Replication :: Oracle Tables From 10.2.0.4 To 9.2.0.6?
Nov 19, 2009
Are there any recommendations to replicate oracle tables from 10.2.0.4 to 9.2.0.6 ?
I am new to oracle, thinking about streams and material views. And not sure which option should we choose ?
Any pros and cons (especially related to the versions). Can I use streams to replicate 10.2.0.4 to 9.2.0.6 ?

We are using Oracle Streams for replication.
Column datatypes in some of the tables on Source and Destination are different (Number on Source and Varchar2 on destination).
Do we have to create any rule or dml handler to handle this or Streams will automatically take care of it?We are oracle 10g.

I have to reorganize one table that related to several other tables. The reorg is too slow when it runs on this table. I would like to create one image of the table and synch it with the original one in real time. So when I run the reorg, I will use the image table that does not constrained by indexes and other objects. Once the reorg is done, I would like to rename the table. how could I do the replication in real time?

Is it possible to replicate table data on real time from sql server (2005 32 bit or sql server 2000 32 bit)to oracle 10g running on linux 64 bit? If yes then what are the steps.
It will be one way replication from sql server to oracle. Which option is best sql server dts or Oracle Stream replication to replicate table data.

I came across an implementation where data from DB2 tables are moved to Oracle tables, for BI solutioning, using some oracle procedures called from MS SQL DTS packages which are scheduled jobs.Just being curious, can this be done using OWB or ODI rather than the above detour. I suppose there are some changes being done in those procedures before the data is being loaded into Oracle tables, can't this be done using OWB/ODI? Can it be scheduled too as jobs using OWB/ODI?

I want to set up advance replication for 3 master site (multimaster) I created 3 master site named orc1,orc2,orc3 and followed up oracle replication management of API book instruction I created 2 tables(tes1,test2) in hr schema in all 3 master site with the same data. then I created the following steps
1-CONNECT repadmin/repadmin@orc1
2-Create the master group named hr_test_repg
BEGIN
DBMS_REPCAT.CREATE_MASTER_REPGROUP(
gname => 'hr_test_repg');
END;
/
4-add tables test1 and test2 to the group
BEGIN
DBMS_REPCAT.CREATE_MASTER_REPOBJECT(
gname => 'hr_test_repg',
type => 'TABLE',
oname => 'test1',
[code]....
I could create DBMS_REPCAT.GENERATE_REPLICATION_SUPPORT for test2 but not for test1 and it produces error

RA-23309: object hr.test1 of type TABLE exists

I have one 10g database in other country. I want part of their db (selected tables or tablespaces) and import that data to my 10g DB and i want keep to date this data.
I know two ways
1. Data Pump Imp/Emp via FTP, but i can't send only data that have changed (incremental), i must pumping whole selected part of database (i want only new data from their DB, but consistanse with my DB)
2. RMAN etc. or other archivisation tool, i can do incremental achivisation, but can i send files to another instances (my db) and load only that data? Can i do that with SQL*Loader?

For using replication in our production, here i am testing golden gate as replication tool. I tested all scenario in Uni direction ( source to destination). Now have to test replication with DDL support in Bi-Direction. Not getting any Doc for doing replication in Bi-direction( Two Way). If any one has done the same, then please share limitation of replication in Bi-direction through Golden Gate.

I Have configured the replication between two database's at table level. After few miniuts of successful configuration of replication between two db's at table level, I am getting the ORA-00001: unique constraint (%s_PK) violated error in dba_apply_error.
I checked constraint name,type and status on table replicated is same on both source and destination db.

Am trying to implement Oracle Streams Replication (Using Metalink Note 733691.1).I have configured the steps, but in my alert log am getting the below error:
Check that the primary and standby are using a password file and remote_login_passwordfile is set to SHARED or EXCLUSIVE, and that the SYS password is same in the password files. returning error ORA-16191
am successfully able to connect db's both server
From 1st server
sqlplus sys@2nddb as sysdba
From 2nd server
sqlplus sys@1stdb as sysdba
while conning it is asking for password
Both DB's are created with Same Oracle sys user password. after this disabled case sensitivity , still the error persists.

