SQL & PL/SQL :: Trigger Fired - Final Update To Base Table Not Happening
Jul 1, 2011
In my DB,We have a table rqst_list
Create table rqst_list(id Number, --(PK)
pkg_name varchar2(100),
status varchar2(100))
When a record is inserted into this table(rqst_list), a trigger is fired which calls the package which is there in pkg_name.The function does some function.If there are no exceptions while executing the package, then SUCCESS needs to be updated in the table for the id for which the trigger got fired.I have used AFTER INSERT ROW level trigger.
But,the final UPDATE (UPDATE the rqst_list table to SUCCES/FAILURE)to the base table inside the package is not happening.
There is a Table, on that table there are 2 triggers are written 1) row level trigger 2) statement level trigger. Now i am inserting one row into that table, so which trigger will be fired first and why?
I have an update trigger that runs a package when fired. I only want this package to run if it is NOT fired from an Oracle Forms application. Ie. A user might update table ABC from an Oracle Form. In this instance the trigger would fire, but I don't want to run the package within the trigger. If the user logs onto PL/SQL developer and updates the table, the trigger would fire and the package must run.
I was thinking of using the field 'program' from v$session. If it is null (it's being fired from an Oracle Forms application) if it has a value (it's coming from SQL*Plus / Pl/sql Developer).
I have a base table (Table A) block with multiple records displayed. I need to track audits to this underlying table in the following way:
If user updates a field in the block I want the pre-changed record's audit fields to be set and I need to create a copy of the record with the changed values. Basically any changes will result in the record being logically deleted, and a copy record created with the newly changed values.
Tried to implement in the block's pre-update trigger which will call a package to directly update Table A then Insert into Table A, then requery the block. Is there a clean and efficient way to do this?
On a form I have 2 blocks, shown on different tabs. Relation created by forms wizard. The relation works great when navigating through the blocks, the details for the master are shown fine.
Example for this form is master block is a type of food. Detail block is list of ingredients.When creating a new type of food, if it's = CAKE we insert records based on a select on another table into the ingredients table.Else, the user has to manually create the ingredients.
Upon commit of the form on master block (must be saved to enable detail block tab), the ingredients are not displayed but are there. If I execute query by hitting F8, the records are present.
Why is the populate-details trigger not being fired or what am I missing?
i want to create a trigger that will update a table when there is an insert or update.i can't across this error that i don't even know what it means "table %s.%s is mutating, trigger/function may not see it".
*Cause: A trigger (or a user defined plsql function that is referenced in this statement) attempted to look at (or modify) a table that was in the middle of being modified by the statement which fired it.
*Action: Rewrite the trigger (or function) so it does not read that table.
CREATE OR REPLACE TRIGGER set_date_end BEFORE INSERT OR UPDATE OF issued ON shares_amount FOR EACH ROW DECLARE BEGIN INSERT INTO shares_amount(date_end) VALUES(SYSDATE); END set_date_end; /
I am ceating a trigger to...when I update or insert a record in table and if salary of that record is less than 1600 than it should be updated to 2000. My trigger is
CREATE or REPLACE TRIGGER myTrigger BEFORE UPDATE OR INSERT ON newemp FOR EACH ROW BEGIN
[code]...
There are no errors with trigger while compiling, but when I update or insert a record, it does not update the table. It looks like the trigger is being ignored.
i have created a trigger on a table after update. i am using if condition if the condition is true i am passing a value and then inserting into audit table.
if(condtion) L_change_type='value' end if; if(condtion) L_change_type='value' end if; if(condtion) L_change_type='value' end if; if(condtion) L_change_type='value' end if;
Then i am inserting
Insert into audit_table(change_type.....) values(..L_change_type)...)
If i want to skip the insert statement for particular condition wt i have to do.
In the trigger I am calling a procedure that returns an error if there is any error returned from procedure. I have to update the table table1's column error_desc (for the same new inserted record for which the trigger was called) with the error received by OUT parameter of procedure called in trigger. I have to update the same record on whose insert this trigger was called.
We would like to create functions to insert and update our tables and would like to make it not possible to update and insert the table directly outside of the function. Is there a way to do that in the trigger?
I stumbled about some weird 11gR2 behavior (running on AIX).When I performed a join between a table with user based content (parts belonging to an sourcing scope) and a base table (parts available) whereas the parts have to fulfill a special regular expression, it showed that the same query is faster when using outer join than inner join (about 0.7sec vs. 20sec; which makes me believe that regexp_like works wrong when involved in an inner join).
i tried the same statement with a standard like (but not fulfilling the same condition).This time performance was as expected (inner join outperforming outer join).
Oracle version information Oracle Database 11g Enterprise Edition Release 11.2.0.2.0 - 64bit Production PL/SQL Release 11.2.0.2.0 - Production CORE 11.2.0.2.0 Production TNS for IBM/AIX RISC System/6000: Version 11.2.0.2.0 - Production NLSRTL Version 11.2.0.2.0 - Production [code]...
I can see it, the execution plan for the "inner join" doesn't show so much more costs than the one for the outer (but why at all is does an inner join cost more?) ...The execution plan for both "not like" is the same and (surprisingly ;-) ) similar to "outer-regexp".
I hope sample data are not needed as there would be needed a lot...this is the second time I came across the "plan worse but execution time better" phenomenon.
insert into test_compound values ('user1','1',systimestamp); insert into test_compound values ('user2','2',systimestamp-4); insert into test_compound values ('user3','3',systimestamp-6);
CREATE OR REPLACE TRIGGER trigger_test FOR UPDATE ON test_compound COMPOUND TRIGGER TYPE t_tab IS TABLE OF VARCHAR2(50); l_tab t_tab := t_tab(); [code].......
When I execute :
update test_compound set last_updated_on=systimestamp where userid='user1' and app='1';
The trigger should update the first row and all the data from test_compound table where userid='user1'. Maybe the problem is that updating the same table inside the trigger is firing in a recursive way the trigger.
I have one schema argus_app where there is a table cfg_enterprise. There is a view v$cfg_enterprisewhich selects data from cfg_enterprise and there is apublic synonym cfg_enterprise for v$cfg_enterprise.
When I login to argus_app and select from cfg_enterprise there is no data where as i log in to sys and select I can see data.
SQL> conn /as sysdba Connected. SQL> select enterprise_name from cfg_enterprise;
I'm trying to select some data from table base on SYSDATE. The below query does not return any data.
My query is:
select count(TICKET_ID) "ECEMEA" from QTMT_TICKETS where STATUS_ID=1 and TEAM_ID=3 and RECEIVED_DATE=sysdate
why this does not work? Date format in my application is: DD-MMM-YY (16-AUG-12). In the database the dates are stored in this format: MM/DD/YYYY (08/25/2012). Does it mean, that I have to play with the format?
I encrypted the column but when i check through strings command the data is still not encrypted,i created the wallet etc etc,set proper path in sqlnet.ora
I have one table with one row with some coefficients. If I update a coefficient from my table I want to be updated all the rows from another table. I've made a trigger but in the second table I have a column for example TOTAL and I want that column to be multiplied with my new coefficient, and I want this for every row in the second table. How I can select that total column in the trigger for every single row and update it?
