Storing List Of Values Which Are Returned By A Select Query?
Oct 9, 2012
I have a requirement like getting list of values from one table and inserting them into another table.I have tried with sub querying but didn't worked out because the select query is returning multiple values.
how to proceed further and the ways how can I write this requirement.
is it possible to use the records returned by a query as column names in a select query.
select (select column_name from dba_tab_cols where table_name='V_$DATABASE' and column_name like '%CONTROL%') from v$database; * ERROR at line 1: ORA-01427: single-row subquery returns more than one row
Is there a way to loop through a list of literal values.
For instance create table car( name varchar2(11), passengers int, price int );
insert into car values ('fiat',1,1000); insert into car values ('bmw',2,2500) insert into car values ('ford',2,1500) insert into car values ('ferrari',4,5000)
select max(price) from car where passengers=1
How can i in a single query do this for where passengers = 1 then passengers = 2 then passengers = 3 etc where i have a list of possible values for passengers.
Just to update I realise this can be done with
select name, max(price) from car where passengers in (1,2,3) group by name
but in just wanted to know if there is a way of iterating through a literal list in tsql
I am trying to select multiple values from a parameter form based on a select statement.
I created the parameter and write the select statement under list-of-value property However what I want is to let users choose multiple values from the select statement not only one value.
I need to get multiple code values and put it into a variable which later need to pass into the where clause of an sql. But i am not getting any results even i pass those values in the variable of an where clause: below is my Procedure:
declare TYPE crMain_record is RECORD ( v_code dummy.v_code%type, n_no dummy.n_no%type,
[Code].....
END;"lv_character" is going to hold the multiple code values which i need to pass into whare clause of the above SQL: the totlal number of these mulitipe codes can be more then 50..
And lv_character values are commung from a setup table lv_character varchar2(32767):= '('||''''||'COMMIS'||''''||' , '||''''||'AGY BUILDING BENS'||''''||')'; --And lv_character values are commung from a setup table.where "lv_character" holdes multipe code values... And lv_character values are commung from a setup table and upper(d.v_code)in lv_characterif the
I created a package with some types, and every was compiling fine. However, when I ran the new function, I got an error: ORA-21700: object does not exist or is marked for delete
After a little research, I realized that the types would have to be declared outside the package. As soon as I did that, I suddenly started getting the "not enough values" errors on all my types. I compared the number of columns being returned, and the number of columns in the type, and they match.Here is my type code:
CREATE OR REPLACE TYPE TSA_CUSTOM.Lost_Plan as object ( LP_Key number, -- The member key of the plan that is going away LP_Type varchar2(20), LP_Dept varchar2(12), LP_SubDept varchar2(12), LP_Class varchar2(12), LP_VendorName varchar2(50) [code]...
BEGIN IF UPPER(:P23_SERVICE_TYPE) like 'GUIDE%' THEN SELECT NAME D, CODE R FROM SPECIAL_SERV_MAS WHERE NVL(ACTIVE_FLG,'N') = 'Y' AND NVL(GUIDE_FLAG,'N') = 'Y' and CITY_CODE LIKE NVL (:P23_CITY_CODE, '%')
[code]....
When i put this code in my LOV Select list Section then display me Error

I am trying to create a tabular form based on a SQL query, that has a query-based select list with a where clause that references a column in the originating SQL query.
The situation is, I have a table that stores client_id, source_id and build_id, lets call it client_source. I have a second table, build_source, that contains source_id and build_id, with a one to many relationship between the two (source_id of 1 could have build_id of 1-7).
Using a tabular form, I want to select the corresponding build_id to be used in client_source, but the select list must only contain the build_id's for that rows particular source_id.
Here is an example of the SQL source of my tabular form;
select s.ROWID, s.CLIENT_ID, s.SOURCE_ID, APEX_ITEM.SELECT_LIST_FROM_QUERY(1, s.BUILD_ID, 'select b.build_id display, b.build_id return from build_source b where b.source_id = s.SOURCE_ID ') lst from client_source s
... what I am trying to achieve is that the source_id fields in bold match. When the query is built this way I get an 'invalid identifier' Oracle error on s.SOURCE_ID at runtime.
Is there some special tags that need to be used to reference the outside column?I am running on Application Express 4.1.0.00.32, on a Oracle 10g release 10.2.0.4.0 database.
a tabular form with two "select list (query based LOV)" fields. The first one must affect elements in the second one. And so the second query based LOV field should has a "where attr1 = first_list_selected_value" in the query.
I created a "Select List" in the Shared Components area as follows:
My goal is to create a shared select list that can be used on any form for a particular Field.
IF :P10_FK_RSTA_CODE is NULL THEN RETURN 'select col_description, col_code_pk from CODE_TABLE where col_active_ind = ''Y'''; [code].....
Which works great, but how can I make the select list work for the same column on a different form? Because :P10_FK_RSTA_CODE is hard-coded in the function, I can't reuse this Function from a different form. (I could rename the Field on every form to the same name, but I'm hoping there is a better way.)
