Does cache buffer chain latch and buffer busy wait event are related to one any another.
Latch definition from Google says : Latches are simple, low-level serialization mechanisms to protect shared data structures in the system global area (SGA).
what does it mean my protect. Does this mean protects from aging as per LRU algorithm and getting removed from SGA
or
protect from other processes ,say from example from simultaneously DML operations.
or
both
Does buffer busy wait event occurs , because of the cache buffer chain latch ?

I need a PL/SQL code to convert an excel file to xml file.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have written a Java class which generate and place the XML file in a particular location. This the java class is loaded into Oracle using the loadjava command. When I call the sql java procedure java classn will be called and the XML file is generating.
But my problem is with xml header i.e in the header it is getting as
<?xml version = '1.0' encoding = 'UTF-8'?>
Where as I am generating the xml file from by just java call instead from Oracle the header is as follows
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" ?>
I am thinking that this could be reason with different jar using Oracle side.

I need to execute a .sql file in an oracle stored procedure.
View 9 Replies View RelatedWe are running a store procedure by calling it from shell script.The shell script is running in Server1 and the stored procedure is running in server2(which is the data base server.).
Functionality of the stored procedure:Generating a tab delimited file and place in a directory.
Requirement: The requirement is that the store should be modified in such a way that it should drop the output file to Server1 itself(The server from where it is getting called).
Attaching the store procedure for reference. mIn the store procedure,we have a variable "lv_file_dir" which currently refers to the directory location in Databse server(Server 2) We have to change this SP such that it drops the generated file in Server1 itself(From where the shell script is running).

I can send mail with UTL_MAIL using this:
CREATE OR REPLACE PROCEDURE send_mail_file_seti IS
BEGIN
UTL_MAIL.SEND_ATTACH_VARCHAR2(
sender => 'mail@from.com',
recipients => 'mail@to.com',
message => '<HTML><BODY>See attachment</BODY></HTML>',
[code]........
What I want to do is send mail attaching a file from file system. For example, I have this file:
/oracle/pmp/file
I want to send it using a procedure like the one above.
The Utility should have a procedure that will be able to accept a schema and table name and produce CSV file for that table.
This is what i have so far:
CREATE OR REPLACE Procedure print_table (schema_name varchar2, tab_name varchar2) IS
BEGIN--begin procedure
DECLARE
vpath varchar2(100) := 'C:UsersUserDocumentsDocsDBAProject';
[code].....
It works outside of the procedure but the nature of the question requires a stored procedure.
I want to get all the column values in a table and save them into a text file.Beside UTL_FILE, is there any other method which will result better performance in writing to text file?
noted that the data does exist 32k.
send me the procedure for loading the data in an oracle table into an excel file.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI need to email an excel file as an attachment in the mail through oracle procedure. I am using UTL_TCP option.
The remote_host i use in test environment is the 'name of the test server'. This test server is a oracle10g database on AIX server.In the test environment the mail works fine.
utl_tcp.open_connection(remote_host => 'test server',
remote_port => 25,
tx_timeout => null);
The same thing if i use in production environment, it does not work. The production server is a 9i database on a unix server.
utl_tcp.open_connection(remote_host => 'prod server',
remote_port => 25,
tx_timeout => null);
Does the 10g has option to host SMTP service as apposed to 9i?
I need to create an Oracle Stored Procedure to read a Flat file(pipe delimited) and load the data into an Oracle table. I believe the file should be located in any of the path as logged in dba_directories table or it can be anywhere on the local client machine?

This is regarding a problem we are facing during report(.xls) creation which is done using a procedure triggered by a job run.
The report file(.xls) file is not getting created when the job(using dbms_scheduler) calls.
The procedure uses utl_file to create an .xls file
We have a folder on the path /oracle/tata_aig_life/websales/dnld . This folder( dnld ) has the all the priviliges drwxrwxrwx.
We have a job scheduler as the attachment which in turn triggers a procedure(check the code attachment for the scheduler and the procedure).
In the procedure we first remove the file(.xls) created in the path and then recreate a new .xls file.
The reason for first removing the file and recreating is that the existing file is not getting updated with a new file when the job is run.
We capture the exceptions in a table. In the table the following exception is logged :ORA-29283: invalid file operation
The job is triggered and the files are created on the path mentioned in the procedure on the UAT Environment..
Also the files are created when we manually run the same procedure in the path.

I have countries, sites, states tables (total 3) in database (i have user id and password to connect to this database).
every week i need to extract data from these tables into excel files and i need to save those in shared drive for team use.
Currently i am connecting to database every time running sql query and manually exporting that latest data to excel and saving that as excel files in (G: eamcommon) folder with specific name.
output format should be :
excel (.xls)
file names should - countries.xls,sites.xls,states.xls
server name : ap21
output location : G: eamcommon ( G is shared drive).
i heard that we could create batch file to do this task and also we could use oracle procedure to do this task. but not sure which one is the best option.
when i am calling stored procedure with input and output parameters from batch file .. I am getting the following message ..

I would like to know the buffer size using by our dba when he set export?
I know that it's possible to define it when we realize the export but its possible to know this value after export?
There's a sql*plus command to find this value?
N.B : we dont have documentation
Its for an urgent need.
I have a few questions and doubts regarding to cache buffer chains and lru chains.
1. What can possibly cause the cache buffers chain ?
2. Can it be resolved by increasing the free lists and increasing the inittrans of the block after identifying the hot buffers? (The table spaces are not a ASSM.)
3. How can we classify where the cache buffer chain is caused? Is there anything like extent level, header level? ( i don't understand this part due to the reason i see many operations against cache buffer chain event in stats pack reports).
4. Is cache buffer chain is related to the cache buffers chain event too?
5. In such case, tuning either of the contention will resolve the other if both exists?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to create a table with a select statement. I want to populate this new table with the aggregated value from a VIEW. Following is the code used for creating the VIEW,
create or replace view FINAL_WEB_LOG

CS_USER_AGENT,
tab_to_string(CAST(COLLECT(web_link) AS t_varchar2_tab)) WEBLINKS

I want to create a table with WEBLINKS and SESSION_ID which is a sequence from another table.
CREATE TABLE FINAL_WEB

UNION
SELECT session_id

This now gives me the following error,
SQL Error: ORA-06502: PL/SQL: numeric or value error: character string buffer too small
This has to do with the field, Weblinks, it does have longer values.
I am running script which drop all public synonyms and create private synonyms for all eligible objects. I am passing value to procedure through cursor and I am using dbms_output.
