SQL & PL/SQL :: Loading Unique Text File Names With Utl_file
Oct 9, 2012I am using an Oracle 8i database.We intend creating a dbms_job that would run every 5 minutes. The job executes a script that would use utl_file to read two text files (a header file and detail file) from a particular directory and load the data into temporary tables. The naming convention of the files are Parts_Master_DD/MM/YY HH:MI:SS and Parts_Stats_DD/MM/YY HH:MI:SS. Both files to be stored in the same directory.
If the file name was constant ie. Parts_Master, Parts_Stats I would not have a problem. However with each file name now going to be unique, how do I handle this using utl_file. To add to my dilemma, within an hour more than one set of files could be piped to the directory to be read into the database.

Feb 26, 2013I have a query then I write it to a text file using utl_file. However, I'm having some trouble formatting the data itself on the text file. =(
How would I align these records against its header considering the length of the Name/subscriber no. column which is not constant. Would LPAD work?

Oracle Forms PL/SQL - Create Text File For Multiple Records?
May 15, 2003i'm working on a project right now using Oracle Forms 6.0 and Oracle 9i. after i create a record and save the data in the table, how can i generate/create a text file of that particular record? i need this text file in order to run it in another computer and somehow upload the data in the text file to another database.
i will also need to create the text file for multiple records.

On one of the text items i want to enter a value and then check whether the same value for the item has already been entered on any other records within the block.
If it has already been entered then i want to display a message and null out the field.
I have tried using app_record.for_All_records from a when-validat-item trigger but this does not work as you get a 'FRM-40737 Illegal restricted procedure go_block in when-validate-item trigger ' error

Sep 3, 2013i encountered a big problem after upgrading Apex from 4.1 to 4.2.2. On an application page there is a Text Area which will be read and processed after clicking a button. I didn't want a refresh of the page and did it with a dynamic action.All this worked like a charm with 4.1. Since the upgrade, the value of the Text Area is always returned as null while processing the dynamic action, but the value is filled by the user!When i change the type of the Element to Rich Text Area everything works fine, but i don't want this because i don't want HTML in the corresponding table. Is this a bug? How can i workaround it?

I have two table emp_perm & employee.
1) Table emp_perm is a lookup table with 2 columns, temp VARCHAR2 & perm VARCHAR2.
Table emp_perm have below data in it:-
temp perm
1064885 0349034
0099982 7399982
6476456 9170346
5252525 52525252)
Now table employee might have following combinations of rows.
Records for both Temps file (1064885) and perm file number (0349034) does exist in employee table, in this case Delete Temp File Number records i.e. 1064885 and keep Permanent File Number (0349034) records as it is.
Records for only temp file number(0099982) does exists and corresponding perm file(7399982) does not exists in employee table in this case convert these records i.e. update 0099982 with its perm file number 7399982 using lookup table emp_perm.
Records for only perm file number exists (9170346) and corresponding temp file number (6476456) does not then do not amend employee table, as we are interested in perm file numbers.
If file number does exist in lookup table in emp_perm and both of them are equal (5252525) then do not amend employee table as temp and per file number are same.

If there were, for instance persons from different nationalities, French, German, English, ..., I woluld like to read the first unknown number of persons from France and process that data, and then continue with the unknown number of germans and process that, and so on.

Actually I have done some search but with no result. I have to check the oracle DMP file which is being sent through the EXP utility from oracle and have to search for a pattern in the file. If the pattern in found then send a mail.
I have tried using the GREP on the DMP and SED but as the lines are longer than expected these are not providing desired results.

Aug 30, 2012we are generating Entity beans at java appication. where application is connecting to DB and copy Table structure in Java class file. when this process start, oracle process takes 100% CPU. while there is no wait event at DB level. only queries are fired on oracle sys tables.(user_tables,user_constraints,etc..)
On trial and error based, we have changed this parameter and that java process works fine. how this parameter effect the on oracle system table.

ORA-27047 / Unable To Read Header Block Of File
Apr 26, 2011I am trying to create standby with oracle 10g R2 from Solaris 5.10 (sun ultrasparc X86-64 bit) to Solaris 5.10(Intel Xeon 64 bit). All the mount points are the same as primary server. All the data files are at location as specified in control file. I created standby control file from primary. All the control files are at location specified in pfile.
When I am trying to mount database I am getting following error.
ORA-00202: control file: '/oracle/BP1/ctl1.dbf'
ORA-27047: unable to read the header block of file
ORA-205 signalled during: alter database mount...
I try to open database with trace file also but got following error..
ORA-01503: CREATE CONTROLFILE failed
ORA-01565: error in identifying file
'/oracle/BP1/sapdata1/system_1/system.data1'

Create File With (other) User Having Read Permission When Using Utl_file?
Dec 23, 2012We have a requirement to create a file using UTL_FILE package. so we tried to generate the file in directory at UNIX level,for example "/tmp" which means when we executing the stored procedure which in turn calls UTL_FILE package and create a file say "a.txt". On checking the permission for "a.txt", it shows as follows
-rw-r----- oracle dba a.txt
this means read and write for oracle user, read for dba group and no permission for other user.
our requirement is to have the following privileges at UNIX level.
-rw-r--r-- oracle dba a.txt
Is it possible to do at oracle level since the file is owned by oracle user or at UNIX level (with out logging to oracle user)?
Environment: UNIX AIX 6.1 and Oracle 11.2.0.3
