Forms :: User Privileges On Application Level?
Nov 15, 2011Is there any way of allowing the some menu items to access by the users, not the whole menu. The problem is that in the system where I am working is that the users are on application level not on database level. If the users are on db level then by using roles and grants one can set privileges for each db user. Is there any way to block user from accessing some part of menu or from the forms itself?

Performance Tuning :: One Job Is Hanging After SGA Increase?

Step 1: Increased Physical Memory on one Node from 32 G to 48 G.
Step 1 Impact : DB was running same as before
Step 2 : Increased SGA from 12 G to 15 G.
Step2 Impact : DB was running same as before for 1 day next day one reporting job was hanging.
Step 3 : Increased DB_CACHE_SIZE from 5G to 7G.
Step 3 Impact : Over all CPU Utilization was high and no effect on reporting job.
Step 4 : Decreased DB_CACHE_SIZE from 7 G to 5 G.
Step 4 Impact : CPU Utilization came down little bit but no effect on reporting job.
Now our main concern is why CPU Utilization is going high. Because same thing we did last time and we got positive results.
Update Statement - Query Hanging Or Processing
Oct 6, 2010I am running one update statement which is running almost one hour still no response.
I would like to know either query is processing or hanging(suppose to finish the update within few minutes).
Is there any way or sql to find either the statement(my update query) is running or hanging.

The batch file contains

we are sending mails using blat.exe.
The procedure is working and the mail is reaching destination.But the database is hanging.
let me know what is the reason behind hanging.

As such haven't got 'row source generataion' The table has only 120000 records and it shall update 34000 records

During 'sequential read' using p1,p2 values tried to get what the session is reading and found that it is using the table itself.
During lath free I found following
SELECT name, 'Child '||child#, gets, misses, sleeps
FROM v$latch_children
WHERE addr= (select p1raw from v$session_wait where sid=18)
UNION
[code]...
However instead of self join when I creaed global temporary table as
create global temporary table t as select * from invoice_header where release='A5'
And used it in the update as
UPDATE invoice_header inv
SET inv.modified_due_date =
(SELECT t.btn_due_date
FROM t
WHERE inv.dct_code = t.dct_code AND t.release = 'A5')
WHERE inv.release = 'A5' AND inv.btn_due_date >= TRUNC (SYSDATE)
It updated the records in a second!!
Questions are
1) why it is producing 'sequential read' wait event when there is no index access or else why it is doing single block access when FTS is required?
2) Why is the 'latch free' wait event here and what it indicates here with 'cache buffer handles'?
Is it because we are reading and updating the same segment?
know in case DDL of table is required. It has all nullable columns and no index at all. Since it is 9i I am unable to use MERGE effectively in this case

- i have created a login form in one canvas.
- also tree node Hierarchy form created on another canvas. now we want to login through login screen, after login only those forms should show in tree Hierarchy which users have rights. for this purpose we want to pass the parameter of userid before connecting to tree node form through the following query

On the page I wish to secure I have specified that user should not be a public user.
When I click a link to the page I do get a login box, but I seem to be able to enter any old rubbish and still proceed to the page.
How do I secure an individual page without a general authentication scheme at application level, so an Apex user account is needed.

Oct 4, 2012I have a user requirement where they want to be able to select multiple values for a single parameter that will act as a filter for a report. The possible values for a parameter can come from almost any master data Oracle eBusiness table. I don't want to just present the user with a LOV where they search down a list selecting what they want. That wouldn't be very practical for selecting part numbers from 1000's of rows. I also want the user to easily see what values they have selected. I thought about providing a button that would navigate to a multi-row form where they could record their values and use those values in the where clause of the SQL for the report, but that is a somewhat complex solution I have never tried before. how to do this. I'm working in the latest version 4 of APEX.

Aug 27, 2010After setting up a data entry page,The logic in my page requires that all the records in my tabular form should be displayed .The tabular form is based on a collection, and the user selects rows through a checkbox.Any reload of the page due to pagination will break the logic, as some calculation and display events occur during page load, based on the previous page.
I need to display about 25 rows.I have changed the report attribute to display 50 rows, but it displays rows only up to the bottom of the screen, i.e. 11 rows.
Unfortunately I only just added some new rows and saw this behaviour else I would not have gone that way, as I expected APEX to display all rows if required.
Real Application Clusters :: One Node Or Clusterware Single Instance Failover?
Aug 21, 2012I am trying to design a database consolidation high-availability cluster for Oracle 11g R2 64-bit Enterprise Edition (X86-64) on Oracle Linux 6.x UEK, using Oracle 11.2.0.3 (the latest as of Aug 2012).
We don't need RAC Multi-Node now or in foreseeable future because none of the databases we run break the capacity of a single node. Likewise, we don't need to use Oracle VM to virtualise the database instances.
We plan to use SGA and PGA memory management to run multiple instances on same hardware operating on a single Linux 64-bit O/S image.Does it sound ok so far?
Two or three of 4-socket, 40-core Intel 64-bit servers with 512GB of RAM each (relatively cheap at today's HW commodity prices) will be sufficient to run all Oracle databases we have on Linux 64-bit.So the two HA options that I know of are:
(1) use Oracle Clusterware/Grid/ASM to provide for instance failover
(2) use Oracle RAC One Node on top of Clusterware/Grid/ASM
As I understand it RAC One Node is significantly more expensive than the "free" Oracle Clusterware/ASM/Grid (since we own Oracle 11.2.0.3 Enterprise Licences already). So why should my employer pay for RAC One Node licence given they already own Single Instance Fail-Over and Restart protection from Clusterware/Grid/ASM ?
I also read that Data Guard 11.2 may not be supported with RAC One Node on 11.2? True? Will same Data Guard 11.2 work with a Single-Instance Failover running on Clusterware/Grid/ASM ?

I've created a new workspace on my local APEX installation, created some users in the workspace, and divided them into roles as "Managers" and "Employees". I am the only Dev and Admin of the workspace, and the users (Managers and Employees) I have created are viewers.
I'd like to create database tables in the workspace where some field would refer to the user ID of the created user as a foreign key, and their role. Similarly, I'd like to create pages where a particular region is displayed only if the logged in user is a "Manager". How can I access the user data and the role data using SQL?
