Forms :: Configurations (date Format) Not Working In Oracle

Sep 20, 2011

I have been developing and oracle application therefore i have installed the oracle express edition 10g database software and the oracle developer 10g. I did some changes in sql*plus i mean i have changed the language(through 'nls_lang' to Arabic), i made a autonumber trigger, i changed the calender format (through 'alter_session...'), now all the changes are working fine from the oracle sql*plus but as i am running my form from form builder none of those changes are working.

i thought the oracle form and sql*plus don't have such link..i can add the tables i have created in sql*plus into the form.

Client Tools :: Date Format And Calendar Type Are Not Changing In Oracle Form?

Oct 30, 2011

i have changed date's format and the calendar type in sqlplus through the following command so the date's format and the calender type both changed successfully and work, but in oracle form the they haven't changed.

alter session set nls_calendar='persian';

ALTER SESSION SET NLS_DATE_FORMAT='YYYY/MM/DD';

ALTER SYSTEM SET NLS_DATE_FORMAT='YYYY/MM/DD' SCOPE=SPFILE;

Note: i know session would change the format temporally but i want to change it permanently so i tried alter_system but still no result

Visual Studio :: Set Query Window Default Date Format To Full Date?

Oct 24, 2013

When I run a query form the the Query Window in Visuial Studios 2012 all the date fields truncated to 'mm/dd/yyyy', but i need the full date returned. I am able to get full date from  TO_char(MyDateField, 'yyyy-mm-dd hh24:mi:ss'), but if I do TO_DATE(MyDateField, 'yyyy-mm-dd hh24:mi:ss')  it only returns  'mm/dd/yyyy'. I'm sure this is a simple setting in Visual studios but I cant find it to save my life. Is there there a way to have the full date returned by default?

ORA-14767: Cannot specify this interval with existing high boundsby giving an example other than given in the above mentioned document.

the example given in the document is as follows:

To increase the interval for date ranges, then you need to ensure that you are at a relevant boundary for the new interval. For example, if the highest interval partition boundary in your daily interval partitioned table transactions is January 30, 2007 and you want to change to a monthly partition interval, then the following statement results in an error:

Server Administration :: Impact Of Up-to-date Statistics On Main Schema Objects

Feb 29, 2012

I am looking at a performance issue at the moment and trying to replicate on a test system. I am initially looking at the impact of upto-date statistics on the main schema's objects.

For this I wanted to:

first run the batch with whatever stats were present in the database Flashback the db to before the batch . Gather stats Re-run the batch with updated stats and compare results.

However, I inadvertently ran the stats job before running the load the first time! I have the SCN from when the environment was set up like production (ie before the stats were run) so am I correct in saying that if I flashback to this point then the stats will be "old" and I can just run the batch then? I know I can verify this when I Flashback the database by looking at LAST_ANALYZED on tables etc but it would be good to know this before hand as it's a 12 hour batch.

How To Change Date Format

Nov 22, 2012

I have a simple question, hope it has a simple answer. I changed the default date format for a SCHEMA using a TRIGGER and AFTER LOGON, so it set the NLS_DATE_FORMAT='YYYY-MM-DD HH24:MI:SS'. It does work fine, however, the problem is when I connect using a client with JDBC driver. When using SQL PLUS I get the date in the format specified above YYYY-MM-DD HH24:MI:SS, however, when using a client (Aqua Data 6.5.8 I know it is kinda old) and SQuirrel SQL 3.4.0 I always get the date in the YYYY-MM-DD format. I started to think that the issue is with the JDBC because it works fine when I connect with SQLPLUS.

Forms :: Date Format

Aug 9, 2012

qry:= 'to_date(debtodt, 'dd-mon-yy')< sysdate';
or
qry:= 'debtodt < to_char(sysdate, 'dd-mm-yyyy');
or
qry:= 'to_date(debtodt, 'dd-mon-yy')< to_date(sysdate, 'dd-mm-yy')'

all these are showing error in oracle form.

in database debtodt is in char format , calculating from-- TO_CHAR(add_months(b.FRMDT,b.period)-1,'dd-mm-yyyy')

and also in oracle form it is char,thats why i am changing it either debtodt into date format or sysdate into char format. but it is showing error as: encountered the symbol "DD" when expecting one of these.................

the same query

select * from debar_reg_vu where to_date(debtodt, 'dd-mm-yyyy')<sysdate;

running correctly in database server.
