Forms :: Resetting The Sequence And Dynamically Displayed Block

Is there any way could alter the sequence depending on specific condition to start with 1 in the form builder?
i wanna to reset the sequence to 1 whenever the month change.is there any way?
Could i make detail block invisible and whenever button pressed i will display the block? I want to put the where clause for that block in the button and if the button did not pressed i want to display nothing in the detail block?

i have a cursor which selects the codes based on the school records now i have a multi record block b1 the requirement is that if no of records selected in cusor is 10 then in block b1 10 records should be displayed and if it is 15 then 15 records should be displayed. Is there any way that i can set the no of records displayed in a block dynamically.The block b1 is non database block i am only using a create_record to populate the block.

In my form I have a submit button, when i click on it a sequence number to be generated and displayed in a text box.
I have created a sequence and tried inserting into table, it works fine however it's not getting displayed in form.
Note: Tried giving sequence.sequence_name.nextval in initial value of the text box, didn't work showed FRM-11324 error.
--When button pressed--
DECLARE
v_seq number(20);
BEGIN
select seq_name.nextval
into v_seq
from dual;

I have a Master block and a Detail Block. They are related using two columns, Document_ID and Page_no. I want to display all the records in master table with corresponding detail records beside them in single line. i.e., as shown below:
MasterItem1 DetailItem1 DetailItem2 DetailItem3
I created the relation between them and executed query. When I execute query in the form, I can find that all the Master Items are displayed in vertical records, but i can only see one record of detail fields. They are displayed as shown below:
mitem1-value1 ditem1value1 ditem1value2 ditem1value3
mitem1-value2
mitem1-value3
mitem1-value4
When the navigate down in master items, then the corresponding detail values are being shown on the same first record.

I have query in that query i should display the number of row. I have tried to select the row num but when i use it the data will be duplicated. I have found something that related to use temporary table, or subquery but all of them will not work because the query depends on many tables and if i use temporary table filling the table and then reading from it will take too long time.

in my procedure i am creating a sequence on the fly, i am preparing the name with some passed parameters like below
v_seq_name := 'seq_'||loadid||v_table_name;
execute immediate 'CREATE SEQUENCE '||v_seq_name||' MINVALUE 1 MAXVALUE 999999999999999999999999999 START WITH 1 increment by 1 cache 20';
and now after doing some operations i need to assign the current value of sequence to a number variable i tried following but not working
1) v_curr_value : = v_seq_name.currval ;
2) select v_seq_name||'.nextval' into v_curr_value from dual;
how i can get the value in plsql block.

I have a master table A that has 10+ columns along with data and a configuration table B that has only 2 columns i.e table name and column name. For ex:-
Table A:-
C1 C2 C3 C4 C5 C6

1 2 3 4 3 6
4 5 6 5 5 5
Table B:-
Table_Name Column_Name

A C3
Now I need to write a sql script that should take the table A Columns defined in Table B and then based on the columns it should spool the columns output from Table A.
For above ex:- I need to spool the C1,C2,C3 columns data from Table A in to some Unix path using SQL SCRIPT.

I have a block in the form which is based of a table as data source and so when i query on the form using a execute_query inbuilt statement is fired and all the records in the table behind is retrived and displayed. Also if i need to update any record i can do in on the screen and use commit_form so that all the changes go into the underlying table. Now my problem is when i retrieving my records i want to filter those records based on some conditions to be displayed in the form and not all records to be retrieved. Is it possible to do it if I am using the execute_query inbuilt and my block is based of a table?

In my application (forms6i) initially data will be displayed in a non-database block after a lot of calculations and validations which is time consuming.
Now, if the user want to print it as a report, we store the displayed data in a dummy table and run the report using that dummy table and then delete records from it.
Is it possible to pass the records displayed to the report as a parameter so that I can avoid Unnecessary add/delete records?

I need to populate records from a child table when the user clicks on a record in the header table..The difficulty is that the user needs to be able to edit a field from the child table and there could be 1 to many records. When the user makes a change , I don't want the 'do you want to save changes' error to appear..

My item field based on data block and checkbox based on control block,while i checked chkbox1 , only item31 on that current record should be enabled and i changed value only on that field

i have a master detail form, In Master block we have one field cheque amount and in Detail block we have field receiveable amount invoice wise. if company paid us a cheque amount we will enter this amount in Master block field Cheque amount and in detail block there will be invoice wise receivable amounts. i want to distribute the cheque amount in detail block invoice wise for example
Cheque amount in master block = 291
Invoice wise receiveable amount is as follows
Invoice No , receivable amount , Received amount
10, 196 , 0
20 , 95 , 0
30 , 54 , 0
Result should be as follows:
Invoice No , receivable amount , Received amount
10, 196, 196
20 , 95 , 95
30 , 54, 0
Received amount field should be distributed according to the receivable amount when recevied amount = cheque amount then remaining will be 0.

