pgit_policy is transaction table having producer code field.
pgith_policy is history table, on that table if any endorsement passed new records created with same polh_sys_id and increment on POLH_END_NO_IDX.
I am trying to update all records of the history table but its updating only higest POLH_END_NO_IDX only. i need to update all producer code.

I've a table with fields:
create table test
( f1 varchar2(10),
f2 varchar2(10),
f3 varchar3(10)
)
insert into test values ('d1','d2','d3');
insert into test values ('d10','d20','d30');
I want to update the fields of the table as per need i.e update only one field leaving all the data of the fields as it is. Suppose I want to update only f1 (from d1 to x1) field leaving f2, and f3 as it is. I've written stored procedure to update all the fields but do not know how to do it?

I just applied the Jan 2013 SPU and the patch succeeded with no errors; however, when I query DBA_REGISTRY_HISTORY after running the catbundle.sql, the table is not reflecting the new patch. I checked through the catbundle log files and did not see any errors. What could be wrong?
I am running 11.2.0.3 single instance.

I have an application where I'm trying to match skillset supply to skillset demand. We have resources and we have work for resources to do. Resources possess a set of skills. Work requires a set of skills. Skillsets are described by three fields: Domain, Target, Skill. So, we are able to capture the supply of skills in a table:
RSRC_ID (FK to Resource table)
DOMAIN
TARGET
SKILL
PROFICIENCY (this is the skill level 1 to 5)
The relationship of resources to skill supply is 1 to many. Conversely, work demands skills, and so we capture skill demand in a table:
WORK_ID (FK to Work table)
DOMAIN
TARGET
SKILL.
The relationship of work to skill demand is 1 to many also.
Users assign skills to resources using a master-detail form. It works fine
Users assign skills needed to work also using a master-detail form, and it works fine as well
A view then joins the skillset supply to skillset demand so that assignments can be made only where supply and demand match. This view is used in the LOV below.
I am using a mapping table to capture assignments of work to resources or resources to work. It is a many to many mapping of work and resources with matching skillsets, and it looks like this:
RSRC_ID
WORK_ID
DOMAIN (
TARGET ( These are the skillsets where demand equals supply and are derived from the view and presented in the LOV )
SKILL (I've created master-detail forms for the two types of assignments. An LOV in the detail form will present qualified resources or eligible work and then return the appropriate RSRC_ID or WORK_ID, but I must also populate the other three fields (DOMAIN, TARGET and SKILL) before I can insert or update the record. Here's the LOV from the form where resources are assigned to work:

I am running APEX 4.0.2.I am having an issue where I have a page item that has a post calculation
My source used is "Always..."
My source type is "Database Column"
I have tried putting the code in the page item under "Post Calculation Computation", as a dynamic action, and as a Computation Process. It displays properly on the form no matter where I put the code, but when I select Apply Changes it is not updating the database. What am I doing wrong? I have provided a sample of the code, and yes the column name is in the database.

My scenario is I need to insert into History table when a record is been updated into a tabular form(insert the updated record along with the additional columns Action_by,Action_type(Like Update or delete) and Action Date Into History table i.e History table contains all the records as the main table which is been visible in tabular form along with these additional columns ...Action_by,action_type and action_date.
So now i dont want to create a befor/after update trigger on base table rather i would like to create a generic procedure which will insert the updated record into history table taking the page alias and pade ID as the parameters(GENERIC procedure is nothing but whcih applies to all the tabular forms(Tables) contained int he application ).

I have to create a table which contain history of a main table. like this:

I've plan to so this by create a trigger in main_table. my problem is my main table have a lot of fields and I can't write a code to control it 1 by 1 like :

I decided to select column name from the data dictonary using this SQL:
SELECT column_name FROM user_tab_columns WHERE table_name = '<<Table Name>>';
and then do a loop over the resultset and use the column name I've got , like this (its just an idea, may be not a write syntax):

FOR i IN 1..:result.COUNT LOOP
if ld.colname[i] <> :new.colname[i]
INSERT INTO history
VALUES ( colname[i], ld.colname[i], :new.colname[i]);
END LOOP;

but I can't write a "old.colname". I try with " old.'colname' ", " ld.'colname' " but it won't work.how to create a history file like I've describe.

I have a history table which has a new record written to it for every time static data is updated. What I want to do is return any record that has been changed on a daily basis returning both the new record and the previous record so you can see the 2 records one below the other and compare.I have written the below but it returns all records per account:

I've a one history table in which I'm putting approval history data.
For any transaction id you may have more than one record with approval status APPROVED,REJECTED,ERRORED,OVERLIMIT etc
Another program selects records from this table by passing transaction_id. For transaction id, it needs to check the most recent approved record exist or not ? If it's there then updating the record by adding comments to comments field of the same record and then delete all other records for the same transaction id.
If it does not exist then delete all other records and create one with approved status?
What's the simple and best approach to do this (sql or pl/sql)?

Issue with Date format. I am having data in date column in History table like

'2012/08/15 17:00:00'
I am doing extract from this table to txt file. i want date fomrat in "YYYYMMDD HHMMSS".
i tried below query:
select to_char(to_date('1998/05/31 11:00:00 AM','yyyy/mm/dd hh24:mi:ss'),'YYYYMMDD HH24MMSS') from dual;But it is giving error like "ORA-01830: date format picture ends before converting entire input string".

