View 5 RepliesI downloaded the 11G 64bit for windows and unzipped the files into one folder and ran the setup.exe as an administrator. It opened up the java screen and I chose, create and configure a database. Next screen I chose, Desktop Class, when I click next it dies. It does not show me teh next screen. I went to the appdata folder and saw this error but not sure what to do EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION (0xc0000005).
View 10 Replies View RelatedI have Oracle 11g database home in my 64 bit Windows 7 machine. However, now i would like to install Oracle 10.2.0 client as well. I tried giving a separate location.
But for some reason, whenever i start the Setup and run the Administrator Type, the installation just skips without giving any errors. It just creates the inventory folder in the specified path. It goes to the Product-Specific Prerequisite Checks and exits without giving any warnings or errors.
How to Install Oracle 9i client software on Windows 8 64bit?

Session/Installer variables are specified using:
[session:]varName=value
Ex 1: session:ORACLE_HOME_NAME="OraHome"
Ex 2: ORACLE_HOME_NAME="OraHome"
The lookup order is session:varName then just varName. The session prefix is
used to avoid ambiguity.
Component variables are specified using:
[compInternalName:[Version:]]varName
Ex 1: oracle.comp1:1.0.1:varName="VarValue"
Ex 2: oracle.comp1:varName="VarValue"
The lookup order is compInternalName:Version:varName, then compInternalName:
varName, then just varName.

DB: Oracle XE 11g2 32-bit
APEX: 4.0.2
=============
Trying to upgrade APEX within an Oracle XE database installation on Windows 7. The version of APEX that came with Oracle XE is 4.0.2. Trying to upgrade to 4.1.1 and, from the SQL*Plus command-line (ie. the 'Run SQL Command' tool which comes with Oracle XE), I try to run @apexins.sql.
It starts to run momentarily, then the MS-DOS windows just closes. Can not find any install log to determine the cause.
I have an issue during the database configuration using DBCA at 85% it blocs, then it displays an error asking to reconfigure ORACLE_UNQNAME.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have installed Oracle virtual box on windows host and have created Oracle Linux virtual machine as guest. I have installed the database server on my host machine but rest of the things(Peoplesoft peopletools etc....) on Oracle Linux guest. Now, I am trying to installed database client on guest machine which is Linux so that I can connect to DB server running on host, but having difficulties in doing so.
, I am following the installation instruction given in the doc docs.oracle.com/cd/E11882_01/install.112/e24322.pdf, but when I finally run command runInstaller.sh doesn't happen anything.Actually, to install other software's I just double clicked the .sh file and it automatically started the installation process on a terminal window but when I clicked runInstaller.sh to install DB client, it didn't do anything.
Also, when I run the same command runInstaller.sh from command line after navigating to the directory where this file is present, It throws me error saying "no command found".By the way, why the steps given in doc are so complex, I wish If I could just double click runInstaller.sh just like others and it start the installation process.

Is the x64 version of the Oracle 10g client certified for Windows 2008? Has anyone successfully installed the 64bit version of the oracle client on win2008?
We have a workaround in place with 32 bit version of the client running with the 32 bit version of the .NET application on x64 win2008. However to maximize the infrastructure we need to use the 64 bit version or we would have to turn to MSSQL Server .

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am facing strange problem, I installed 9i and 11g on same machine which is running windows server 2003 service pack 2. I set ORACLE_HOME and PATH of both versions different and both are installed properly.
But when i try to create new database using oracle 9i DBCA after reaching step 8 DBCA becomes unresponsive whereas i am able to create new database using Oracle 11g DBCA. After searching the entire net i am not able to troubleshoot the problem. Moreover in both version i am able to access using CMD and i got the connectivity.
I configure the listener for both on different port but when i run oracle 9i the screen shows first connectivity of oracle 11g sql* plus after that it is going to connect to oracle 9i this is my second issue. My system RAM is 1GB total is this is also be the reason for the above problem.

View 5 Replies View RelatedMy question is; I've been reading the Oracle database 11g R2 documentation at this link [URL]...
I passed a couple of days learning about all installation configuration parts including the desktop class and server class. As I was learning, So I had already downloaded Oracle Database Express 11g R2 for win32.
So as i had finished the installation guide I thought it's time to install the oracle now. I did it, and what I found was that there was not any option during installation that i read in above documentation. While trying to find about this difference i reached on documentation[URL]...
That is for express version only.
My question here is, Express edition, we use for learning purpose, But it doesn't look like it has all the stuff that we should learn during installation And what documentation I should follow from my above given two links?
I tried to install Oracle 11G (release 11.1.0.6.0) on my Desktop whose operating system is Windows Vista Business Service pack 2.I chose as kind of installation: Personal Edition but I had the following error messages (the same happend when I chose Eenterprise Edition):
ORA-00445 error PMON does not start even after 120 sec at the time of instance starting up. If I gnore it I have ORA-01034 Oracle not available.I couldn't check the trace file of PMON under bdump and the alert log file under udump because these directories were not yet created.
I checked also the environment variables ORACLE_HOME and ORACLE_SID and they were OK.i also checked the Ram available(I've got more than 2GB) and the available space on disk (I have more than 300 GB on C)
What should I do?? Do I need install any specific patches???I am Oracle Certified professional 10G DBA and i need to install 11 G to do the exam of upgrading Is there any other Oracle versions that i can download freely and that work with my operating system?

View 2 Replies View RelatedMy Oracle 12c Release 1 installation on my Windows 7 Professional 64 bit laptop seems to be stuck or hung or whatever you call it. After downloading file1 and file2 from OTN using wget, I copied the files to c:oracle12c directory, renamed them so that they are zip files winx64_12c_database_1of2.zip and winx64_12c_database_2of2.zip that Windows can recognize, without the authparams used by wget. I unzipped both, extracting all files, and they are now in the c:oracle12cdatabase directory. I double clicked on c:oracle12cdatabasesetup.exe and the installer started. My computer overheated and shut down abnormally. I restarted my computer. Then started over with clicking on setup.exe, using dbhome_2, instead of dbhome_1 that was used in the aborted installation. My computer met and passed all of the prerequisites. I followed all of the steps carefully. It finished the Oracle database installation, finished with the Net Configuration Assistant, then started the Oracle Database Configuration Assistant. The task bar has been stuck at 86% for at least a half hour now. Clicking on details shows:
