I read the Website URL....and searching now for an alternative way for a small Oracle DB around 120 - 250 GB Data.I cant find any DRAM SSD that seems to suite the needs of such a small amount of data to a valuable price.
The only Hdd i found is URL... but im not sure if thats the right thing and if its possible to still buy such a device.where do we get such a device in Europe(swiss) and what would be the price for such a device?
Do i need to make a special setup within oracle (11g R2) to get the maximum out of such a DRAM SSD?
mentioned database is created with Character set = UTF8 and the National Character Set = AL16UTF16 and got the result for other languages (latin,german,french etc) but still Chinese language was not supported.

How to get my profile in oracle support ? i need to know to many license what we have in oracle how to get this ,ex: oracle rac 11g , application server 10g ...etc.
oracle 10G who knows why Oracle SQL doesn't support %TYPE when create a table. But it supports it when we use it in PL/SQL.

I have downloaded oracle 10g express edition. I have tried to connect forms 6i in that in windows xp environment but when i tried to connect it is not connecting and giving "don't send" error.
If there is any patch to connect forms 6i into oracle 10g express edition.
i have created a listener for my db and register the service to it some 2 years back now i have checked it and it display as follows

now i have stop and then restart but same status? so how can i manually register it again or anyother solution as i cant run netmgr
DB: 11.2.0.3 & OS: RHEL5 Easy Connect Naming method enhances the host naming method by allowing for a port and service specification. My question is does Oracle 11g support Host naming method?
We cache oracle 11g2 data in timesten 11.2.2.5.0 ( IMDB ) We can't find any trigonometric functions like cos(x), sin(x) or so in timesten. Does that means timesten doesn't support trigonometric functions?
We have an APEX application that leverage's APEX and UCM API to create a RSS feed that is displayed on the Content Portal.URL>....
The feed XML is converted to a JSON object and displayed on the home page using jquery.Up until last week this feed was displaying fine but now its broken and can no longer be seen on the home page.Our logs indicate that the feed content is being pulled as before without errors. URL....
A test page created to investigate the issue shows the following error -Resource interpreted as Script but transferred with MIME type application/rss+xml: URL>....
URL to the test page is :URL..... Could this possibly have to do with the recent upgrade on the APEX server as this worked perfectly earlier?Could the JSON support for RSS feed might have been affected?
i installed database 10g with English language support and imported a dump file contains tables having columns in arabic
so after search i did these steps
SHUT; CONN SYS/SYS AS SYSDBA STARTUP RESTRICT;
Alter database character set INTERNAL_USE AR8ISO8859P6; (for arabic) which we want.
SHUT; STARTUP
after the previous steps i checked on the nls_characterset from NLS_DATABASE_PARAMETERS and found it changed to AR8ISO8859P6 and that's right after that i can insert any arabic character to the tables but the original data still the same
is there anyway i can do to change the original data to be read in Arabic or i should make another import
I have a 10g database and on a specific day of everymonth, a query appears to cause a performance issue. As i have analyzed, there are two small tables of 11MB in size and the query goes for higher number of executions/gets/reads/elapsed time etc. So as the tables are very small in size, i am planning to pin both of these tables in SGA buffer pool keep memory. I need few clarifications...
*These tables are Dynamic in nature and the row data tends to change everyday. If i pin these objects in Keep buffer pool, will this dynamic changes to the table made also be reflected in the pinned buffer pool?
*Will this have any adverse effect?
*My SGA_TARGET is set equal to SGA_MAX_SIZE which is 1532MB. Do i need to change any memory setting before pinning these objects?
*On every restart of the database, do i need to again execute the pin commands for these objects.
I did some google searches about large number of extents and ASSM. I see bits and pieces on the web. This is something I need to look at while testing an application. Not looking to go into 'why' I would use smaller extents, I just want to make sure I have what I need to look for during testing..Issues with massive numbers of extents:
1. DBA_EXTENTS query is really slow. 2. issues truncating tables (due to having to read lots of extents) 3. issues splitting maxvalue partitions and with dropping partitions. 4. if I stay away from ASSM, would this reduce these issues? Are there any other performance issues or other issues I need to know about to check when I do tests?
Any issues with query or insert wait time? The tables that would get smaller events would have thousands of partitions/sub-partitions . Most of these sub-partitions will be rather smaller.I just want to test for a variety of different cases. The 'why' will come out during testing.
We have an existing db (10.2.0.4.0) and forms (11.1.2.1.0) application, that we're trying to extend to support Chinese characters. We're looking to add some unicode (nvarchar2) columns to existing tables, rather than converting the whole db charset. I've pasted my environment settings below. What I've found so far in trying to create a local (ie. running the form in Builder with local weblogic running) test form, is that I can insert the chars ok (using plsql developer) and the test form can display them correctly, but cannot write them back to the database. They appear as upside down question marks in any records the form has created.
So, how to get the form to write the characters back into the database correctly? 2) The chinese chars will only be relevant to a few forms inside the app, are there any settings local to the form that will enable unicode support, rather than setting at OS level. ie, an alter session, or equivalent? 3) Oracle Reprts doesn't appear to have an nchar datatype unlike Forms, is there anyway to get Reports (generating PDFs), to include Chinese?
I now have the chars writing back to the db ok. If you do it via an INSERT statement from inside the form, it doesn't work. It appears the value is sent to the db in the normal charset rather than the national charset, and it's written as a question mark. If you pass the value from the form into a back end stored proc though (which does the insert) it works okay.
I'm trying to create a table with a select statement. I want to populate this new table with the aggregated value from a VIEW. Following is the code used for creating the VIEW,
create or replace view FINAL_WEB_LOG as select SESSION_ID, SESSION_DT, C_IP, CS_USER_AGENT, tab_to_string(CAST(COLLECT(web_link) AS t_varchar2_tab)) WEBLINKS from web_views_tab group by C_IP, CS_USER_AGENT, SESSION_DT;
I want to create a table with WEBLINKS and SESSION_ID which is a sequence from another table.
CREATE TABLE FINAL_WEB AS SELECT weblinks FROM final_web_log UNION SELECT session_id FROM WEB_VIEWS_TAB;
This now gives me the following error,
SQL Error: ORA-06502: PL/SQL: numeric or value error: character string buffer too small
This has to do with the field, Weblinks, it does have longer values.
How can i increase the sga_target in this case.Im unable to create a pfile.
SQL> startup ORA-01078: failure in processing system parameters ORA-00821: Specified value of sga_target 2048M is too small, needs to be at least 4112M SQL> startup nomount

The $ORACLE_HOME/dbs location has a spfile.

I need to divide this sting after every 100 characters, as the length of column to insert is 100. And i do not want to modify the column as it has great impact. I need to divide the string, such that it should be less then 100 characters also the string is not cut in between.
like: first string: "This is just for testing 123. This is just for testing 45654. This is just for testing 5567876."
then 2nd string: "This is just for testing 53456547. This is just for testing 123423. This is just for testing 98090."
then 3rd string: "This is just for testing 099473. This is just for testing. This is just for testing. This is just for testing 3."

The query works with all the CTEs up to the last select statement. Oracle does not support the OUTER APPLY statement, how should the last piece be written to make it work in Oracle?