I am using oracle 9i, and having trouble with updating a table.
I get ORA-00001(unique constraint) Error on executing the sql below; I know sql below is little strange( which use unique key in 'SET' statement) . but It worked on My Oracle Server. but it didn't on Client's.

I have an Oracle Form 6i. There are two blocks. One is a database block called CUSTOMER and the other is a non-database block called CONTROL.
In the PRE-INSERT trigger of the database block, values from the non-database table block are passed to the database table block. When I pass values I use the :BLOCK_NAME.field_name eg. :CUSTOMER.scale_code := :CONTROL.scale.
In this form the values passed to the database block from the non-database block in the PRE-INSERT trigger do not use the block name e.g. :-
:warehouse := :global.default_warehouse;
:capturer :=captured
:scale_code := scale;
:date_captured := sysdate;
insert into dd_audit(cus_id,cap_date) values(:CONTROL.cus_id,SYSDATE);
This application used to work fine for months, last week when writing the values in the PRE-INSERT trigger, just the warehouse field had a value. The remaining fields after the warehouse did not pass any values, although it was verified that values would have been present in the non-database block. The date_captured field should have at least had the system date. The last insert into dd_audit was successful.
I have done numerous tests on our test database and could not replicate the problem. Would passing the values from the non-database block to the database block without the :BLOCK_name preceding the field name cause this problem.

I am using arrays on this procedure but would like to use a WHILE LOOP to fill the array. The first element uses a balance forward amount unlike the next 11 elements so I would think I have no other choice for the first element.
jde_account_balances is the table name that stores the amounts.

Actually the value of the segment1 should be 9. But it has some junk characters and some extra characters.So I am using the following query to get all the error segment values.

I am trying to write a control file that will read information from two INFILES and update two tables with the different information via SQL Loader. I am using Oracle 11g on Linux. i am not sure how to take the result from the first insert query and use it as input to the second insert query. Currently I have the following control file:
LOAD DATA
INFILE 'table1.dat'
INFILE 'table2.dat'
APPEND
INTO TABLE table1
WHEN tid='1'
FIELDS TERMINATED BY ","
OPTIONALLY ENCLOSED BY '"'
(pid "pid.nextval", p_fname, p_lname, tid)

The pid in the second insert query should be taken from the pid generated in the first insert query. However, I do not know how to do this. Does SQL Loader run the first insert query for all entries in the table1.dat file and then the second insert query or will it do one record at a time? Here are my INFILES:

,John,Doe,1
,Joe,Smith,1
table2.dat
10,,abc,1,
11,,xyz,1,
The second field in table2.dat should be taken from the result of creating a record in the table1.dat. Is this something that can be achieved using SQL Loader? The first part of the control file is successful, I can see the table being updated with the contents on table1.dat, but the second query fails.

Oracle 11.2 - The goal is to create a trigger on table and anytime an update, delete or insert is done on the table, write values to a second table. I have the trigger and it works except it is not loading my col1/PK values. I understand I need to do a new/old value. how many rows certain tables have.
updating the statistics for a table (with GATER_TABLE_STATS) and using NUM_ROWS then. This works fine for me as long as I am the owner of the table, but when someone else is, I always get this error: ORA-20000: Table does not exist or insufficient privileges.what privileges do I need to use GATHER_ TABLE_ STATS on all Tables, which were created by Users?
when I tried to use ANALYZE TABLE TEST_TABLE COMPUTE STATISTICS on a certain table I got the following error: a view is not appropriate here. The strange thing is, TEST_TABLE is not a view (at least it is not listed in ALL_VIEWS and is listed in ALL_TABLES, so it cant be a view right?).
Besides, is there another way to gather Table Statistics (not using Analyze Table or Gather_Table_Stats)?

There are two tables:
create table songs(song_name text, song_artist text,song_url text, song_cat text, last_edit text);
create table categories(cat_name text, cat_total int);
im trying to create a trigger that, when i insert a new song in the songs table, it will check the category of the song (song_cat) and increase the respective cat_total (from table categories) by 1.
here is what i've done so far:
drop trigger countcat;
CREATE TRIGGER countcat AFTER INSERT ON songs FOR EACH ROW
update categories SET cat_total= cat_total +1
WHERE cat_name = (select song_cat FROM inserted);
What to write in the cat_name = (select ...). I have tried lots of stuff but still nothing. when i use this, i get the error that mydatabase.inserted doesnt exist

this is the correct syntax for updating a table with a select statement included. Table created easily and the alter table ran fine, but the update is running quite a log time.
My ultimate goal is to populate the "children" field with a count of children for each household id.

I am trying to learn Oracle and trying to use Visual Basic 7 to connect to an Oracle database, upload a text file to an empty table and then update a second Oracle table based on the info in the first table. I know you can do this with SQL*Loader, but how about VB? I have a situation where there are multiple records for a join criteria. I am trying to find a way to update a particular column for all the records returned by the join criteria. Example :

update query ? When I use a update statement with where exists it errors out because the query returns more than one row for the join condition.

Now i need to insert the data from this table to another table B, the sturcture of which is as below

How do i frame a query to fetch data from table A and insert that into table B? I don't want to use max and decode combination. as it would return only single row for an ID. I need all the id's to be displayed.

I create the sample for master/detail form. In detail for prdcode,rate,qty,amount is there. When select prdcode it fetching prdcode,rate in a record and if you type the qty the amout will come based on formula(property) :qty*:rate.
It is available on screen. But when i store the data, in backend table the amount is be a null.
