I can install multiple versions of Oracle databases 10GR2 and 11GR2 in a single node using a unique Oracle ASM single instance?
I created a user and granted connect, resource priviliges. I gave access to this user for only 5 tables. when i check it later, other tables are also given access. How can i avoid this and give access to selected tables.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI want to get clear with one thing yesterday i installed oracle9i and dev 2000 to my client.
when they run one report they got stuck with pl/sql compilation errorrep-1247
when i checked that report in the report builder, in the query they are using some other table which is not belongs to that schema, then I give that schema.tablename and compiled, but this is coming for other reports also, then only i came to know that they are acceessin other schema also, how can i sort this out.
can i fix this by givin full access privilige or what privilige can i give to get full access of other schema table.
how can i check in the old database what are all the roles and privileges given to this user,
User1 is having 10000 tables in his schema...How can i grant "select" on a all tables of a user1 to another schema(user2) so that in future when user1 will create tables , the user2 will have "select" access on those tables automatically.
I dont want user2 to have "select any table" privillege.
User2 should not have "drop" privillege on his own tables.
I have an automated process which runs on an Oracle 8i database server as user abc. This process creates views/tables in other schemas, on the same database server, which point to objects owned by the abc user.
The issue I'm getting is that when I try to execute GRANT SELECT ON xyz.view123 TO PUBLIC as the abc user, I get an insufficient privileges.I should add that the abc user created the xyz.view123 table/view.
What grants/priviliges or whatever do I have to do to the abc schema?
I have two schema named ODI_MASTER and ODI_WORK.Under ODI_WORK there are some tables like TEMP1, TEMP2
Further more when any new tables will create under ODI_WORK, then i need automatically grant select permission to ODI _MASTER schema.
for this purpose i choose trigger, and a Stored procedure.
CREATE OR REPLACE TRIGGER ODI_WORK.TRIG1
AFTER CREATE ON ODI_WORK.SCHEMA
ENABLE
call sp1 (ora_login_user)
[code]...
I searched a lot over blogs, if EXECUTE IMMEDIATE commands exist under Trigger it gets problem. Insert/update/delete statement on trigger seems no problem.
Using suppress triggers options in golden gate. I was trying to work on the same but it doesn't seem to work at least for me.
Scenario:
Database Version 11.2.0.2
GoldenGate v11
OS Windows
Created two databases on the same server with same schmea idea was to replicate change from one database to other. One of the tables in the source database had trigger(every insertion in the table would cause a row to be inserted into a diff table). if row was inserted in table A it will insert a new row in table B . the same records will pass on target but the trigger defined on table A should not trigger on target as it has already fired on Source .
I tried using suppresstriggers but it doesnt seem to work everytime the trigger is getting fired on target database.
CODEReplicat process
replicat repname
assumetargetdefs
userid gguser@bbb password Oracle
dboptions suppresstriggers
map x.* ,target x.* (since same schema)
The extract files, pump files and replication are working fine.I also used the dbms_goldengate_auth.grant_admin_privilege for gguser.
Also I noticed when I give the dboptions suppresstriggers replication process doesnt startup with unrecognised word message when i give dboptions suppress triggers the replicat process does start is this the way it should be.i have gone through the docs and it should be supresstriggers.
I had installed Oracle 11g R1 on windows system where Oracle 10g R2 also installed. As I required both versions parallel on same server, both are installed on different Oracle homes.
Configured listener.ora & tnsnames.ora files on 11g (path) with 10g details also in same file, checked the listener status, its READY & windows services also started but now only I am able to connect Oracle 11g & not able to connect Oracle 10g.
how to configure so that I can able to connect both VERSIONS separately on the same server.
Dose any shell script that would be able to set the oracle_home & the listeners based on the versions of software on the box?