Is there a way I can pass in a variable from the Field Item to make this dynamic where I can use it on any form?
In col4 , we have to update the values of col3 (column) ... it is very easy to update the values by executing the query for each column but my requirement is ... I want to execute the query once for a table ( example select col1_abc,col2_abc from table_abc ... this will return always a single value after adding other conditions in where clause) and why I want to do this? .. because there can be multiple (might be 30 variables values) from a single table.
I have converted the columns into rows by using listagg function now I have lets a dynamic query ( for the above example).
for i in 1.2 loop
l_query := ' select col1_abc, col2_abc from table_abc'; open c1 for l_query;
end loop;
my problem is : how to hold these values and update the above table?
I am importing some data from Oracle into another database on a regular basis. It works fine for most of the queries but couple of queries don't work sometimes (random). I don't get any errors or any data.
We switched on the Oracle auditing to find out the queries being sent to oracle db. We can see all the queries in the Audit log. Is it possible to configure Auditing to get the "Number of Rows" returned by Select statements so that we can be sure that some data was returned.
1 select s.reg_no,s.course_code, 2 s.section src_sec,a.section a_sec,a.att_date,a.att_flag 3 from attendance a ,src s 4 where a.semester_code=1 5 and a.semester_year=2013 6 and s.semester_code=1 [code]....
I'm attempting to use dynamic SQL to execute a function that returns a user-defined collection. The problem is that I don't know how to use dynamic SQL to handle user-defined types...or if this is even possible?
The code I have is as follows:
CREATE OR REPLACE PACKAGE qi_test IS
TYPE typ_qi_data IS RECORD( iQIFlag NUMBER(1), iIPFlag NUMBER(1), iRiskIndicator NUMBER(1), iDenominator NUMBER(8), iNumerator NUMBER(8) [code]........
I want to be able to execute the above function using dynamic SQL. Initially tried:
DECLARE f2_data qi_test.typ_qi_data_tab; BEGIN EXECUTE IMMEDIATE 'begin :1 := qi_test.get_f2_data; end;' USING OUT f2_data; [code]......
...but this just produces "PLS-00457: expressions have to be of SQL types". So it looks like I can't do it this way if the returned data type is user defined. I know it would be easier in this instance to just use something like:
f2_data := qi_test.get_f2_data;
...rather than EXECUTE IMMEDIATE, but it's the principle that I need to get right as it forms part of a much bigger piece of work.
I M USING APEX 4.1 AND CREATED SELECT LIST ON PAGE, I WANT TO SHOW MIN VALUE OF THE SELECT LIST FOR THAT I WROTE IN THAT SELECT LIST PROPERTIES UNDER DEFAULT TAG MIN; AND CHOOSE PL/SQL EXPRESSION BUT ITS GIVING ERROR "Error computing item default value for page item P1_PRODUCT."
BUT IF I HARDCORE THE VALUE CONTAINING IN MY DATA LIKE PRODUCT ID = 1, I HARDCODED IN DEFAULT VALUE 1 AND SELECT PL/SQL EXPRESSION IT WORKS.
BUT ITS NOT DONE LIKE THIS I WANT TO SELECT BY DEFAULT MIN VALUE OF THE SELECT LIST, SO THAT THE DATA SHOULD BE DISPLAYED ACCORDING TO THAT.
THE EXACT REQUIREMENT IS TO ENTER THE SELECT LIST DEFAULT VALUE IN SESSION SO THAT DATA IS TO BE DISPLAYED.
I have developed one sample form using oracle Internet developer Suite 10g. It has two fields.
1.all employees(I set as combobox) 2.members (i set as text box)
In runtime all employees column has all the employee name displayed . If i select the employee name one by one it added into the members textbox. How to solve that issue?
I am using PL/SQL Developer.I have two tables: A and BTable A contains serial_from and serial_to values.This is used to define the serial numbers issued to customers (i.e. the start and end range of serial numbers issued).Shown here for a client:
Table B contains the individual numbers, B.serial (within the serial_from and serial_to range) along with other data, and is only created when the serial is used by the client.
I would like to create a list of records for individual clients containing serial numbers issued but not used. i.e. they are in between the serial_from and serial_to values in Table A, but not in Table B.
How can I create a list of numbers issued, but not yet used? Because Table A contains only two values (to and from) no record exists for them, so how do I generate a list and check against it?
I have made one LOV for vendor_names. On form level i want that when the user will enter a particular alphabet in a textbox assigned with LOV, the list should popup with only those elements starting with that particular alphabet. I have written the following code in the query of LOV wizard
query:
select distinct(bpt_ven_nm),bpt_ven_cd from bill_hdr1_tab where bpt_ven_nm like ('enter.vendr_nm'||'%') order by bpt_ven_nm
Wherin 'Enter' is the name of block and 'vendr_nm' is field name.
But its getting unsuccesfull. Any alternate way to get this result.
