Server Utilities :: SQL Loader Or External Table With A Trigger?
Aug 14, 2013
I have to have a sequence added to a large(288 million rows) file when I load the file into the table. If I use SQL Loader I can't use direct since I have a trigger for each row for the sequence but I am not sure if an external table will be any faster since the trigger will be firing for each row also. In this scenario is one better than the other ?
getting proper value from the file in external table.
How can I get the whole status in STATUS column like completed , Inprogress, incompleted. Right now, if I gave position like (38:9) full status doesn't show. if I give (38:11) then '|1' is adding in status from the flat file.
BATCH_NO FILE_DATEEMP_ID COMPANY_ID TRANSACTIN_ID FILE_NAME STATUS DOC_NO 10000104252012100001***4252012**1:35:57***D100001***04252012***10:35:57***Diverified
im trying to create an external table, and i load my data without no problem, and everything is fine, but i got some behavior with one column that i would like to know whats behind scenes, OK let's get the example:
[*] Sample Data Line 1:333 1111111112009100000000000080000000013450.33 Line 2:11111111111220091016000000004.48 Line 3:222222222 220091016000000004.48 Line 4:(This is a blank line left)
As you can see i can upload my table with no problem but i always get 3 lines counting last blank line if i try LOAD WHEN COL_A != BLANKS, i dont know if its a problem of the blank space left between fixed fields length, but if i do LOAD WHEN COL_B != BLANKS i get correct result 2 lines instead of 3, i want to know why (missing fields...) and (reject rows...) are not working...
Note: COL_A could be 9-11 length, if length its 9 then 2 spaces left before next one...
i created the External Table using the script below.
CREATE TABLE EXT_ST_FINANCEIRO_REAL ( DT_DATA NUMBER, TIPO NUMBER, ENTIDADE NUMBER, VALOR Varchar2(40))
....
ORA-29913: error in executing ODCIEXTTABLEOPEN callout ORA-29400: data cartridge error KUP-00554: error encountered while parsing access parameters KUP-01005: syntax error: found "missing" expecting on of: "column, exit,(" KUP-01007: at line 6 column 1 ORA-06512: at "SYS.ORACLE_LOADER", line 19
from Control file, data is getting popupalated in TEST_USER and TEST_TITLE similarly if remove
INTO TABLE TEST_TITLE( TX_SID POSITION(1:3) CHAR, ID_TITLE "get_title_id(:TITLE_NAME)" ,
...
from Control file, TEST_USER and TEST_ROLE is getting populated.
Here RD_ROLE_MASTER script
CREATE TABLE RD_ROLE_MASTER ( "ID_ROLE" NUMBER(38,0) NOT NULL ENABLE, "TX_ROLE_NAME" VARCHAR2(20 BYTE) NOT NULL ENABLE
...
Here is RD_TITLE_MASTER script CREATE TABLE RD_TITLE_MASTER( "ID_TITLE" NUMBER(38,0) NOT NULL ENABLE, "TX_TITLE_NAME" VARCHAR2(25 BYTE) NOT NULL ENABLE);
Insert into RD_TITLE_MASTER (ID_TITLE,TX_TITLE_NAME) values (7,'RED_LOB_ESCALATION_L1'); what is the problem?
I Have one csv file.i want to load to a table trough sql*loader.but in table 3 column is there.but in the csv file some record hav one semicolumn in last filed like this
I have a file having 10k of rows and I need to use *sql loader to insert the data into table. Below are the information.
SQL> desc EMPLOYEE Name Type EMP_ID NUMBER(10) -- PrimaryKey EMP_NAME VARCHAR2(30) DEPT_ID NUMBER(10) -- ForeignKey from DEPARTMENT
SQL> desc DEPARTMENT Name Type DEPT_ID NUMBER(10) DEPT_NAME VARCHAR2(30)
myFile.txt ------------ 1,Edward,Account 2,Andrew,Finance 3,Sam, IT
CONTROL FILE (SQLLOADER) ------------ load data infile myFile.txt append into table EMPLOYEE FIELDS TERMINATED BY ',' (EMP_ID, EMP_NAME, DEPT_ID ) <--- ?? What should do in here
what should i do in this line because the value that i want is DEPT_ID but the file is giving the DEPART_NAME. If there any sql statement can be used in control file?
I am using a shell script to load unix content to a database.I have captured the unix data to a csv file and I am using a sql loader to inser that csv data to database. following is my ctl file contents.
load data infile data.csv into table AVS_LOGS fields terminated by ',' ( RUNDATETIME, SERVER, DIRECTORY, FILENAME, LASTUPDATETIMESTAMP )
and I am using sql loader command in unix that is sqlldr $CLOGIN control=control.ctl log=test.log
But this is working only if the table is empty. Now I am looking for something where I do not need to delete the data from table each time. it should update the table.
I'm trying to load data into a table using SQL Loader but getting a failure error below.

l am loading data i.e text file of huge size into oracle 9i db using sqlldr through command prompt, but my table contains already some data so while loading it shows error as
SQL*Loader-601: For INSERT option, table must be empty.
i cant truncate my table since present data is important.
I am having query regarding sql loader. my data file is comm(,) seperated and I want to load the whole file in oracle table 'bill_temp' except 1st column data of data file.
e.g. File name: bill_file.dat fields seperated by comma ',' values are like emp_id,emp_name,emp_sal,join_date oracle table bill_temp having the below column: emp_name,emp_sal,join_date
Here I want load the emp_name,emp_sal and join_date into oracle table bill_temp. emp_id should not get loaded into table.
Is there any way to skip the loading of particular column data from data file into table?
I am having a similar problem like above ONLY in UNIX box where my datafile is delimited by "|". The last field is ITM_CMNT declared as VARCHAR2(60) in Oracle. When I have exactly 60bytes in the last field it rejects the record saying actual 61 and max allowed is 60. If i reduce it to < 60bytes then it is stored as a value enclosed with double quotes. The enclosing double quote is on the next line.
"PROC,RAM,FLPY,HD,ACT MTX CLR DSP,D/PCMCIA,TRKBAL,LIT ION BA"
Expected: the one below is exactly 60bytes.
PROC,RAM,FLPY,HD,ACT MTX CLR DSP,D/PCMCIA,TRKBAL,LIT ION BAT LOAD DATA INFILE * INTO TABLE TMPTLI_LAWSON_ITM_MST TRUNCATE FIELDS TERMINATED BY "|" (ITM_NO, HAZ_MAT_CD, ITM_SHRT_DS, ITM_SON "TRIM(:ITM_SON)", ADDED_DT DATE "YYYY-MM-DD", AVL_CD , ITM_CST_AMT, ITM_SLL_AMT, EXCHG_PRC_AMT , ITM_UOM "TRIM(:ITM_UOM)", PCK_QTY INTEGER EXTERNAL, SPC_HNDL_CD "TRIM(:SPC_HNDL_CD)", EFF_DT DATE "YYYY-MM-DD", ITM_CMNT "TRIM(:ITM_CMNT)")
the control file code in this path (c:externalctrl.ctl)
load data infile 'C:externalmy_data.txt' into table emp2 fields terminated by ',' (empno, ename, hiredate, etime, ejob, deptno)
this is the error :

I am new in external table so i have tried following cmd.
create directory dir_1 as 'E:ora_dirt' ; grant read, write on directory dir_1 to HR; select * from all_directories; create table emp_ext (emp_id number, emp_name varchar2(30)
...
since I am not able to see DIR_1 in E: drive due to which i havnt created 'emp.dat' file and on executing select on external table i m geting expected error *"ORA-29913: error in executing ODCIEXTTABLEOPEN callout ORA-29400: data cartridge error KUP-04043: table column not found in external source: EMP_ID"*
I just did a 112G file migration of production data using oracle_datapump so I know this works in principle. When I tried it on my test instance I am seeing stuff like this
why it could be taking 1800 seconds to select one record from a not very big table? File corruption? Disc fragmentation? Oracle instance configuration?
i just posted another topic where i heard about external table and i had a few questions concerning them. I thought it was best to create a new topic than to continue on the other one...
I noticed that to create an external table the CTL is like this: CREATE TABLE emp_load (FIELDS description) ORGANIZATION EXTERNAL (TYPE ORACLE_LOADER DEFAULT DIRECTORY ext_tab_dir ACCESS PARAMETERS (RECORDS FIXED 62 FIELDS (employee_number CHAR(2),
...
1) This creates an external table, but, is it possible to Create a normal table in a CTL file? For physical tables, the table has to exist right?
2) if you create a view linked to 2 external tables and if the CSV files are updated each day, the external tables will be updated automatically, and the view will be updated as well?