We have Transactional replication setup between SQL (publisher) to Oracle (Subscriber). Every other week replication will stop and when i look at sql error logs i see the message 0ra-01722. We have engaged microsoft to have a look at this problem and their conclusion is that everything in sql is setup correctly. The dba's managing oracle have as said there are no error messages on their logs. I have compared the datatypes of the table in sql and oracle and everything matched except for the one highlighted in yellow(see attachment). how we can figure out why we keep getting this ora-01722 message.

We need to transfer data from oracle 10g to Oracle 9i in the following condition.
There will be two database server , one is online server where online user fill the form which is generated by java, spring , hibernate and using database 10 g. at day end i need to execute a process that transferring data from online server to offline server that is in oracle database 9i. This process is scheduled. Some security reason client do not kept this two database on same network. My challenge is that transfer data from online server to offline server with applying client security norms.I have option like:
1) Using Oracle replication method, creating materialized view on remote server , refreshing it at regular interval. but database connectivity is not contineous, should i go for that ?
2) Write java application on intermediate server where we write process to get the connection of this two database servers. From java application we call the procedure for selecting data from Oracle 10g and insert into oracle 9i database and using flag on both data to identified how many rows are transfered and how many remaining for trasfer.

We are using Oracle 10g rel 2. The replication is setup on 1 server which is in City A, and the snapshot server is in City B.
City A .
Create materialized view log on table-a
with primary key
including new values.
City B database.
Create user test_rep identified by test
grant connect, resource, create any materialized view , table, view , procedure to test_rep.
Create materialized view city-A_db_MV
refresh fast
select * from cityA.Tablea@city-Adb
When i select from city-A_db_MV, it showed the complete table-A of city-A database.
Now if we make any changes to City-A table at the Master site, will it be propagated automatically to the MV site.
I guess we need to create jobs to push / or refresh fast .. isnt it. But exactly how to do it is a question.
Secondly if we make a replication group at Master site at city-A db, how do we refresh that Group and how to monitor whether it is refreshing on time or not? do we need to see the jobs every now and then.
but still a lot of questions unanswered, even though i had read the documents earlier.
1-The MView was created without identifying that after what interval it will be fast refreshed.
2- How to Manually refresh it. Does it support On Commit, I think it is not.
3- Where should be we make a group and then add the table to that group and refresh that group.
Should this group belongs to the Master Site or to MV site?

We have three unix servers with four databases (10gR2) containing "HP Operation Management Unix" (OMU) server messages for monitoring purpose, and we now want to transfer these data to one new database on a new server for reporting purpose.
The message table in each OMU database keeps the message row until it is "Acknowledged" or for maximum fourteen days, then it is moved to an historic table where it stays for another three days. Keeping data for only seventeen days are a performance issue.The new "Reporting database" is intended to hold messages data for the last 90 days.
I wonder which method to use to move/replicate data against the databases? Materialized view using database link, with view on top of the MVs. How to keep rows longer than the master (source) table, avoiding deletion when master row is deleted
Oracle Streams, with local capture and remote apply. How will this influence on the master database performance. There are about 10000 new messages in each OMU database every day. Is it possible having four streams connections against the reporting database ?
Or should I simply use database triggers which fires after insert and update and applies changes to the reporting database using database links ?

Till now my company used Share Plex for replication 6 DBs from different location to one server (used for BI operations).
1) Replication in in real time
2) All DBs are Oracle but different versions 9 and 10 .
3) We have horizontal and vertical replication. We replicate just some tables, for some tables just some columns and for some tables just records with some conditions
4) We have different charsets.
5) SharePlex have compare/repair tool to check it DBs are in sync mode
I started to look for Oracle Streams to use it instead of SharePlex. Do you know if it is able to handle that type of replications? Do you know about any Oracle Streams limitation which eliminates it?

IS there a general rule to enable/disable a trigger before a refresh.