I have a multi record control block (basically a text item displaying 6 records) where user enters values and I want to process the values using pre-insert trigger.
I want to read value in each record and then do some tasks using a pre-insert trigger before I commit the values. To navigate between the records I was using first_record, next_record, clear_record built-ins but it gives errors like "40737-illegalrestricted procedure next_record in pre-insert trigger".

I am working with an asp.net/vb.net application whose users have oracle accounts to connect to the application.The database is set up to allow three failed login attempts. When connecting directly to the database, the sys.user$ lcount field increments on unsuccessful login attempts, and resets to 0 on successful login attepts. This is what I expect should happen.
However, when logging in through the application, using:
objConnection = New OracleConnection(m_strConnectionString)
objConnection.Open()
the lcount field sporatically increments on unsuccessful login attempts (sometimes it does, sometimes it doesn't), and never resets to 0 on successful login attempts. I would have expected it to behave as it does when connecting directly to the database.
Why does the lcount field not reset on a successful login through the application? How can I make it increment on each unsuccessful login attempt and reset on each successful login attempt?

I'm wondering how I can use a counter to number records in a table I'm inserting into. I need the counter to reset based on changing data in my table. For example, I have the following
seq_number name_type
1 Short Name
1 Short Name
1 Short Name
2 Short Name
2 Short Name
I'd like my results to be the following:
seq_number name_type
1 Short Name - 1
1 Short Name - 2
1 Short Name - 3
2 Short Name - 1
2 Short Name - 2
I'd like my counter to increment so that I can add a sequence number to the end of my name type, but when my seq_number field changes I'd like to reset and restart my counter.

We have procedure that writes text to an Excel file.
The 10g database is setup for US7ASCII character set. This causes the characters on the Excel spreadsheet to appear strangely. As an example an 'a' would appear with a character similar to '~' on top of the 'a'.
If there anyway of resetting the character set at runtime of the procedure.

My supervisor wants to remove all the archivelogs since it was just a test for 1 year the DB is not actually YET been used. Problem is they want it to be used as soon as possible w/o recreating again the database and just removing some data on tables and removed archive logs. how to safely removed the existing archived logs and create a full backup with archived fresh to sequence 1.

When I checked the status of $emctl status dbconsole. I got this error OC4J Configuration issue.
I was told by the forums to drop and recreate the repos. But I noticed the moment you drop the repos you will loose the passwords of SYSMAN and DBSNMP. emca -deconfig dbcontrol db -repos dropemca -config dbcontrol db -repos createI tried default passwords does not worked. it looks like the only option I have is to reset the passwords. but my main concerns is this impact the DB in generally or its common. or is there any other way we can get the OEM back(I already dropped the repos).

I just found out that the LISTENER I've creating with a password was with "-inherit" settings. Twice I succeeded in doing this, but it seems that it's not working when I tested it. Thus, I opted to get rid of it's listener.bak file and set the password again. Now I just can't stop it because of this error message: "TNS-01169: The listener has not recognized the password".
I've tried every passwords I made, and tried resetting it, but I'm not successful either, it's the same error message.My last option would be to restart the db Server (since the original listener.ora is already intact),

I am working on 6i reports.I have below scenario to achieve.
I have FIND window and MAIN Window.
FIND Window: contains EMPNO, ENAME,and FIND button.
MAIN WINDOW: EMPNO, ENAME, SAL, JOB
If i enter something in FIND window, by clicking FIND button, it will populate data in MAIN window.I have below query in WHEN BUTTON PRESSED TRIGGER.

REQUIREMENT: i want to pass where statement dynamically. Let us say if i pass only empno in FIND window, i want to pass 'WHERE empno=:FIND.empno' to existing select statement [I will keep select statement same without where condition]
If i pass empno and ename both, i want to pass 'WHERE empno=:FIND.empno and ename=:FIND.ename.
How to pass where condition to existing select statement based on parameters we pass in FIND window.

I've got a situation where I need to populate a list box of lab numbers when the user selects a matching date received date.
Right now it only works when the user presses enter on the field used to accept a date.
It also works when a user fills in date and then clicks twice on the listbox of lab numbers. (assuming there are some records for the date in question).
Both fields are in a data block that is not connected to a table. Here is the when-mouse-doubleclicked trigger

I am trying a pl/sql block which which take a string and execute it dynamically. Suppose below is string

Now trying to execute it. using below

Now what i want is M_STR vairable to executed as
SELECT CHK_DEPT(P_CODE=> DEPTNO,P_CODE_TYPE => 'STATE') FROM EMP WHERE EMPNO='7499'
instead of
SELECT CHK_DEPT(P_CODE=> 'DEPTNO',P_CODE_TYPE => 'STATE') FROM EMP WHERE EMPNO='7499'
other in other way in parameter P_CODE Column value of DEPTNO should be passed.Also note that DEPTNO column in string M_COL is Dynamic.i.e