3) Can't there be any synchronisation problems?
4) What happens if a select request (or someone requests on the view) while the CSV file is being updated?
5) Is there anyway you can protect the accesses from those tables/views when the CSVs are being updated?
6) Is it possible to create an index on these sort of tables?
7) Is it possible to index a view?
8) Are external tables visible on a tool like sql developper?
While i like to start CSS service to create new ASM instance in my own pc for testing purpose gettting the below errors "'localconfig' is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file.".
I have got a procedure that successfully creates an oracle external table and populates it with the contents of a file. This works fine until I have a situation where one of the fields is a VARCHAR2(2) and I try to insert say, a 5 character value. When this happens the record in question does not get populated in the external table (and rightly so), but I could do with working out if there is a discrepancy in the number of records in the file and the number of records that actually make it into the table so I could inform the user that there is a problem.
I have attached the code that creates the external table and populates it.
I installed oracle 10G complete so I can have everything. But now I cannot run sql loader. I check my oracle devsuitehome directory and I cannot find sqlldr.exe
I need to install sql loader separately? I can't find sql loader installer on web.
- 1 - M or P: indicates which table to insert: MASTER or PARENT; - 2 - M or A or B: indicates MASTER, PARENT_A, PARENT_B; - 3:18 - DATA.
Based on the values above, what I need to do is:
1. Load a line to MASTER_TABLE; 2. Load a line to PARENT_TABLE_A pointing to its relative line in MASTER_TABLE; 3. Load a line to PARENT_TABLE_B pointing to its relative line in MASTER_TABLE; 4. In the original file line, there is nothing I can use to join a MASTER line with a PARENT line.
The result would be: MASTER_ID PARENT_DATA 1 PARENT_TABLE_A1 1 PARENT_TABLE_B1 2 PARENT_TABLE_A2 2 PARENT_TABLE_B2
I tried to use both: SEQUENCE and Sequence.NextVall (CurrVal) but they only work when using ROWS=1 and the file I need to load has millions of rows, so I need direct path loading. Also, I read about External Table, but it does not suit my needs because the Application server is not the same as Database server, which is needed by external tables.
in this case is better load the data to a temporary table and then insert to the other tables, I found almost the same question in the topic pointed by the link below: URL....
I want to load geometry into a table using sql*loader. My datafile contains geometry defined as WKT URL...., a standard for geometry and also Oracle has a function called sdo_util.from_wktgeometry.If I'm using a separate 'insert into' statement using this function in sql*plus, there's no problem. But if I'm using the same function in my control-file for sql*loader import, I get a sql*loader-418 error: "bad datafile for column geometrie".
My data file contains records with RECORD_TYPE '01', '02', '03' and '04' in position (30:31) I use sql loader to load this data into a table. I need to load ONLY rows with RECORD_TYPE ='04'. I have to output all the other rows into a file, so I decided to use DISCARD file. Now, those with RECORD_TYPE ='4' have to be loaded into different columns depending on the value in position (267:268).
So, my ctl file should look something like:
WHEN (30:31) = '04' into table MYDATA WHEN (267:268) != 'O ' into table MYDATA WHEN (267:268) = 'O '
and whatever is not '04' goes to discard file.
I tried to use
into table MYDATA WHEN (30:31) = '04' and (267:268) != 'O ' into table MYDATA WHEN (30:31) = '04' and (267:268) = 'O '
but I don't get the right result in terms of the discard file.
Is there any way to put together all these conditions?
The SQL loader somehow is loading only first record. The data file is a csv and the end of line character is a new line. Some text fields have multiple new lines.
Here is my control file
load data infile '/home/devo/c0397105/RuleImport/testLoad/dummyLoad.csv' Truncate into table DUMMY_LOAD_TABLE fields terminated by "," optionally enclosed by '"' ( ID "to_number(:ID)",REQUESTED_GROUP,PURPOSE,COMMENTS)
........
We don't have Retail resource type as Dependent System now; the rule will be changed later when Dependent Systems can accept resource types other than application"
I am using sqlloader for loading the data into database by using csv file.My csv file is delimited by comma in that i am having a column which is having the , and line feeds targeted to load into a long data type.for example as below
descri,dfdfdfd,dfdfdf, sdfsdf, dfsdfd,
i want to move this column data into a single table column. But due to because of delimited "," it is splitting into number of columns
