword testpwd
2. Found the file in $ORACLE_HOME/checkpoints/dbca/OraDb11g_home2_oracle_creation_checkpoint.xml , it listed the sys and system passwd (like testpwd for sys and system password) directly.
