Oracle To MSSQL INSERT TRIGGER?
Oct 30, 2006I must create an INSERT trigger, on an Oracle table, which will do an insert into my MS-SQL 2000 DB table.
The tables are exactly the same in this case and I desire to insert the entire row that was just insterted into the Oracle table into the MS-SQL table.
I understand how to create an ODBC connection between the DB servers, I just can't seem to understand the trigger syntax.
Compare Records In A Table In Both Oracle - MSSQL?
Jan 13, 2009I am trying to compare records in a table in both Oracle and MSSQL database against a single standard dataset in my test case. However, I'm getting different results for each when I sort using a "order by".
select COL1 from TABLE1 order by COL1
In MSSQL, I get:
COL1
=====
A
A.
A++
A++.
In ORACLE, I get:
COL1
=====
A
A++
A++.
A.
I mean, oracle result some what makes sense, because "." has bigger ascii value than "+". But is there anyway to make the ORACLE sort order look exactly like MSSQL result?

I was try migrate one sample database from mssql "Pubs" using Oracle SQL Developer Tool.
After migraton i've got prefixes in tables like MD_<table_name> but i can not see tables from Pubs only a lot of tables like :
MD_COLUMNS
MD_GROUPS
etc...

Migrate MySQL 5.0 Objects To Oracle 11g
Jan 23, 2013I`m migrating a mysql 5.0 database to Oracle 11g. I used Oracle's Sql developer and with a workaround i could convert tables, constraints, indexes, some triggers and created sequences.
My question is, what happen with stored procedures and functions, they didn't pass. I've been searching and i found here hey have to be rewritten. Is there any way to convert those objects ? I can't afford to do it manually because the mysql database has almost 400 of them and they aren't small.

Jun 2, 2011i tried for 3 days to setup a connection between my oracle database 11.2 (resides on 2003,64 bit Microsoft windows) and a mysql database (resides on 2003,32 bit Microsoft widows).
i used dg4odbc 64 bit which was installed on oracle server, my steps was as follows :
1- configure ODBC driver (MYSQL 3.51 odbc) on oracle server that connect to mysql database and the connection was tested successfully (the name of odbc dsn is DG4ODBC).
2- configure the listener.ora file (which resides on dg4odbc installation path) that contains the following :

(DESCRIPTION =
(ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = xxxxxxxxxxxx)(PORT = 1511))

3- configure the tnsnames.ora file (which resides on oracle database path) that contains the follwoing :

Aug 7, 2012I've read a lot about the different types of backup available with Oracle (hot and cold backup). However, I was thinking of a different way of performing this task. I'm currently using Windows Server 2008 R2 and Oracle 11g Standard Edition. I'd like to schedule an entire backup of my server via the utility "Windows Server Backup" (available for free).That way, I could recover my entire server with all the programs and files in case the latter crashes.I'm wondering if this solution could be used as a way of backing up (and recovering) the Oracle database. Should I still set up a regular hot backup with the Archivelog mode enabled in case some operations/transactions were being done at the time of the crash (for the data integrity)?

Nov 11, 2011I set 'maxopenfiles 4' when allocating channel to sbt in my products env, I got 2 backup pieces in one backup set because that tablespace has 7 datafiles. Other configuration is kept as default, such as no maxsize, no MAXPIECESIZE, and etc setting.
I read document from Oracle. It says:"By default a backup set contains one backup piece. To restrict the size of each backup piece, specify the MAXPIECESIZE option of the CONFIGURE CHANNEL or ALLOCATE CHANNEL commands. " And also, maxopenfiles configure does not force another backup piece generated. So, why do I get another backup piece?
BTW, I tried this on another testing environment. I only get one backup piece even there are more than 2 times maxopnefiles datafiles.

In the above example, I have to figure out the operator logic before sending the credentials to MySQL e.g.
MATCH (location_rule) AGAINST ('+usa +"united states of america" +michigan' IN BOOLEAN MODE) AS score
I don't want or have the capability of figuring out the operators before hand with the user input
