SQL & PL/SQL :: Designing A Query - Who To Loop Through Process

Jul 22, 2011

i have query which scores a customer details on some factors and gives it a rank/I have a table called agents which holds the agents details.

This is how i get the rank:
select *
from (
select customer_name ,agent_number

[code]....

The agents table has agent_number and agent_Name....By the above query i check various score against all available agents and assign customers to agents who have highest score or rank is 1

But my problem is who to loop through the process.. i mean after the intial customers are assinged with agents it should run again for remaining customers and for agents who are free(and rank for them is 1) should be checked for assignment Once all agents are assigned but still more customers are available then agents even thoug they are already assigned they can be assigned now since no agent is free..

Forms :: Designing DB Application - Button Trigger?

Mar 23, 2012

i'm designing a DB_application where a user makes certain subject selections depending on what grades they have. so far ive made simple signin form as follows....

Create table Persons(
person_id number(8) constraint pk_Persons primary key,
person_pword varchar2(16) not null;

declare
user_id number(8);
user_pword varchar(16);
alert_button number;
begin

[code]...

now the next step... that SIGNED IN user is taken to a menu with links to select their topics or units. HOWEVER only a PARTICULAR link can be followed depending on what grade they've achieved in a NECESSARY UNIT for example to do advanced maths u need beginners maths = PASS. if = fail then user cannot proceed. heres my sql as well as the trigger ive made an attempt at...

Create table Grades(
grade_code number constraint pk_Grades primary key,
grade varchar(4) check (result in ('fail','pass')),
person_id number,
unit_code number,
CONSTRAINT fk_Persons FOREIGN KEY (person_id) REFERENCES Persons (person_id),

[code]...

i know my second trigger is poorly designed and lacking.

Networking And Gateways :: Oracle 11gR2 Database - Performance Difference Between Windows PC And On VMware

Feb 9, 2012

We are having major differences in performance when accessing an Oracle 11gR2 database from two different environments.

I won't sadden you with the gory details of the full application but I will use an indicative example of our problem.

We have SQL Developer in both environments. In each of these SQL Developer instances is a defined a connection to the same database on another machine. So there is the PC looking at a database and a virtual instance looking at the same database.

Selecting the '+' sign next to 'tables' for that connection, on the PC the list of four tables comes back in 4 seconds but on the virtual instance the list of the same four tables comes back in 1 minute and 50 seconds.

This sort of timing issue is repeatable for all accesses to the Oracle database on the third machine.

Installation :: Oracle Database Express And Other Editions Installation Doc Difference?

Mar 20, 2013

My question is; I've been reading the Oracle database 11g R2 documentation at this link [URL]...

I passed a couple of days learning about all installation configuration parts including the desktop class and server class.As I was learning, So I had already downloaded Oracle Database Express 11g R2 for win32.

So as i had finished the installation guide I thought it's time to install the oracle now. I did it, and what I found was that there was not any option during installation that i read in above documentation. While trying to find about this difference i reached on documentation[URL]...

That is for express version only.

My question here is, Express edition, we use for learning purpose, But it doesn't look like it has all the stuff that we should learn during installation And what documentation I should follow from my above given two links?

SQL & PL/SQL :: ORA-00923 - Difference Between 9i And 10g

Aug 25, 2010

I encountered this problem when we recently migrated to 10g. The table nametab has two columns roll(number datatype) and name(varchar2(10) datatype).Following are the queries used and I have deliberately not given space between the "select" clause and the "from" clause.

In 9i
SELECT name,1FROM nametab where rownum < 2
NAME 1
---------- ----------
Bharath 1

Same query in 10g
SELECT name,1FROM nametab where rownum < 2
ORA-00923: FROM keyword not found where expected

Here, I have interchanged the select columns.

In 9i
SELECT 1,nameFROM nametab where rownum < 2
ORA-00923: FROM keyword not found where expected

In 10g
SELECT 1,nameFROM nametab where rownum < 2
ORA-00923: FROM keyword not found where expected

When I use this sql: CREATE USER testuser IDENTIFIED BY "welcome1 " to create user in Oracle DB 11.2.0.1.0. I can login with testuser/welcome1, please notice the welcome1 is not end of black space in login.

But when I do the same thing in Oracle DB 11.2.0.3.0. I can't use this user login with any password. I tried welcome1, "welcome1 " but all failed.

Why there are this difference between 11.2.0.1.0 and 11.2.0.3.0, and since in 11.2.0.3.0 the create sql are success, what password is correct when login?
