View 1 Replies View Relatedwe are having physical standby database and production database..we have create a soft link for a datafile in production to another mount point
ex- /disk1/data1 to /disk2/data1
now we want to keep the datafile in /disk2/data1 and remove the softlink..As we are having physical standby database . i need to know what are step to be taken. my action plan is as follows:
In production.
1. synchronise both standby(apply archive logs) and production.
2.shut down the standby
3.create controlfile in production in ascii format and edit the path (/disk1/data1 to /disk2/data1)
4. run the @control.sql that i have created
4.create a standby control file in production .
In standby:
1. take the backup of controlfile.
2.place the newly create controlfile(from production) to the location of controlfile
3. remove soft link.
4.startup mount.
5. then we can apply logs as usual to make the standby sync.
whether my action plan is 100% correct or any changes to be done.

I have dataguard configuration operating in maximum availability mode with a local standby db (A - lgwr sync not using real time apply) and a remote standby db (B - lgwr async). I then simualted a crash of my primary database with batch jobs running. Since the stby db A is in lgwr sync option ,all the commited data in the current online redo log has been transmitted to stby A and is present in its stby redo log (Group 2).How do I apply this stby redo log to the remote stby db.
Tried the following methods.
1.ftp the stby redo log to the remote db and tried to regiter it, got an error that it is not completely archived.
2.issued the recover standby database command and supplied the stby redo log when it asked for the sequence in the stby redo, got an error saying there is corruption in a block(tried this option multiple times ended up with the same result.)
My steps for testing as below:
1.create a primary database
2.duplicate a physical standby database;
3.turn on flashback on both databases.
4.record SCN xxx on physical standby database.
5.convert physical standby to logical standby (using keep identity statement)
6.flashback to logical standby to xxx
7.convert logical standby to physical standby
8.using real time apply I got errors: Fast Parallel Media Recovery enabledManaged Standby Recovery starting Real Time ApplyMRP0:

I searched in google but could not able to find anything in this regard.
I want to know that what will happen when I will resize database file from 32G to 5G on primary server or add file to tablespace. Will standby server do the same automatically or I have to to something with standby server?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI would like to export few tables from the physical standby which is in read only mode.
I have tried both the exp and expdp methods and could successfully export and import the tables from physical standby using exp unfortunately the expdp does not allow this process from a read only database.
Does this mean that we still have to use the exp feature instead of expdp ?
Note : I would expect a proper response from experts and no unwanted comments like "Contact Oracle support" or "Paste the entire command here" or "Read the Manuals" or "Why i am exporting from Standby and not from Primary" etc.

I am having a few issues trying to set up a physical standby database.
The primary database has a different naming structure than the standby and they are at different sites.
Physical is /var/hpsrp/ctrorp03/oradata/u0x/<DB_NAME>/<DB_UNIQUE_NAME> and standby is /var/hpsrp/drforp03/oradata/u0x/<DB_NAME>/<DB_UNIQUE_NAME>.
I have set db_file_name_convert to '<PRIMARY PATH>', '<STANDBY PATH>' times the number of paths as pairs. I have created a blank database for standby and having taken a full backup of primary with control file and standby control file.
Now I hit the issues:
The DB incarnation numbers are different. When I try and do a normal restore e.g. set dbid, restore controlfile; mount; it fails as it is trying to find files in the primary structure and not standby structure. When I try renaming via set newname or auxname it can't find files to restore I guess due to the incarnation id's. If I set the incarnation id and try to restore backup it fails as the incarnation id's don't match.
I have tried looking through various forums and the documentation but can't find a solution, probably can't see the wood for the trees though as there is so much.

what can be optimum sql for this?
I can get a list of invalid objects, know how to recompile them but I was wondering if there was a way to query the date/time of when an object went invalid.
I'm working on a 10.2.0.4.0 (Enterprise Edition) database running on SLES10.
I am having a particular SQL, i want to know the frequency/count of execution of this particular sql in my prod DB. how can i get this.
I get the sql in v$sql but didn't get the same record in dba_hist_sqlstat view.
I have 2 tables that I am going to use. These are AUDIT_LOG, and AUDIT_PROPERTIES. AUDIT_LOG tells me that who made the change and at what time. AUDIT_PROPERTIES basically tells me that what the old value was and what the new value is.
These tables operate at the field level. For example, I have a module called BUG. Now a BUG (as a module entity or record) has several fields. There are around 25 fields. But I am interested in only 3 of these fields- these are BG_STATUS (Status), Priority (BG_PRIORITY) and Severity (BG_SEVERITY). This is my requirement:
Between a given period of time (let us say the month of January), give me the count of bugs that, 1) had an "Open" Status, 2) Were of "Medium" Severity, 3) And had a "Low" priority....each of these 3 conditions must be true simultaneously, means, that to be a "qualified" bug, the bug must be Open, Medium severity and low priority at the same given time within the month.
Below are the query and an image of the data looks like.
i have setup the OEM-Dataguard in order to duplicate the DB instance from the primary to the standby DB in the standby server.At first I installed oracle server in Server A (Primary) created DB instance of SCT, in archivelog mode and then I install the oracle binary in Server B (standby) and made 2 servers ORACLE_HOME the same and also I installed OEM agents on the 2 servers and registered successfully to the OEM server.
I then used the dataguard to do the initial backup of the DB in server A and but when I specify the standby DB location, it prompt me the following error.

I new to data guard concept.
I am using oracle 10g with data guard configured , I have primary ( A ) and standby database ( B ) .But because of some unavoidable conditions the primary database ( A ) got shutdown and was not starting , We shifted the standby database ( B ) at new location and changed it to primary with following command ,
startup mount;
alter database recover managed standby database finish;
alter database commit to switchover to physical primary;
shutdown;
startup;
This new primary ( B ) was open for end users for 2 days during which old primary ( A ) was shutdown .
I took the backup of ( B ) and restored it on A AND shutdown the B . Now A is acting as Primary database. Server B is shutdown . I want to change server B to standby database with A running as Primary .Is it possible ?
I have 3 main tables as projects, tasks, clients. Then I have a history table for each. I created a trigger on update/delete that takes the old records and inserts into the history.
Now, I need to retrieve the history but I have no clue how to do so. I need to join these 3 history tables with:
1. select from projects_history with projectID = 1
2. if no records, then go back to projects and get projectID = 1
3. select from task_history with taskID = 1
4. if no records, then go back to tasks with taskID = 1
5. select from client_history with clientID = 1
6. if no records, then go back to client with clientID = 1
where client.taskID = task.taskId and task.projectID = project.projectID.

I have a table CISCOWORKS that contains dumps from Ciscoworks. Now I want to make a history table CISCOWORKS_HISTORY that contains all information I no longer need actively (entries that have the same CISCOWORKS_MAC as newer entries).
The two tables are like this, exactly the same.
DROP TABLE CISCOWORKS IF EXISTS;
CREATE TABLE CISCOWORKS
(
CISCOWORKS_IDNUMBER(9,0),
CISCOWORKS_MACVARCHAR2(20 BYTE),
CISCOWORKS_SWITCHVARCHAR2(10 BYTE),
CISCOWORKS_PORTVARCHAR2(10 BYTE),
[code].....
I guess I will have to check the INSERTED table and check every entry to see if there is a entry in the CISCOWORKS table with the same CISCOWORKS_MAC. If so, insert an entry in CISCOWORKS_HISTORY with the attributes of the CISCOWORKS entry, and then delete the CISCOWORKS entry. how would I check every entry separately?
