I have a form with fields like, UserName, User ID Email Address. This is used to create new users & edit existing user information. I wanted to make the Email field mandatory. So i made the email field as 'Required' via Proerty Pallette. So when ever i create new users after this change, i get a message saying 'Field must be required' when i try to skip this email field.
However when i edit existing user information and try to save the data with no email address i am able to save. So, where when i try to save a user info with no email address, i should get a warning saying 'email address is required'. How to go about it and if i wil have to create any trigger.
I have this requirement, I have a following Record type within a package, instead of selecting datas into this i need to assign variables to this record type
TYPE xx_delivery_detail_rectype IS RECORD ( p_delivery_id NUMBER, p_ultimate_dropoff_location_id NUMBER, p_creation_date DATE, p_last_update_date DATE, p_container_name VARCHAR2 (30), p_inventory_item_id NUMBER, p_shipped_quantity NUMBER, p_shipment_line_id NUMBER ); TYPE xx_delivery_table_rectype IS TABLE OF xx_delivery_detail_rectype INDEX BY BINARY_INTEGER;
Say i have variables to assign to all the values within the record type, How do i do it within the package
Is there any way of allowing the some menu items to access by the users, not the whole menu. The problem is that in the system where I am working is that the users are on application level not on database level. If the users are on db level then by using roles and grants one can set privileges for each db user. Is there any way to block user from accessing some part of menu or from the forms itself?
CREATE OR REPLACE TRIGGER TRIGGER1 BEFORE INSERT ON table1 FOR EACH ROW

- we have user id parameter.can we update the parameter(:parameter.p_userid) before firing "WHEN NEW FORM INSTANCE TRIGGER"(when new form instance trigger contain code for tree node), for login another canvas as per user rights?
- i have created a login form in one canvas.
- also tree node Hierarchy form created on another canvas. now we want to login through login screen, after login only those forms should show in tree Hierarchy which users have rights. for this purpose we want to pass the parameter of userid before connecting to tree node form through the following query
SELECT COUNT (*) INTO v_count FROM usersinfo WHERE usersname = :USERBLOCK.usernames AND passwords = :USERBLOCK.passwords ;
[code]...
Every thing is working but when we click on button in login form at that time parameter.p_userid will return null. because above code is define on button click in login screen, i cannot understand where i need to define the above code .
I have two databases (say DATABASE 1 with user USER1 with table A and DATABASE2 with user USER1 with table A). I want to select the table A in USER1 DATABASE2 from DATABASE1 USER1.
I have created a user "user1" who has dba role.i wanted to create a another user "user2" with same privileges which user1 has. so i granted dba role to user2 but i dont want user2 to have "drop" privilege on any objects except his own objects.
i have created a new tablespace and assigned it to new user. What are the minimum no. of grants i should give, so that the user can made any kind of changes to all the objects within the tablespace and cant access other tablespace.
WHEN I CONNECT TO SCOTT OR ANY KIND OF USER (EXCLUDE SYS)I CONNECT EASILY BUT PROBLEM WITH SCOTT OR OTHER THEY CANNOT BE SHUTDOWN THE DATABASE AT THAT TIME THE ERROR ARISES ARE
ORA-01031: insufficient privileges SO OUR DATABASE CANT BE SHUT IT DOWN.
I have an automated process which runs on an Oracle 8i database server as user abc.This process creates views/tables in other schemas, on the same database server, which point to objects owned by the abc user.
The issue I'm getting is that when I try to execute GRANT SELECT ON xyz.view123 TO PUBLIC as the abc user, I get an insufficient privileges.I should add that the abc user created the xyz.view123 table/view.
What grants/priviliges or whatever do I have to do to the abc schema?
I am trying to create a new user who will be able to do a delete from all of the tables that only I MYSELF created. I created my user and granted access but realized I may not have done it right..
is it simply SQL>grant delete on <TABLESPACE> to <new user>; ? or do i need to specify the grant the delete on my tablespace to new user?
we have certain users have DBA role assigned. of course they can delete records from sys.aud$.
we are trying to make this go away. we found that in DBA role, there is a role called DELETE_CATALOG_ROLE controls this. if we revoke this role from DBA role, user no longer able to delete records from sys.aud$ but the problem is as a powerful user who has DBA role, they can always grant this back to DBA role, or grant delete from sys.aud$ table directly to themself.
can we create a second role which just like DBA role, but with less privileges?
My problem consists in setting dynamically a data block related to the item chosen by the user.So I ask if it is possible, in forms 10g, to base dynamically a data block with different tables having different columns.
There is a requirement in my database that I want to restrict the user from directly running queries on database from third party tools such as pl/sql developer and toad.
There is a utility in SQL product_user_profile through which this can be done but it is only restricted if you run the query through sql plus. If I want to restrict and (give suppose select,insert) to a user for directly running queries through PL/SQL.
