View 3 Replies View Relatedi got a table and it had 5000 rows of data...ive deleted around 2000 to decrease the db size but i have no success. My harddrive is still showing the same size with no increase in mb.
I've looked at shrink etc methods but some are not compatible with 8i.
I take it the db is still reserving that those deleted rows thinking it may be used again which is the reason for no increase in space.
I have downloaded oracle 10g express edition. I have tried to connect forms 6i in that in windows xp environment but when i tried to connect it is not connecting and giving "don't send" error.
If there is any patch to connect forms 6i into oracle 10g express edition.
mentioned database is created with Character set = UTF8 and the National Character Set = AL16UTF16 and got the result for other languages (latin,german,french etc) but still Chinese language was not supported.

Does windows 7 home basic support oracle 11g?
i am getting some error during installation.
I'm trying to follow a table naming conventions where the table names are in plural.
Which one according to you is the correct one?
- reservation_headers
- reservations_header
- reservations_headers

The query works with all the CTEs up to the last select statement. Oracle does not support the OUTER APPLY statement, how should the last piece be written to make it work in Oracle?

The best way to structure my schemas within a single Oracle instance to support multiple project development. At the moment, within an Oracle instance I have Area_Dev and Area1_Test schemas, with the intention that Project Xv1.0 would use Dev schema for development and Test schema for testing.
Lets say I want to start on Project Xv2.0 development while I am still finalizing Project Xv.10 development what is the best way of accommodating that, without creating individual schemas for each project?
I've got a oracle install [non production, but devel] that is a tad screwed up. We moved the box and as a result changed the hostname to match the new naming scheme. Ever since then OracleEM has been somewhat confused. In anycase, I don't want OEM anyways now. Plan is to learn SQLplus.
That being said I've used emctl to shut down dbconsole, but it seems there is something somewhere that keeps restarting 2 processes that like to sit around and take up 100% cpu. I can kill them, they stay dead for a few hours then crop up again.I was able to find this out about them:

My Question is dose Oracle Forms & Report Services (Standalone) Support data backup through Export (exp) utility. I have install Oracle Forms and Report Services (Standalone) on Window XP (SP-3).

View 6 Replies View RelatedI have a Host system of windows 8, installed the Virtual Box Latest edition.The guest OS is the oracle Linux that came with the Pre-Built Developer VMs from Oracle.The VM is set to HOST ONLY network setting. Now, the thing is that i want to access the Oracle in the guest machine from my windows host machine.the guest OS shows the IP address as 192.168.56.101. I can ping the IP address from the HOST machine, but cannot connect theSQL developer to the oracle in the guest OS from the host machine. It keeps on saying the Network adapter cannot connect. do not say that install the oracle in window itself. I actually want to do the same on my macbook pro as that is my primary machine.

My developers want to connecting using the SID or the SERVICE_NAME and by using the "New Method" syntax, not the "Old Method" syntax. According to the documentation the "New Method" syntax works with the SERVICE_NAME or the SID. The "Old Method" only works with the SID.
