Date Manipulation In Oracle SQL
Apr 18, 2012why doesn't the following SQL doesn't return any rows. (column1 is a 'date' datatype)
select * from table1
where to_char(column1, 'dd-mon-yyyy') = to_char(sysdate + 3 , 'dd-mon-yyyy')
why doesn't the following SQL doesn't return any rows. (column1 is a 'date' datatype)
select * from table1

Ihave the following result set based on a hiearchy query
SELECT LEVEL ,
BM.ITEM item
BM.Part part
connect_by_isleaf leaf
FROM item_part_tab bm
START WITH bm.item_id='002PH'
CONNECT BY BM.ITEM_ID = prior BM.PART_id
LEVEL ITEM PART LEAF
-----------------------------------------------------------------
1 002IT XPART1 0
2 XPART1 SUBPART1 1
In the above resultset PART='SUBPART1' does'nt have any child as evident from the connect_by_isleaf (LEAF=1) .Is there any way to create a pseudo record if such values are returned by the query, i.e., if a part has no tree under it a dummy record should be created i.e. in this case an additional record should be returned by this query. i.e., as below. the LEVEL=3 record should be created.
LEVEL ITEM PART LEAF
---------------------------------------------------------
1 002IT XPART1 0
2 XPART1SUBPART1 1
3 SUBPART1 1
We are upgrading from forms 6i -> 11gr2 I just noticed that our 6i image Show pallete property does not exists anymore in 11G...why the hell did they remove it!!!! it is a must for our users, since they need to zoom in and out to confirm acuracy at all levels.
Is there anything built in forms 11G that can zoom in/out of images. not finding anything. and once zoomed, do the horyzontal/vertical scrolling bars appear?

I want to delete the Repetitive data,What's wrong with these SQL statements?
i have one table ot_ins_item where user will enter the details of item, grade,item qty , later on user will go and update the same table the details of different grades received for the same item in different columns with qty breakup in 3 different fields it_qty_01 , it_qty_02,it_qty_03 respectively with different grades , what i need is i want is whenever he updates this table with different grades based on data entered in 3 different fields , a procedure or trigger should delete the initial record saved and insert three different rows based on newly updated values , it may be 3 or it may be 2 sometime depending upon input values that many records should be inserted same time controlling the qty's entered in breakup not exceeding the main qty.
CREATE TABLE ot_ins_item (it_ins_no NUMBER,it_no NUMBER,it_grade VARCHAR2(12),
it_code VARCHAR2(12),it_qty NUMBER,it_flex_01 VARCHAR2(12),
it_01_qty NUMBER,it_flex_02 VARCHAR2(12),it_02_qty NUMBER,it_flex_03 VARCHAR2(12),
it_03_qty NUMBER);
create sequence s_it_no start with 1 ;
INSERT INTO OT_INS_ITEM VALUES (1,s_it_no.NEXTVAL,'A','ITEM1',NULL,NULL,NULL,NULL,NULL,NULL);

I'm trying to work out how to take a table like this:
IDDate
12502-Feb-07
12516-Mar-07
12523-May-07
12524-May-07
12525-May-07
33302-Jan-09
33303-Jan-09
33304-Jan-09
33317-Mar-09
And display the data like this:
IDPeriodPeriod StartPeriod End
125102-Feb-0702-Feb-07
125216-Mar-0716-Mar-07
125323-May-0725-May-07
333102-Jan-0904-Jan-09
333217-Mar-0917-Mar-09
As you can see, it's split the entries into date ranges. If there is a 'lone' date, the 'period start' and the 'period end' are the same date.
I have a two date fields in my form; valid from date and expiry date.
Currently my valid from date has an inital value property of $$date$$ which automaitcally brings up todays date.
I need my expiry date to automatically show a date 15 years after this date?
In my application I show the Date in Hijri using the NLS setting. but the issue that "i face a deference between the real hijri date with oracle hijri date"
Assume that the real hijri date on 18-SEP-2012 was 02/11/1433 in hijri but in oracle was 03/11/1433
when I execute the following query it shows me "1433/11/03", but the actual Hijri date is "1433/11/02"
select to_char(to_date('20120918','YYYYMMDD'),'YYYY/MM/DD', 'NLS_calendar='''||'ARABIC hijrah') FROM DUAL;
I have the age of a property stored in my DB. (Lets say 3 yrs old). I would like to extract from that information, the year the property was built. I know I can minus the sysdate by days (-1) and months (add_months), but how can I do it using the YEAR information I have stored?
So if I was doing it against sysdate, I would want the result to be 10/24/2003.
I tried to insert date in date column from another table date column. Below is SP ans execute procedure.
CREATE OR REPLACE PROCEDURE test(
start_time Varchar
)
AS
BEGIN
DBMS_OUTPUT.ENABLE(1000000);
DBMS_OUTPUT.PUT_LINE(start_time);
Insert into test_ora (report_date) (select start_time from
[code]....
execute test ('27-10-2011 12:01:01');
It gives error as Invalid number.
I have a table with date column (16/06/1996 15:03:59) as value in the displayed format. As I have tried with the below query format I could not able to retrieve the
records. select * from <table> where DATE_INSERT=SYSDATE;
Retrieve the rows for the tables ?
I need to convert below functionality in Oracle. At present it is working with SQL server
current_end_time TIMESTAMP,
current_start_time TIMESTAMP
current_duration int
current_end_time := DATEADD(second, current_duration/10, current_start_time)
I am having a strange issue with date conversion. The errors encountered are :
PLS-00382: expression is of wrong type
PLS-00306: wrong number or types of arguments in call to '>'
The situation or test case is as follows:
create table sand_programs(prog_code varchar2(20), prog_end_dt date);
create table sand_program1(prog_code varchar2(20), filing_date number(15));
Result : Both the tables are created.
Now I create a procedure below as mentioned, to check if the filing_date is greater than the prog_end_dt or not.If the filing_date is greater than prog_ end_dt, then it should go to the 1st "dbms_output.put_line" message else it should go to the 2nd "dbms_output.put_line" message.
Here's my procedure:
create or replace procedure test_sand(p_program_cd in number) is
v_prog_end_dt date;
v_filing_date number;
begin
[code]....
I have a UNIX shell script as following,
#runs the selected process
${ORACLE_HOME}/bin/sqlplus -s ${USER_PASS} >${TMP_FILE} <<EOF
set pause off
set verify off
set pagesize 0
set linesize 2000
set timing off

