Am creating a form for some processing text files available in a local users system. Now I would like to get the directory name from the user using dialog box and read the files
[ I am already reading the file, but I allow the user to select the specific file name using get_file_name ]
I want to read all the files present in a directory of client's machine.
However I have achieved this by creating java class in database but the problem is it accesses the directory of machine on which database is installed not the client's machine.
I have oracle client and I tried to access local directory of client's machine to read all the files in that directory but it didn't work.
However, I achieved this by creating one java class for ex. test.class and I run it locally through command prompt but I want to achieve it using Pl-sql.
I am trying to pass a list of names from one table as a variable to another table and trying to find the Highest level they exist at in the hierarchy. I am having some troubles with the variable and need some guidence and also if this should be a procedure or not.
this is what i have now :
Variable man_name Varchar; exec :man_name = (Select full_name from direct_manager_report) UPDATE direct_manager_report Set Manager_level_number =
[Code]....
Let me know what modifications have to be done for this the variable to get the name from table 1 and find the manager level from table 2 and populate it back in table 1.
During a duplicate process to a new database name, rman crashed after the restore but before the switch datafile all.So now, we have under ASM the data files under the correct (new) diskgroup but v$datafile contains the previous names (and so diskgroup) and v$datafile_header is empty. RMAN is completly lost, our solution is to manually rename each file under SQL*Plus using ALTER DATABASE RENAME FILE. Unfortunately, we are using or migrating to OMF, so file names are meaningless and we are unable to associate ASM files with database files.
Any way (query or anything else) to associate the ASM files to the database files. Here's an abstract of what we have for one (small) tablespace:
ASMCMD [+ORAXQG1_L136_DG1/ORAXPG1/DATAFILE] > ls -l N47CAW* Type Redund Striped Time Sys Name DATAFILE UNPROT COARSE NOV. 12 10:00:00 Y N47CAW1.276.799152039 DATAFILE UNPROT COARSE NOV. 12 10:00:00 Y N47CAW1.318.799151641 SQL> select file#, name from v$datafile where ts#=17 2 / [code]...
I have Select list itemS based on Lookup tables. When the form in Edit mode, I want to prevent the end user from changing the value of these Select list items. How can I accomplish this ??? **If I change the type of the item to Display only, then it will show the returned value of the Select list.
We have recently shifted our database from 10G to 11G and after the intial hickups most of the thinghs have stablised. We had changed system by Alter System command so that database does not have case sensevity problem and with that all the reports from the forams have also stabilied However some of the forms are failing with the above error ORACLE ERROR Unable to read list of values
These form are running fine with users having DBA privelege. However other users this is failing.
We have also checked that with users not having DBA privelege we are able to read the data in the table within the form also. The query in the record group is very simple
"SELECT CODE,SHORTDESC FROM GENCODES WHERE CODETYPE='BS' AND CODE <> '00'"
All these forms were fine previously when database was on 10g.
Moreover there are many other fields where list of values are there and allthose are ruing fine.
I have also checked datatype and length in query as well as fields on the form
Exception: ERROR at line 1: ORA-22285: non-existent directory or file for FILEOPEN operation ORA-06512: at "SYS.DBMS_LOB", line 716 ORA-06512: at "usr.LOAD_CLOB_FROM_XML_FILE", line 39 ORA-06512: at line 1
I dont want to create directory as such ('/usr/home/oraj/log') as it is already exists and all log files sits there.
CREATE OR REPLACE PROCEDURE Load_CLOB_From_XML_File IS dest_clob CLOB; src_clob BFILE := BFILENAME('/usr/home/oraj/log/', 'abc.log'); dst_offset number := 1 ; src_offset number := 1 ;
This generates a CSV file in an directory. When it runs for the 1st time it take SYSDATE -7 data. After the 1st run it appends the data since the last run. Now my problem is the appending happens at the bottom of the file and every time the header appears. I want the header only the first time and the new data should keep appending at the top so that i get the latest data always at the top.
I have an issue when I enable auditing feature in oracle,I use 'DB' to store the audit from user in oracle, my command is
SQL>alter system set audit_trail=db scope=spfile; SQL>shutdown immediate; SQL>startup;
in show parameter audit, I see that the audit_trail already changed to DB after I create a user and enable audit for this user, I can see in the audit table dba_audit_trail for insert, update, delete,etc but If I am not wrong, if I using DB to setting the audit parameter then I will get audit file both in oracle table and in adump oracle folder installation, but in my case I cannot find any file in adump directory.
my operating system is windows7 and I use oracle database 10g express edition
I am using an Oracle 8i database.We intend creating a dbms_job that would run every 5 minutes. The job executes a script that would use utl_file to read two text files (a header file and detail file) from a particular directory and load the data into temporary tables. The naming convention of the files are Parts_Master_DD/MM/YY HH:MI:SS and Parts_Stats_DD/MM/YY HH:MI:SS. Both files to be stored in the same directory.
If the file name was constant ie. Parts_Master, Parts_Stats I would not have a problem. However with each file name now going to be unique, how do I handle this using utl_file. To add to my dilemma, within an hour more than one set of files could be piped to the directory to be read into the database.
I have question on the following, that gets defined for the bad file and the log file
BADFILE 'bad_%a_%p.bad' LOGFILE 'log_%a_%p.log'
What does the %a and % p indicate? Also if I wanted to get the value of %p and %a into a variable how would I do it? I want to be able to append %p and %a to the below variable, but unsure how to achieve it..
I noticed that listener file in diag/trace is rapidly increasing. I am using 11g Rel 1 on window 2008 server Its 1 GB in couple of days. Is there any way if I can turn it off ?
I have an application where I generate a excel using data in a table and write excel file in oracle directory.Now my requirement is to open that file from local machine .How can i achieve it.I am using Apex 4.2,Oracle 10g .
I am often supplied with a list of numbers to query against & normally take the easy option of editing the file & placing the select on each line. Like so. what to do to loop this. The input file would just be the numbers in a flat file.
Select status from thetable where MPN=01234567890; Select status from thetable where MPN=12345678901; Select status from thetable where MPN=23456789012; Select status from thetable where MPN=34567890123;
I have a requirement to load the csv into DB using oracle forms or pl/sql code, but the problem is they are asking to load the csv file which will not come in sequence every time.For Example: File1:col1 col2 col3 col4 file 2col3 col2 col4 col1 file 3col4 col2 col1 col3 Depending on the header we need to load the file,Can we load like this or not?
From a script how I can read a local file (where I have the sql client)?
I have an Oracle database on a server, and I connect from another machine with SQL Developer.I want to read a text file on my local machine ( where I run my script) to use the data in the script.I never want to read or write on the server.
Reading on internet i read about UTF_FILE package But what is not clear to me is, this is on the server or client ?Also some people says UTF_FILE can work both on client side and server side.Also I read about package text_io, but I think it is only for forms.
