I have a Multi layer Mviews and Views which i use to load a table. There are three base level Mview which is accessed by 4 views ... which are in turn accessed by a view which is used to load a table.
Before the insert called for the table .. the base mviews are refreshed.
I get the "ORA-01410 Invalid Rowid" error while inserting in to the table and while refreshing the mviews. They don't occur every time and not together as well.
The Mviews contains table joins and the top level views which accessing these mviews does aggregation. Below is the mview query for one of the mview.
SELECT DISTINCT c.fiscal_time_id,
a.product_group_id,
a.allocation_driver_id,
a.hyp_entity_id,
d.business_division_alt_id
[code].....
The Refresh method for the mview is Force.

I'm working on a Java Web Application
(User input(jsp)<-->Controller<----->DAO<----->Database) project where the user submits certain fields (partyId, DocId, cbrxPath, cbrValue, nodeId, TRANSLATION_Class and so on)and they are saved in 3 different tables (Party_Document_Node table, Routing and Routing_Node table).
Here's the portion of the DAO code below where the problem is:
public class AssociationsDAOOracleImpl implements AssociationsDAO {
private static final String PARTIES_WITH_ASSOCIATIONS = " Select distinct(party_id) from PARTY_DOCUMENT ORDER BY 1";
private static final String ASSOCIATION_FETCH_QUERY = " Select PARTY_ID, DOCUMENT_ID, NODE_ID, APPLICATION_CONTEXT_XPATH, DOCUMENT_LOGGING FROM PARTY_DOCUMENT_NODE WHERE PARTY_ID = ? ORDER BY PARTY_ID ";

private static final String ROUTINGNODE_FETCH_QUERY = " Select CONTENT_ROUTING_VALUE, TRANSLATION_CLASS FROM ROUTING_NODE WHERE PARTY_ID = ? AND DOCUMENT_ID =? AND NODE_ID =? ORDER BY PARTY_ID ";
private static final String CONTEXT_FETCH_QUERY = " Select CONTEXT_VALUE, CONTEXT_INSTANCE, CONTEXT_KEY FROM APPLICATION_CONTEXT where party_id = ? and document_id = ? and node_id = ? ";

I have a procedure that is run weekly to load the data, for which it calls another procedure. This weekly procedure, disables the index, load the data, and rebuilds the index. During rebuilding of index, its giving ORA-00054: resource busy and acquire with NOWAIT error. I dont have privileges to look for session id, and kill the session. How to avoid this error.
create or replace
PROCEDURE "WCL_WEEKLY_UPLOAD" (
p_event_id IN NUMBER
)
[code]....
As you can see, after the procedure wc_upload, COMMIT is issued, and then the rebuilding of the index is starting. So dont know what is causing the table to lock.

I was comparing cost of rebuild vs create index...I carried out the following test
SQL> create table t4 as select * from t1;
Table created.
SQL> create table t5 as select * from t1 where 1=2;
Table created.
SQL> create index i5 on t5(id);
Index created. SQL> select bytes,extents,blocks from user_segments where segment_name='I5';
BYTES EXTENTS BLOCKS
---------- ---------- ----------
65536 1 8
SQL> alter index i5 unusable;
Index altered.
SQL> alter table t5 nologging;
Table altered.
SQL> Alter session set skip_unusable_indexes=True;
Session altered.
SQL> insert /*+ append */ into t5 select * from t1;
563904 rows created.
SQL> commit;
Commit complete.
Now I compared the cost (elapsed time, logical I/O) of the operations
create index i4 on t4(id);
Vs
alter index i5 rebuild online;
Following is the related trace of above 2 steps
create index i4 on t4(id)
call count cpu elapsed disk query current rows
------- ------ -------- ---------- ---------- ---------- ---------- ----------
Parse 1 0.00 0.00 0 1 0 0
Execute 1 1.17 3.38 9497 7869 335 0
Fetch 0 0.00 0.00 0 0 0 0
------- ------ -------- ---------- ---------- ---------- ---------- ----------
total 2 1.17 3.38 9497 7870 335 0
Misses in library cache during parse: 1
Optimizer goal: CHOOSE
Parsing user id: 5
[code]....
So which option we shall pick in such cases? {Of course I haven't set 'nologging' for the indices but it is same for both indices we are comparing}

We have separate tablespaces for Tables and Indexes. Also Temp is in different temporary tablespace and UNDO also in UNDO tablespace and Index tablespace contains only Indexes. The tablespace usage for tables is 80% and Index is 91%.There is not enough disk space to allocate for the datafile on our system. I ran a rebuild on one of the Index but now notice the Index tablespace is 98% used soon after the rebuild finished.
How can i free up space for Index tablespace and why does the size of Index tablespace increased after the rebuild.

Our database size is 100GB and i removed few records from a table and rebuild the index.The size of Index reduced considerably after Index rebuild but now i see our database size increased to 115GB.I know online rebuild creates second index which is also removed after the build is finished then why the increase in database size?Is there a way so it shows up more space ?
select sum(bytes) from dba_segments where owner='abc' and segment_name='abc_index_1';
8GB
ALTER INDEX abc_index_1 REBUILD ONLINE ;
select sum(bytes) from dba_segments where owner='abc' and segment_name='abc_index_1';

I have a procedure as below. To sum up the procedure in one line it dynamically forms a string to get the values of the type which is passed as an input to the procedure.
I call the procedure as
exec exec_imm( exec_imm_t(1,'asd','1/2-34'));
ERROR:
Error starting at line 9 in command:
exec exec_imm( exec_imm_t(1,'asd','1/2-34'))
Error report:
ORA-00904: "P_TYPE_DATA"."ADDRESS": invalid identifier
ORA-06512: at "PTK_ADM.EXEC_IMM", line 26
ORA-06512: at line 1

NOTE:
When I try to execute the procedure with the execute immediate statement I get the above error. But when I execute the select statement which is nothing but the value in v_type_data directly (as seen in the comments in the code below) there is no error. But when the same v_type_data is used in execute immediate, I get an error.
CREATE OR REPLACE procedure exec_imm(p_type_data exec_imm_t)
AS
v_type_str CLOB := NULL;
v_type_data CLOB := NULL;
v_type_name VARCHAR2(25) := NULL;

I observed logical corruption in one of the database, while running select on some tables observed ORA-01410: invalid ROWID error. These errors or errors related to this logical corruption are not reported in alert log file.
Since our database is in NOARCHIVELOG mode and regular backups are not happening through RMAN (weekly cold mount point backup to tape),
i was not able to use RMAN to investigate block corruption.
So used DBVERIFY on all datafiles of database to check the consistency of datafiles, and found DBV gives error for one of the datafile - 'Completely zero block found during dbv:' As i mentioned earlier, we are not taking regular backups using RMAN and database is in NOARCHIVE mode.

I'm working on an RDF report. This report runs as a part of Payment Process in Oracle Payables. This report has the printer style as BACS. The layout has only main section. The body of the main section of the report has only one repeating frame and the body field inside the frame. The body field gives concatenated values from the select query. I have to modify the SQL query(where clause) of the report. After I change the query and save it, the report compiles sucessfully on report builder.
However after following payment process and submitting request, the report fails with error:
'REP-1222 Invalid Body Size.'

I've tried repeating the sub select for each of the extra status parts but everytime i hit the same problem.