I am passing a Date to the Oracle Procedure in `date +'%b_%d-%H:%M:%S'` format.
rmsqa813.2 /home/ashlaksh> echo `date +'%b_%d-%H:%M:%S'`
Jun_14-02:26:37
The oracle Procedure's SQL is as following,
SELECT ffdh.fiscal_doc_id INVOICE_ID,
ffdh.location_id LOCATION_ID
FROM fm_fiscal_doc_header ffdh,
fm_schedule fs
[code]........
The above SQL is not getting the data as the Date format "AND ffdh.last_update_datetime <=i_last_update_datetime " is not matching..
Do I need to convert the Date ? ( But i_last_update_datetime is DATE)
the data in the column is in below format
---------------------
2/10/2009 9:28:41 PM
mm/dd/yyyy
my requirement is
--------------------
20090210
YYYYMMDD
One of the java developers put a java long date in an oracle table. How can I report it in the usual dd-mon-yyyy format?
field in the table:
ISSUE_DATE NUMBER Yes 4
some sample data:
1211567760081
1211576585400
If running the following query:
select s.effective_date
from SECURITYDBO.DERIVATIVES s
where s.security_alias=100014320 and s.src_intfc_inst=0;
There are no rows returned.However, if I am running the other query:
select MAX(s.effective_date)
from SECURITYDBO.DERIVATIVES s
where s.security_alias=100014320 and s.src_intfc_inst=0;
There is a BLANK row returned.
I would like to know how to convert the following:
13-AUG-12 03.30.06.146 PM
to the format:
"MM/DD/YYYY HH:MI:SS AM"...
I believe there is a time zone issue here as well, since the should actually be around 11:30am. I am not sure what time zone is being used.
We have one issue in my implementaion i am a ORACLE DBA support multiple database across different countries,We hosted one database in Location eg:Dennmark my problem is our client connect to database(Located in Dennmark) through VPN in different country eg Dubai,India,Finland.We need to setup a client PC to print database reports,forms based on LOCAL NLS-date and timing, should print local time,date not database server date. set date format, and timezone based on client environment instead database timezone where it located at Denmark.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI see month aging buckets in the Oracle Application I am using (Keystone time and billing). I need to do a query in directly in Oracle (Toad front end to Keystone database) using month aging buckets . I use the following in Access that matches the results in Oracle, but I need to work directly in Toad because I want to avoid having to bring over all the dates when I want to summarize by buckets.:
2-4 Months: Sum(IIf(DateDiff("m",[invoice date],forms!Reporting_Standard!txtlastdayofmonth) In (2,3),[Outstanding Gross],0))
I know about getting the difference between two dates and that works fine for day aging buckets, but I need months, which can deal with months that are different sizes.
oracle stored procedure which sorts date, meaning the recent records needs to be shown first.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI am migrating SQL Server database to Oracle. But the tool I am using can not covert the date type columns, hence I am stuck with tables which have peculiar date types.
For example: The column "DATECAPTURED" in table "SIGNATURE" in SQL Server database has values:
2013-02-15 10:03:48.387
2013-02-15 10:01:05.930
2013-02-15 09:59:07.197
2013-02-15 09:50:15.797
2013-02-15 09:39:15.557
2013-02-15 09:37:12.643
Why can not oracle be able to accept this kind of date format? :( I thought it's more intelligent than SQL server :)
My workaround is to change all date types to varchar2(30).
What happens when I enter date with missing parts ? for example if there is a field of type Date and I inserted the value To_Date ('12/3/2005', 'dd/mm /yyyy') what will the values of the missing date parts be ? hh and mi and ss .so how does Oracle completes the missing parts of the date.

View 17 Replies View RelatedIs there any way to display the current date with post fix notation in oracle?
Ex : 2nd ,5th , 3rd , 1st , 8th ,
select to_char(sysdate,'DD') from dual;
I have been developing and oracle application therefore i have installed the oracle express edition 10g database software and the oracle developer 10g. I did some changes in sql*plus i mean i have changed the language(through 'nls_lang' to Arabic), i made a autonumber trigger, i changed the calender format (through 'alter_session...'), now all the changes are working fine from the oracle sql*plus but as i am running my form from form builder none of those changes are working.
i thought the oracle form and sql*plus don't have such link..i can add the tables i have created in sql*plus into the form.
Version : 4.1.1, I have a tabular form on a DB table. One of the columns is a date field. When the user hits the "add Row" button on the tabular form, I want the Date field to be defaulted to sysdate. Here is what I have tried so far,
1. Created a "hidden" item P1_SYSDATE and populated the default value with sysdate. After this, under the DB tabular report date field, I used default type - Item/application on this page and entered P1_sYSDATE
2. Instead of populating the default value of the P1_SYSDATE hidden item, I created a before regions process and added
:P1_SYSDATE := sysdate
and added P1_SYSDATE to default type of the tabular date field with default type as "ITem/application on this page.
I get the error
ORA-01790: expression must have same datatype as corresponding expression
I tried to_Char(sysdate,'dd-mon-yyyy') and then converting it back to to_date. still no luck.
When I run a query form the the Query Window in Visuial Studios 2012 all the date fields truncated to 'mm/dd/yyyy', but i need the full date returned. I am able to get full date from TO_char(MyDateField, 'yyyy-mm-dd hh24:mi:ss'), but if I do TO_DATE(MyDateField, 'yyyy-mm-dd hh24:mi:ss') it only returns 'mm/dd/yyyy'. I'm sure this is a simple setting in Visual studios but I cant find it to save my life. Is there there a way to have the full date returned by default?
View 0 Replies View RelatedIn a data block(it lists all the records created), I tried to search for the records which are created on a particular date. So I entered the date in query mode in that data block. But it is not returning any rows. But if I searched through other fields in that data block except that date data type it is returning the appropriate records.
