I am trying to migrate 6i forms to 10g on vista machine . If i compile pll or fmb files in 10g,I am able to run the form only once. If i close the form and try to open it again,form builder crashing.
nothing is opening after compiling once in 10g. I reattached all the pll files to forms after compiling..This even does not worked.
I am having problem in installing 9i on vista I installed forms 6i successfully but when installing 9i database it is not installing properly.

View 10 Replies View RelatedI tried to install Oracle 11G (release 11.1.0.6.0) on my Desktop whose operating system is Windows Vista Business Service pack 2.I chose as kind of installation: Personal Edition but I had the following error messages (the same happend when I chose Eenterprise Edition):
ORA-00445 error PMON does not start even after 120 sec at the time of instance starting up. If I gnore it I have ORA-01034 Oracle not available.I couldn't check the trace file of PMON under bdump and the alert log file under udump because these directories were not yet created.
I checked also the environment variables ORACLE_HOME and ORACLE_SID and they were OK.i also checked the Ram available(I've got more than 2GB) and the available space on disk (I have more than 300 GB on C)
What should I do?? Do I need install any specific patches???I am Oracle Certified professional 10G DBA and i need to install 11 G to do the exam of upgrading Is there any other Oracle versions that i can download freely and that work with my operating system?

I migrate some forms&reports 6i to 11g, i have some issues on screens. they are
1.In some of the migrated screens the prompts are not properly aligned. In some cases the Prompts which were in bold are converted to regular fonts.
2.The font size have increased, due to this the data are not completely visible in the fields. Do we have any provision for reducing the font size so that this gets applied for all the screens instead of changing the font size in each screen?
3. In case of Push buttons the names of the buttons are not fully visible.
4.The reports are not getting generated if we access the Application using Google chrome.
I'm trying to migrate our forms application from a Linux platform to Windows 7. We have a common pll which is attached to all forms and unfortunately relies heavily on globals.
Attempting to run the application with the standard library attached to the login form has the effect that the globals are lost between the login form and subsequent forms. If I incorporate the library code directly into the login form, it functions correctly. If I use the debugger to track where the clearing occurs, it functions correctly.
I have installed Developer 10 suite and 6i on same machine, developer 6i run time works properly but when i open URL with "?config=icc" it says form generated in previous version of forms builder, i have already compile called form (configure in default.env and formsweb.cfg) in forms builder 10g.

I am writing a program for doing some file transfer between the client machine and the application server.I am using Webutil_File_Transfer.Client_To_AS to do the transfer and also using Webutil_File.File_Size to check on the file size at the source.
Once the transfer is complete, I also need to check on the destination file size (the application server running on Linux) for verification purposes and can't find the way to do it.
How can we get client ip address and machine name in oralce forms 10g without webutil.

I am working in a project on which I need to migrate around 500 forms from Forms 6i to Forms 10g/11g. I browsed through the pages present in orafaq and found out that there is a tool provided by oracle called "Oracle Forms Migration Assistant" to do this activity.
I installed Oracle Development Suite-Dev 10g in my machine, however I am not able to find out "Oracle Forms Migration Assistant" tool in it, is there anything other software component that I need to get installed to get Oracle Forms Migration Assistant.
Im trying to install Weblogic/Forms on a Windows 7 x86 machine. Its for the developers to use.But when I run the config.bat and is creating the domain and installing Forms builder and the other stuff the installation hangs at: step restaring admin server started.

Automatic startup and shutdown oracle on linux Oracle database server provides two scripts to configure automatic database startup and shutdown process.
The scripts are,
$ORACLE_HOME/bin/dbstart
$ORACLE_HOME/bin/dbshut
Now let's look at unix level script. When a unix machine boots it runs scripts beginning with Snnname in /etc/rc3.d.
-Here the number nn indicates the order in which these scripts will be run. The name just indicates the function of the script.
In the same way shutdown scripts are named as Knnname which are run from /etc/rc0.d.
If we want that Oracle is the last program that is automatically started, and it is the first to be shutdown then we will name the startup and shutdown scripts on OS like /etc/rc3.d/S99oracle and /etc/rc0.d/K01oracle respectively.
The database script dbstart and dbora will be called from OS script /etc/rc3.d/S99oracle and /etc/rc0.d/K01oracle respectively.
Note that dbstart and dbshut take each SID, in turn, from the /etc/oratab file and startup or shutdown the database.
Automate Startup/Shutdown of Oracle Database on Linux
Step 01: Be sure that oratab file is correct and complete.
Check for oratab file either in /etc/oratab or in /var/opt/oracle/oratab.
Database entries in the oratab file have the following format:
$ORACLE_SID:$ORACLE_HOME:Y
Here Y indicates that the database can be started up and shutdown using dbstart/dbshut script.
If in my database there is two database named arju and arjudup then my oratab file will contain the entry like,
arju:/var/opt/oracle/product/10.2.0/db_1:Y
arjudup:/var/opt/oracle/product/10.2.0/db_1:Y
where /var/opt/oracle/product/10.2.0/db_1 is the $ORACLE_HOME of my database.
Step 02: Create a script to call dbstart and dbshut. In this example I will create one script that will do both startup and shutdown operation. I will name this script as dbora and will be placed in '/etc/init.d'.
a) Login as root.
b) Change directories to /etc/init.d
c) Create a file called dbora and chmod it to 750.

d)Edit the dbora file and make the contents of it like below.

View 1 Replies View Relatedat my Oracle 11gR2 (11.2.0.3.0) Instance i have two tablespaces that i want to "bundle" into only one tablespace. Herre is the problem, that some of the tables in the two tbalespaces has the same title but some rows of the tables could be not the same.
Is it possible with a kind of migration assistent to migrate two tablespaces into one in that way, that theassistent only writes that rows into the new tablespace, that are not in the tablespace at the moment.
Another way i was thinking about is to have an insert statement coupled with a select statement. The select statement selects all the rows, that are not in the table where i want to migrate in and the insert statement put that selectet rows into the new table.
Is something of that possible?
I want to migrate only single 1 big table (with 5M rows and LOB. CLOB columns) from sqlserver to oracle.

I'm able to migrate the data. On an average the each source table contains 50k to 1 lakh records.
migrating reports 6i to reports 11g. I did some reading up and only found the the document Upgrading Oracle Forms 6i to Oracle Forms 11g 11g Release 1 (11.1.1) E10394-01 which talk about forms migration. I am looking for a reports migration and found no good documentation on it.
1) Can I migrate to 11g directly or should i migrate to 10g first.
2) Can I use the migation assitant for reports migration or is it only for the forms.
3) If i need to recompile the reports in 11g is there a a 11g developer suite that i should use for it.
I did the following to migrate.
1. After the installtion of Oracle 9.2 I created the service using oradim.
2. Should I need to copy my old datafiles to 9.2 before using the migrate option?
3. Should I need to startup the database before migrate?
We have and oracle 8i database that has an application that has part of it developed by PL/SQL and the other part on portal 309,is it possible to convert to MS/Sql Database,what tool can we use or what steps do we have to go through to achieve this.
