does the source database have to be open in read-only? or can it be online at the time of exporting?
*do not take mean-while running transactions into consideration, I will do it at night when nobody's working.
At once when I open the form when I press F11 it is not entering query mode. But if I type something in the text box placed in the form then I press F11 means it is asking "Do you want save the changes you have made?" if I press yes or no, no matter it is going for query mode. How to go to query mode without typing something in it?

Is it possible to take this schema export in windows command prompt mode and any guess how long it would take to complete the export ?Because based on the time it takes, i am going to perform the export in windows command prompt.
How do I check for the data in the DMP file.
Actually I have done some search but with no result. I have to check the oracle DMP file which is being sent through the EXP utility from oracle and have to search for a pattern in the file. If the pattern in found then send a mail.
I have tried using the GREP on the DMP and SED but as the lines are longer than expected these are not providing desired results.
We are using sqlldr query to load data into a table. This is handled in a java code. We are uploading an xls file which gets converted into csv and then the sqlloader call works, which in turn creates a bad and log file for error messages.
But I am not able to locate the bad file(in filesystem) within java code.

My job is running at 2 am and that time no application user is connected. Even though, my exp utility shows error on 3 tables (2 are temp tables), everyday. But when expdp is running without error, which was scheduled at 4 am.

1) If i do changes in table on primary database and if i open standby database in Read-Only mode, i can see those changes immediately only if Real Time Apply is enabled. Am i correct? Database version is 10.2.0.4
2) From 11g, It is possible to apply redo while the standby is open in read only mode. prior to 11g, it was not possible. Right?
3) Should I first cancel Managed Recovery prior to issuing “ALTER DATABASE COMMIT TO SWITCHOVER TO PRIMARY”?

View 8 Replies View RelatedI need to develop a form which has to read and display the contents of a text file that is stored in the Unix system where the Oracle data base is installed. So basically its the database server and not the forms application server.
1. Create an external table for the file everytime when the form is loaded by dropping and re creating the table and base the data block in the form on that table and execute_query and display the contents.
2. I am confused whether to use webutil or utlfile packages to read from the file and display on the screen as the file resides in the database or Oracle server and not forms application server or client machine.
I am facing a strange issue on 11gR2 (OEL 5.4) standby readonly with apply database.It's throwing 16000: database open for read-only access during SELECT's .

how to find the versions of exp and imp utilities of database server from windows command prompt?

We have configured oracle one way stream between two databases. Source database is capturing the changes (No downstream configured). Configuration was working fine but destination database was lagging behind very much i.e about 15 days behind the source database. We are ok with this but the problem is now that , as per client request we have restored previous backup and open the database with resetlog option in source database. After resetlog , archivelog sequence has been changed and stream is not working.
Can I apply the previous archivelog (before resetlog archivelogs ) in destination database anyway.Source database is a production database.

View 18 Replies View RelatedI created a standby database yesterday and everything is working correctly. I need to make some tweaks, however, and one of those is the directory that the standby database expects the archivelogs to be.
I found that the archivelogs were being shipped to $ORACLE_HOME/dbs and named arch*.arc. Interestingly a log switch ships the archivelog minus the "arch" at the front and all archivelogs now do not have that format. I moved the archivelogs to the correct location and renamed them. I have been able to set the correct location using standby_archive_dest and can see that the archivelogs are shipped to there.
Also, v$archived_log shows the correct path and filename. The problem I have is that when I come to apply the archivelogs it still seems to think that they should be in $ORACLE_HOME/dbs and named with "arch" at the front. what parameter I need to change to tell oracle the correct path and filename to use when applying the archivelogs?
I need to move database ORCL into our existing central database CNTR (both are on same OS and oracle version) I started exp each schema from ORCL and imp in CNTR.
But there is one schema EXMP in database ORCL which also exists in CNTR database with same tables, indexes . The data under schema EXMP in ORCL should be added to schema EXMP in CNTR.
I do not import a full database.

to check directory name and valus then in output its shown name:-utl_file_dir and valus:-E:RAB but in our new database its does not shown any value like E:RAB in migrated database as i have recreated that directory in new database but still that issue persist .
i'm not able to open layout in the custom form.automatically it will be closing and giving this error. Oracle Forms Designer has encountered a problem and needs to close.
