SQL & PL/SQL :: Declare Date Variable And Assign It To Current System Date

Apr 19, 2011

Write a program to declare a date variable and assign it to the current system date. Depending on the day of the month the program should print the following:

If day is 1-10 then print "It is day<day number> of <month name>. It is early in the month".
If day is 11-20 then print "It is day<day number> of <month name>. It is the middle of the month".
If day is 21-31 then print "It is day<day number> of <month name>. It is nearly the end of the month".

For example, if the day is November 30, then print "It is day 30 of November. It is nearly the end of the month".

However I would like to extract only the string "test" which is inputted. Is there any build-in function in oracle which will satisfy this requirement?

SQL & PL/SQL :: How To Call Function Using String Variable

I also have a stored procedure called query_builder, query_builder has applicationName and statementName as parameters. I need to call these functions in the package based on the given applicationname and statementname.

CREATE OR REPLACE PROCEDURE Query_builder (ApplicationName varchar2, StatementName varchar2) IS

PackageName := ApplicationName||'_SKELETON;
SQLSkeleton := PackageName.StatementName; -- I know this will not work, but how can i call these function dynamically?

SQL & PL/SQL :: Executing Function From String Variable

Oct 2, 2013

I'm trying to find a simple way of getting around this. I have a PL/SQL procedure which loops through a list of values in a table. These values are the actual names of the functions I want it to run in sequence. The problem is I can get the string value each time but I need to store the return value of each function into a number variable e.g.

BEGIN
open all_tests;
fetch all_tests BULK COLLECT INTO test_tabl;
close all_tests;

for myindex IN 1..test_tabl.count LOOP

time_taken := test_source1 ==> this will work but how do I avoid hardcoding the name of the function to be executed and use the test_name value instead?? time_taken is declared as a number (ie the return value of each function is a number)

test_detail := test_tabl(myindex).test_name; ==> test_detail now contains the string name of the function
dbms_output.put_line('Test detail is ' || test_detail);
end loop;

Application Express :: Pass Header Variable From OAM To Apex And Read It In Application?

Mar 4, 2013

We have integrated Oracle Access Manager 11gR1 with Oracle Apex 4.1. The OAM-Apex integration is working fine. Now we want an additional header variable to be passed from OAM to the Apex application. This new header variable will be user's sAMAccountName in Active Directory. OAM is integrated with AD and the AD users are successfully able to access the Apex applications.

The three header variables which are configure in OAM right now are:
Header variable name Value
1. OAM_REMOTE_USER $user.userid
2. OAM_REMOTE_USER_EMAIL $user.attr.mail
3. OAM_REMOTE_USER_GROUPS $user.groups

We need an additional header variable as mentioned below:
Header variable name: OAM_SAMACCOUNTNAME
Value: $user.attr.samaccountname

The new header variable was added in the OHS server's dads.conf file like shown below:
=========== dads.conf =============
...
PlsqlCGIEnvironmentList HTTP_OAM_REMOTE_USER
PlsqlCGIEnvironmentList HTTP_OAM_REMOTE_USER_GROUPS
PlsqlCGIEnvironmentList HTTP_OAM_REMOTE_USER_EMAIL
PlsqlCGIEnvironmentList HTTP_OAM_SAMACCOUNTNAME

But we are not able to read the value of this attribute in the Apex application.On the Apex application, we have a text box which shows the value of this header variable. This textbox is attached with the following stored procedure call to fetch the header variable:
===================
begin
:P1_HEADER_VALUE := owa_util.get_cgi_env( 'HTTP_OAM_SAMACCOUNTNAME' );
end;

The textbox shows the correct value if HTTP_OAM_REMOTE_USER is passed to the get_cgi_env method but does not shows anything when HTTP_OAM_SAMACCOUNTNAME is passed to the same method. if I am missing some configuration to pass the HTTP_OAM_SAMACCOUNTNAME haeder variable from OAM to Apex.

am new to oracle based coding and am having a heck of a time trying to figure this out. Basically i need to declare 2 date variables, Begin date and End Date.

I then need an if statement that says if begin date = 0 or is null then set it to the first day of the previous month. and if end date = 0 or is null then set it to the last day of the previous month.

So for today 5/26/2010 i would need

begin date = 4/1/2010
end date = 4/30/2010

I have searched and tried but so far to no avail.

UPDATE Date / Literal Doesn't Match Format String

where line 4 is REQ_EVENT_DATE = TO_CHAR(REQ_EVENT_DATE - INTERVAL '1' HOUR, 'yyyy-mm-dd hh24:mi').The REQ_EVENT_DATE field was originally populated with this stripped down query:

$date = '2007-12-25 08:35'; INSERT INTO (REQ_EVENT_DATE) VALUES (to_date('$date', 'yyyy-mm-dd hh24:mi'));

So - what is wrong with the UPDATE query?

125323-May-0725-May-07
333102-Jan-0904-Jan-09
333217-Mar-0917-Mar-09

As you can see, it's split the entries into date ranges. If there is a 'lone' date, the 'period start' and the 'period end' are the same date.
