XML DB :: Optional Validation Of Some Complex Type Elements

There is XMLType table with structural storage. Is there a way to make schema validation disabled on some elements of complex type?

It is unpractical to maintain a schema for the element due to high volatility. Ideally it will be stored in CLOB and extracted as is a whole branch without validation, none of the elements under this complex type will be extracted separately.

I have a collection of objects built in a PL/SQL program.

I want to keep only the distinct elements of this collection for the rest of the program.

I failed to find the correct way to do it

For instance (the actual object is far more complex containing object attributes itself), with the following types:

I have the following variable:

v t1b := t1b(t1a(1,2),t1a(1,2));

And I want to get only one "t1a(1,2)" in my collection.

My first idea (actually the second one but it does not matter) was to use DISTINCT:

As I said the object is far more complex and builting a MAP function is quite tedious (but I will do it if there is no other way).

The next idea was to use multiset operators:

5 dbms_output.put_line(v.count);

PL/SQL procedure successfully completed.

This works well but I suspect this is not the correct way and there is one to do it in PL/SQL but currently failed to find it.

I have a one column table that store lists of elements :

create table test_table (c1 VARCHAR2(4000));
insert into test_table values ('1,23');
insert into test_table values ('1,2');
insert into test_table values ('3,4,5');

The output column would be something like that:

output_column
1,2,7,23
6,9,0
3,4,5

I'm grouping columns that have at least one element in common.

(1,23) and (1,2) merge into : (1,2,23)
(1,2,23) and (7,2) merge into : (1,2,7,23) --> Output
(6,9) and (9,0) merge into : (6,9,0) --> Output
(3,4,5) and (5,5) merge into : (3,5,5) --> Output

I have made this logic using only PL/SQL, with loops and nested tables using function memberof, but I suppose that there is a way to improve the performance using only SQL.

I am trying to pass an Optional 'ALL' Parameter to Oracle in the SQL statement below...

USER.STATUS can be either 0 or 1 in the Source-Data (Inactive or Active). However, the :P_STATUS Parameter can be either 0, 1 or 2 (ALL).

I tried an IF/THEN/ELSE statement in the SQL below - but it doesn't work as is.

Gives and "ORA-00920: invalid relational operator" error...

I have created a simple function in database that take 2 arguments, the last one is optional.

Now i call the function in Forms 6i PL/SQL Trigger and omitt the default (optional) parameter the form builder crashes when i compile the form (CTRL + SHIFT + K)

i have tried to used both words "DEFAULT" and ":=" in the function's signature for making an optional argument.

As there is no boolean datatype in oracle (I wonder why, it exists in ms-sql, and I'm still quite new to oracle) you have several ways to 'simulate' a boolean. (1/0, 'Y'/'N', in german 'J'/'N', or this in small caps...)

Now for a checkbox you have to include the 'true'-value in the LOV. But what, if your database doesn't use '1', as you have implemented, but 'Y', or what, if the 'false'-value is not '0' but null? Each time you would have to adopt your STATIC2:...

So I am wondering about a flexible solution, and I would like to ask if and how it is possible. (Havn't found anything via searching for that yet.)

Instead of writing:

STATIC2: ;Y ... and having only the 'Y/N' implementation working, how about it would look something like that:
STATIC2: ;NOT('0' OR 'N' OR  'n' OR null) ... and a lot of reasonable boolean-implementations are incorporated. You could use a standard LOV for all checkboxes, dealing with different 'booleans'

But just like that, its not working...

So, a) it there a syntax for that at this point? and b) what do you think about that in general, or whats your 'best practice'?

I have a procedure that has a number of "optional" parameters.

This procedure can be called with any combination of the input parameters.I can set up program(s) using the DBMS_SCHEDULER.CREATE_PROGRAM procedure using a program_type => 'PLSQL_BLOCK' like this:

It appears that ALL of the program input parameters must be defined and there is no way to indicate that a parameters is "optional".

I have a table "TSKIDENT" with below structure:

For each TSKID/IDCODE combination there are 4 FIELDNBRS with some values. For each set of 4, there is one NBRSEQ which can change depending on the order in which the a set of same TSKID/IDCODE is entered in the table. For 1st set of 4 for a given taskid, it will be 1. For second set for same Taskid it will be 2 and so on. But if the second set has a different taskid then the number starts from 1 for the new TASKID.

Now I want to Find all the tasks which has same FIELDVALUE for a complete SET of 4. Lets say I want to find a task which meets following criteria:

IDCODE = 97
FLDNBR = 1
FIELDVALUE = 1
IDCODE = 97
FLDNBR = 2
[code]....

I want to know if the query can be restructured to a less complex than this and fetch the same results. In our example it should fetch taskid = T222222222.

REF Partitioning Is Affecting On Complex Queries

I am having 7 tables consider A,B,C,D,E,F,G. whereas A is master table and others are dependent on table A. columnA is referential key for all tables. Table A is having one DateRange column.I have successfully created range partitioning with partitioning key is DateRange. and Refeernce partitioning on other tables with column referring to ColumnA with foreign key. Also created local indexes on partitioned key DateRange.

Problem is that, while fetching complex queries for reports, it is taking more time as compared to non partitioning structure. Is ref partitioning affecting on complex queries, queries returning more rows?

I get missing expression error.

It works fine if I use a straight s.nextval

*Action:   Reissue the command with the REFRESH FORCE or REFRESH COMPLETE option or create a simple materialized view.

Complex Case Expression - Combine Two Statements To Get Desired Bucket

I have a case expression as follows:

Now what I need to be able to do is place those results in buckets, similar to this:

I understand that I can't call an alias from a previous case expresson to get these desired results and how I could combine the two statements to get the desired bucket.

The data in one of the temporary table has been compiled as below. Number of Days elapsed between two transaction dates is required to be computed and multiplied with the balance. There can be multiple number of same transaction dates. When previous date and the current transaction dates are same the resulting number of day difference should be 0. But when they are different the difference between them is to be computed. On the last day of the Financial Year i.e. '31/03' of any year the difference day should be shown as 1 so as to make 365 or 366 days in a year. Simply deducting d1 from d2 on 31st will not be suffice as the difference is one day less.

1)I have created a complex view, and created an instead of trigger on this view

example:

create or replace trigger tr_x instead of before update on test_view_name for each row

2) I have created an update policy on this view

DBMS_RLS.ADD_POLICY (
object_schema := schema_name,
object_name := name of the view,
policy_name := ploicy name,
function_schema := func schema name,
policy_function := pkg_test.fn_get_where,
statement_types := 'UPDATE',
update_check := TRUE,
policy_type := dbms_rls.dynamic);

3) function pkg_test.fn_get_where, which is used in the policy function always return 1 = 2, so that update should fail.

4) Now I will issue an update statement on the view test_view_name

update test_view_name set test_col = 1;

but still it updates the records, though update policy returns the where cluse 1 = 2

same where clause for select policy works perfectly fine.

I'm trying to create materialized view, successfully create logs for all the tables involved.

The result is ora-12015: cannot create a fast refresh materialized view from a complex query

It does work fine if I remove

I am creating the Dynamic list but when i am compiling the form it gives the compilation error "No list elements defined for the list item".

I can eliminate it by entering the dummy list element but this dummy value will be displayed at form run time.
