I have a situation where when I login as a user to my DBvia sqlplus no service name it takes about 20 secs to connect.Yet when I login as a user with DBA privs it logs in immediately.
Is there something I can do to trace what is happneing behind scences to determine what the login delay may be..
When I run sqlplus and try to loging as system/<admin passwd> I get information:
ERROR:
ORA-01034: ORACLE not available
ORA-27101: shared memory realm does not exist
Linux-x86_64 Error: 2: No such file or directory
Process ID: 0
Session ID: 0 Serial number: 0
I understand, that this is a common question and the common answer is don't have trailing slash in ORACLE_HOME and set ORACLE_SID. But I did this.
export ORACLE_HOME=/u01/app/oracle/product/11.2.0/xe
export PATH=$PATH:$ORACLE_HOME/bin
export ORACLE_SID=XE
export LD_LIBRARY_PATH=$ORACLE_HOME/lib
I created an externally authenticated user in database. And can login without password with below syntax.
SQL> connect / @TESTDB
Connected.
SQL> show user;
USER is "SCOTT"
This scott user has a proxy permission to another DBuser PROXY_USER. Previously I used to login using below syntax.
connect scott[proxy_user]/password_for_scott@TESTDB
So now, what syntax should be used for this "ExternallY Authenticated" user to login as a proxy user?
I just create a user and tried to log in but it gives the following error, why?

I have tried with SID (@TESTDB) and SERVICE NAME (@TESTDB.mydomain.local) and leaving it blank, nothing works. I cant connect as SQLTXPLAIN.
How we can resolve :

We have two database instances on the same server. One was left at 9.2.0.7 and one was upgraded to 10.2.0.3. Connecting externally (sqlplus '/as sysdba') to the 9.2.0.7 database is lightning fast. Connecting externally to the 10.2.0.3 database is very slow, comparatively speakiing. This is on an IBM AIX-5L (64-bit) machine. We are using "tnsnames".
View 10 Replies View RelatedI have a query which takes 5 minutes when run through the java app which uses hibernate. I've cut and pasted the SQL directly from hiberate trace file and run it in sqlplus/sqldeveloper and it runs instantly (0.01 seconds)(uses the index all ok and explain plan looks good - see below.) I don't know how to get the explain plan when it's running through the app or why it should be any different anyway as the query is identical.

this is the first time i tried to open sql*plus and i didn't create any database connection before....so i don't have any username and password.......

Users use front end (called ESS Console) and when they try to open one of those tables they wait very long (really bad performance). Sometimes the GUI even hanging without displaying results.
Does Partitioned Tables feature works for better performance?
I need to login remote DB writing a shell script where our DB is on a separate node, i have to test the script only with

these details. May be am wrong to ask this question but i need to login and check the requirement. Is there any other anyway to login without sqlplus utility?
database administration , we are planning to use amazon cloud database , this database does not allow us to login to server machine , unfortunately amazon don't provide ssh to this machine , in general for doing any of adminstration task on the database will there be need to log into the machine ? we can always log in through toad or any other sql client but we cannot do ssh to server..general can this limitation effect administration ?

Every thing is working but when we click on button in login form at that time parameter.p_userid will return null. because above code is define on button click in login screen, i cannot understand where i need to define the above code .
I have installed Oracle in workgroup, while i workgroup it is working fine. But latter I have change the server from workgroup to domain. At that time Oracle was not working , not able to connect. After that I change the Domain to workgroup again. And same problem exist. But I found that lsnrctl is working fine. But OracleServiceXXX is not able to startup in services.msc

I have a mainform through which one can access 3 different application(say a ,b,c)i have made three push buttons by clicking it the main menu of the respeective application is called.The three applcication have different users(user a,user b,userc)and have different database on the same version(db1,db2,db3 on 111g).I am using formservlet and i am calling the main form. configuration.I dont want the user to enter the username and password so i have hardcored it in formsweg.cfg file. my problem is that i login to the main form as 'user a' so i can access the application'a'.but now if i want to access applicatin 'b' how can i can i login as 'user b'?
