I want to start up a reports server by executing the command "rwserver server=<server_name> start" via the windows command line. The status shows that the server is starting up but, the next second the status shows "Server is shutting down"
according to article "Installing Netbackup for Oracle agent on Unix". URL.... Shut Down all oracle instances on this client. The reason: sometimes Oracle will take a shared library (such as ours) and place it into its shared memory spaceMy question is how I can control existence shared library in memory space to define the real need of Shuting down of all oracle instances ? I'm usung 11.2.0.3
I have created database with 11.2.0.3 in RHEL 5. I have catalog database(RMAN) with version 10.2.0.1 and 5 databases with different versions(10.2.0.1,10.2.0.3,10.2.0.5) registered with this catalog databases.
Now I want to register the 11.2.0.3 database with catalog (RMAN) database.
Am getting error while I register :
#rman target / catalog=rman/rman@rman
connected to target database: TEST (DBID=12345678) connected to recovery catalog database
RMAN> register database;

I have a DBMS_JOB which fails due to unique constraint error while doing fast refresh. I wrote a After server error on database trigger to take backup of M$LOG file whenever unique constraint error occur.
Problem
Q1)If error is being logged in alert log then After server error on database trigger doesn't trigger. so no backup, Is this a normal behavior because i was under the impression that if any error in DB occurs then "After server error on database " will catch it?
If i manually try to do fast refresh it works fine
Q2) Is there any other way in Oracle to counter such issue?
when i start the Oracle database, the database is mounted. Then when i issue the "alter database open resetlogs" command, i got the below error.
ERROR at line 1: ORA-01194: file 1 needs more recovery to be consistent ORA-01110: data file 1: '/data/oracle/NYP15S1D/data03/SYSTEM_01.dbf'
So i added the parameter "_allow_resetlogs_corruption=TRUE" in "init.ORA" file to force open the database but the Oracle instance crashed with following message.
CREATE TYPE Address_type AS OBJECT( Location VARCHAR2(20), House_number NUMBER(6), Street_name VARCHAR2(30), Town VARCHAR2(20), County VARCHAR2(20), Postcode VARCHAR2(20)); /

We have a Crystal report which calles a stored procedure using cursors. One of the tables in the stored procedure has been changed to a view which has GRANT access for the connecting user. When the report is run I get a failed to connect to database error message.
The capture process and the propogation rule and scn instantiation on the source were executed fine withut issue, I am having problem in the apply process.

I am trying to export a full DATABASE using the command...EXP [username/password]@[CS]FILE=PATH\[filename.dmp] LOG=PATH\[logname.log] INDEXES=n STATISTICS=none COMPRESS=Y
the database begins to export as shown below, but the export terminates with the below error.
About to export specified users ... . exporting pre-schema procedural objects and actions . exporting foreign function library names for user [username] . exporting PUBLIC type synonyms . exporting private type synonyms [code],,,,
considering that i have exported full databases successfully before using the mentioned command above.
I have 2 server install oracle : server 1 and server 2
server 1 run database DB01
i use rman backup DB01 ( this command : BACKUP FULL DATABASE PLUS ARCHIVELOG DELETE INPUT; ) and move ( The database backup pieces , Controlfile backup piece, The parameter file i.e init.ora file) to server 2 .
At server 2 :
After start database with init.ora file and restore controlfile error :

I just shutdown the database and it seems to take a while, don't know if it's stuck or just takes awhile. I try to restart it in another session and get this error:
'ORA-01012: not logged on'
1) Shutdown SQL> connect sys/Welcome1 as sysdba Connected. SQL> shutdown normal _
2) So I try to restart it as sysdba on another session and get this error Connected to an idle instance. SQL> startup ORA-01012: not logged on
I have installed Oracle 11gR2 on Windows 7 professional. I created a DB and a listener also.No issues there; I can connect to the DB with sqlplus and SQL Developer.when I try to configure dbcontrol on this DB, it fires errors;

I have a problem when I install oracle 11g: I did an installation on a win2008 r2 server and everything works fine, I did another installation on another server in the same network as a test, but at the end of the installation I get an alert that says:
start database error control ..... Executing set oracle_unqname and then emctl start dbcontrol. of course nothing happens.
dbcontrol_nome the service instance will not start. checking the file in your home directory I always acts everything is in place. I reinstalled windows to eliminate all the checks made, repeated installation and here appeared the same problem.
question: can exist 2 oracle installations on the same network with the same name db? I currently have two installations of the same name with oracle db 10