Currently we have oracle 10.2.0.4.0 installed on AIX server, can we install oracle 11gR2 on the same server under on user, & both the versions will be in use.
How to manage the profile of the user having 2 oracle versions on AIX & on windows how to handle it.
We are migratingfrom [IBM P5 - AIX 5.3 - Oracle DB 10.2.0.1 64bit]to [IBM P7 - AIX 6.1 - Oracle DB 10.2.0.5 64bit]
The new database is already up and running, our next step now is the following:
1. Create Tablespaces (done)
2. Export the Database from P5
3. Import the dump to P7.
We have this following options:
I. Use a Windows XP workstation 32bit with Oracle 10.2.0.1 Database software to export from P5, then import the dump to P7. (Export/Import Utility 10.2.0.1 Windows 32bit)
II. Use the Export Utility of the P7 (10.2.0.5 AIX 64bit) to do the export and import.
III. Use the Export Utility of P5 (10.2.0.1 AIX 64bit) then use the Import Utility of P7 (10.2.0.5 AIX 64bit)
BTW, our colleague tried to do the following:
A. Use Windows - Export Utility 10.1.0.2.0 - 32bit to make a dump of our database (Oracle 10.2.0.1.0 AIX 64bit)
B. Use Windows - Import Utility 10.1.0.2.0 - 32bit to import the dump file from step A to our new database (Oracle 10.2.0.1.0 AIX 64bit)
But after issuing imp system/password@NEWDB file=(a.dmp, b.dmp... c.dmp) full=y ignore=y statistics=none
The import seems to hang here...importing SYSTEM's objects into SYSTEM
is there a oratab file in window versions of oracle 11g xe?I found out that, oratab is:
associate with ORACLE_SID, ORACLE_HOME value, and you can input parameter like:
orcl:/opt/oracle/product/10.2.0/db_1:Y
to allow the datebase to be started when the server reboot.I am thinking for window versions, they are using 'SERVICES' right? That's why no oratab files?
I have two users say A and B. I have all the tables, views, indexes, types, procedures, packages etc. User B wants to access all the objects from user A.

I have cloned the database into another using DBMS_METADTA API (export the metadata in xml form and recreate it on destination). I need to synch these two periodically. I need to update the XML to synchronize the databases.

if you are using ShadowProtect to backup your Oracle databases. What are your experiences and the pros and cons in using ShadowProtect as the one and only backup/recovery tools for Oracle databases? Can the potential of ShadowProtect replaces the commonly use Oracle backup/recovery tools?
The reason why I raise this question is because my boss has the idea that ShadowProtect is THE best backup/recovery tools. Personally I don't think so, because there can be cases where we only need to recover the database and not the whole OS.

View 11 Replies View RelatedI have 2 separate servers each with oracle database installed.I am trying to pull oracle logs from these 2 databases to my main linux server using perl DBI. On this linux server I have 1 dbipoll.pl script and 2 wrapper scripts that pass in parameters to dbipoll.pl.
Here is the sample wrapper script that I've used to call dbipoll.pl(separate script with different parameters for each databases used):
CODE#!/bin/sh
#
export ORACLE_HOME=/ora-main/app/oracle/product/11.1.0.6/db
export ORACLE_SID=rmdev1
export LD_LIBRARY_PATH=$ORACLE_HOME/lib:$ORACLE_HOME
#
[code]....
As you can see,the script should retrieve logs and write to oracledb1.log and update the countfile1 with the latest timestamp. The wrapper scripts are scheduled to run at 5mins interval.
The first wrapper script, which I've named as call_dbipoll1.sh runs fine. I am able to retrieve events and both oracledb1.log and countfile1 are successfully updated.
However, the second wrapper script,call_dbipoll2.sh is successful only for the first run. For subsequent runs,I've noticed that countfile2 does not get updated with the latest timestamp(ie. the file returns to blank) and oracledb2.log returns to blank as well. Therefore,am unable to pull new events then. Unable to determine what went wrong here..
Here is sample of my second wrapper script that tries to retrieve events from the 2nd database:
CODE#!/bin/sh
#
export ORACLE_HOME=/ora-main/app/oracle/product/11.1.0.6/db
export ORACLE_SID=rmdev2
export LD_LIBRARY_PATH=$ORACLE_HOME/lib:$ORACLE_HOME
