Server Administration :: Partitioned Tables For 30+ GB Table Which Load Very Slow In Front End GUI
May 13, 2013
that are my biggest tables
Users use front end (called ESS Console) and when they try to open one of those tables they wait very long (really bad performance). Sometimes the GUI even hanging without displaying results.
Does Partitioned Tables feature works for better performance?

While trying partition exchange feature of Oracle with 2 hash partitioned tables, I come to know that I can't directly exchange partitions between 2 partitioned tables
I have two hash partitioned tables , so to move partition data from one table to another will include-
1) Exchange from partitioned table to non-partitioned table.
2) exchange from non-partitioned table to new partitioned table.
But I am not sure in which hash partition my data will go in new partitioned table (data need to be moved has single key value on basis of which tables are partitioned),

I want to load data into more tables from many files ,based on first column value, which is FILLER field.i am trying to test this scenario with two oracle tables with similar definition. and load one record on each table using WHEN/POSITION keywords. for this , i added first column as reference column in the data which i have in ctl file itself.
1st table loaded with 1st record. But, 2nd record not loading.if i missed anything with WHEN/POSITION keyword ?
This is the error in log file for 2nd table(WD1):
Record 2: Rejected - Error on table WD1, column TAB.
ORA-01841: (full) year must be between -4713 and +9999, and not be 0
Table WD1:
0 Rows successfully loaded.
1 Row not loaded due to data errors.
1 Row not loaded because all WHEN clauses were failed.
0 Rows not loaded because all fields were null.

I am trying to export a partition of a table and import it to another database. I get the below error when I try to import.
ORA-14400: inserted partition key does not map to any partition
If I export the table(for that particular partition) and import the table(after dropping the table) in destination, the partitions and sub partitions are created without any problem.
The table is Range Partitioned and Sub partitioned in List. So I had to perform the below operation if I want to retain other data in the Destination table.
1. Drop the existing partition
2. Create the partition and sub partition, same as source
3. Execute imp
In fact I had to perform step#2, as if I split the partition also, the sub partition gets replicated in the new partition, which again throws the same error. Is there better way of managing the partitions and subpartition in destination with exp/imp utility, so that I need not perform step#1 and step#2 manually.

I would like to ask about indexes in partitioned tables.I have indexes on a partitioned table, it is partitioned by range method i.e based on Creation date time. All select queries sent to the table use the Creation date time. I have an index on Creation date time. Here is an example:
SELECT col1, col2, col3
FROM table1 where
date_time BETWEEN TO_DATE ('20120117 10:00:00','YYYYMMDD HH24:MI:SS')
AND TO_DATE ('20120117 13:00:00','YYYYMMDD HH24:MI:SS')
AND frmt_name = 'XXXX'
AND sender = 'YYYYY'
AND nature = 'ZZZZ'
AND type LIKE '548'
ORDER BY date_time
WHERE ROWNUM <= 5000
[code]....
do I have to add DATE_TIME to all indexes (IX_NAME_FORMAT_TYPE,IX_CCY) or not?

understand on the below regarding partitioning table and indices.
1. How to know if each partition have LOCAL index or Global index?
I had the above question duw to the beloe reason :
I have a table with 130 partitions and 7 indices. When checked the DBA_IND_PARTITIONS it lists down only 1 index name (which distinct) for all the 130 partitions.
Does it mean it is a Global index? If Global index, is it partitioned? How to get those information?
2. Assuming, if i have LOCAL indices for every partitions, from where i shall nail down the name of each local index and how would i get the detail of referencing Global index?
3. By which type a table was partitioned? LIST,HASH,RANGE ?

My problem is only on Some Saturday's my Oracle server's Load average goes high (more than 300 ).
-- oracle version 11.2.0.1.0
-- runs on Sun solaris 10
-- Sun fire V 440
-- Sun storEdge 3315 connected to the server.
Same setup is working find with higher volumes without any problem but only on saturday's, that too not on all saturdays, some specific saturdays the load average goes high.
At the time nothing will be processed from the application side and the cpu utilisation goes high upto 95 %.
I am sending necessary information as follows.

I am having query regarding sql loader. my data file is comm(,) seperated and I want to load the whole file in oracle table 'bill_temp' except 1st column data of data file.
e.g.
File name: bill_file.dat
fields seperated by comma ','
values are like
emp_id,emp_name,emp_sal,join_date
oracle table bill_temp having the below column:
emp_name,emp_sal,join_date
Here I want load the emp_name,emp_sal and join_date into oracle table bill_temp.
emp_id should not get loaded into table.
Is there any way to skip the loading of particular column data from data file into table?
