Forms :: Prevent User From Navigating To Another Webpage By Displaying Dialog Box

how to know when a user was navigating away from the current open form (and I wanted to prevent the navigation with a dialog box) because they had entered a new URL in the address bar and were trying to navigate to it? I've seen a reference to it from an ADF perspective -> [URL]
but was wondering how to do it within Forms?
The reason for this is that i would want to prompt the user to confirm that they wanted to exit the form as potentially they would have a record (in the form) flagged as being updated and as such no other user (including themselves) could susbequently access it. So, I'm basically wanting to know if there is a way to catch the fact that the user is about to navigate to another web page.
Is it by using javascript and if so, how would it be implemented?

When using this awesome plugin, I have a dynamic action on my calling page that deals with the selection from the dialog.
It uses
Select type:DOM Object
DOM Object: document
Condition: javascript expression
($v('P110_PROD_SEARCH') == 'BLAH')
where the js expression is making sure I run the correct dynamic action, particularly when I have a few buttons on the page invoking different variations of the modal dialog.
My first action is some javascript that interrogates the value of this.data.modalPageCloseValue this facilitates me make decisions in later actions on whether to run some pl/sql, for instance.
potential APEX bug (Display item with HTML affected by dynamic action and since we can't put conditions on actions - I was wondering if I could incorporate something into my dynamic action condition to stop the entire dynamic action from executing if modalPageCloseValue is null - but it seems to be out of scope?

i am developing aroom room booking system using forms developer and oracle 9i.
i have used images to show that the room are booked vacant vaccant if the room is booked then a red colored image is displayed else a green colored image is displayed. I have done it retrieving retreving the rows of the transaction table in a cursor. the cursor is written on a trigger (when button pressed).
now i want that if the green colored image is displayed then if the user clicks on that image it should move to the booking form else should display messaage messaage the room is already booked.

i am migrating from forms 6i to forms 10g but i am facing a problem. when i enter to my new form and i try to navigate thru the items with my mouse the validation of the item doesn't work properly. the cursor change position but the functionality works like it is still in the first item. the validation work when you use enter or tab.the same thing when you try to fetch the LOV, the LOV of the first item is populated not where the cursor is positioned.

I am trying to open the url from the form and block the form when working on the url.I am able to block the form when working on notepad, adobe and word doc by using the below code
CLIENT_HOST('CMD /C NOTEPAD '||fname);
CLIENT_HOST('cmd /c "c:/web_util[1].pdf"');
and when I use CLIENT_HOST( 'cmd /C "C:/Program Files/Internet Explorer/iexplore.exe" www.google.com'); it is opening the www.google.com but unable to block the form when working on google webpage.
I am using oralce forms 10.1.2.3 and the browser is IE8.

i have oracle from 10g installed. i have added webutil libraries.and its has been complied succesfully.now i have a one button on form. on that button triggerd i want open dialog box to select the file.like browse.
for that i have used below command.
webutil.Client_Get_File_Name('C:','file_name.xls','XLS Files (*.xls)|*.xls|',NULL,OPEN_FILE,TRUE);
but it showing me error i.e 'Client_Get_File_Name muse be declare'..

I notified some strange behaviour of my forms debugger. When I insert debug.attach piece of code into ma form and fired them on Windows machine after inserting into Oracle forms builder debugger dialog box server name (usualy ip) and given port from oracle forms window then everything works fine, breakpoint is catched. But when I changed my OS to RedHat then I am not able to come into all kind of trigger form code. Only program units could be debugged.

I am trying to use client_get_file_name to display the select file dialog box. My problem is that I can get the dialog box to open but it does not default to the folder that I specify in the client_get_file_name parameter (r_system_data.import_dir points to c:
eports).
v_filename := client_get_file_name(r_system_data.import_dir, null,
'CSV Files (*.csv)|*.csv|',
'Select a file to import travel details from');
The strange thing is when I use JInitiator 1.3.1.22 the diolog box defaults to the c: eports folder but when I use J2SE JRE 1.5.0_21-b01 it defaults to c: emp (which is where 'My Documents' points to, may be just a coincidence)
I am running Windows XP SP3 with IE8.

Form has insert and delete enabled.
I would like to prevent the deletion of a record based on some column value.
Something like:
IF (COLA value < 10) THEN
SHOW ALERT;
RECORD IS NOT DELETE
ELSE
DELETE RECORD AS NORMAL
END IF;
I want this to happen even before the record is marked for deletion, but I don't know where to put it. I tried a pre-delete trigger, but it does not work they way I want.

1-i have exported a database 9i with character set WE8MSWIN1252 which is her original character set;
2- i have created a new database 10G R2 with character set AL32UTF8;
3- i have imported the .dmp file to this new database with imp.exe 9i version configured with WE8MSWIN1252 character set;
-The problem is:
* when i use sqlplus, arabic data displays correctly but, in forms 10G, arabic data displays lick this ?E?? EC???IEC...... HOW CAN I CONFIGURE FORMS TO DISPLAY CORRECTLY ARABIC DATA?

I have problem in displaying icons in the push button during run time. Actually from few days i m trying to display icons at run time but with out any success.
i had made a simple push button and in its properties i had made the following changes
iconic=yes
icon filename=c:tempsave
the file save.GIF is saved under c:temp directory.
i had tried all the changes in registry.dat,orion file through the doc 203846.1 from metalink. Give me sample code step to step for showing a
push button with icon during run time. Also I tried the steps mentioned in the pdf document of
[URL].....
But it did not solve my problem. My icon file name is save.GIF , I wanted to know whether save.GIF file name convention is valid or not. Give the path from where I can get the icons used for web.

I have created a form in which I have 2 canvases - content canvas and a tabbed canvas.
I have only 4 fields on the content canvas and the remaining on the tabbed canvas. My requirement is such that the tabbed canvas should appear below the content canvas when I run the form, i.e. the fields on the content canvas will be visible, and below them will be the tabbed canvas.
For the content canvas, I have set the viewportX and viewport Y position as (0,0), and for the tabbed canvas, I have set the viewportX and viewportY position as (0,100). However when I run the form, I only see the tabbed canvas and the area at the top where I should see the contents from the content canvas appear blank.

I have 3 canvases ---> X ( Content), Y ( Stack) and Z ( Stack) which has 3 blocks BX, BY, BZ resp.
WHEN-NEW-BLOCK-INSTANCE trigger of BX :
execute_query;
show_view('Y') ;
Now X and Y both canvases are displayed.

Now only X is displayed. Canvas Y is vanished after a single blink. But I require both canvases as in initial stage.

I want to display a pdf file (or other types of documents like word or excel) that is already stored in a blob column in the database, in a form control and be able to view the records one by one just like an image.
Is this possible? if so, how? If not, can you direct me to additional code, technology, package or whatever solution that can achieve the desired results. sing Oracle forms 6i and database 10g.

S -- format mask display both sing + and -
MI -- format mask display negative sign at end
PR --Returns negative value in <angle brackets>. and Returns positive value with a leading and trailing blank.
I want the output should display only leading negative if the value is negative. I have used S99990.99 as format Mask. but need output should display only leading negative if the value is negative.
