SQL & PL/SQL :: Nested Query Based On Value Of Dependent Column?

In the below Table Structure, TB_Vehicles is the Master table and TB_Cars, TB_Bikes, TB_Cars are Satellite tables which hold more info about respective vehicles.
I want users to search using the Name. So, when users enter Name as 'Access', my query should give all information about that vehicle, including that from Satellite Tables (using both TB_Vehicles and TB_Scooters).
SELECT *
FROM TB_Vehicles
WHERE V_NAME = 'Access';
Similarly, if user enters 'Linea', it should give info from TB_Vehicles and TB_Cars tables.
So, with V_NAME as input, I'll find V_TYPE from TB_Vehicles table, and using that, I need to identify which satellite table, I need to join to retrieve more info.
Do I need to use CASE or DECODE to achieve this?

I am trying to create and update query to use as a trigger for updating information in a database which is dependent upon time.
I have a severity level which needs to be decreased in value after a set amount of time. the time of the action is recorded automatically on the creation of the the record. after an hour anything at severity level 2 needs to go up to 1, after 2 hours level 3 goes up to 2 and 3 hours level 4 goes up to 3
so far this is what I have
UPDATE calllog
SET timedate = current_timestamp, severityid = severityid - 1
WHERE ((severityid = 2 and timedate >= current_timestamp + (1/24)) or
(severityid = 3 and timedate >= current_timestamp + (2/24)) or
(severityid = 4 and timedate >= current_timestamp + (3/24)))
I am not getting any errors back from this sql but it is not updating the relevent information. I am using one cell for time and date in format = DD-MON-YYYY HH24:MM:SS.

I loop through the 1st cursor (account_csr), while in the 1st csr loop, based on some conditions being true, I want to loop through a 2nd cursor (acctper_csr) but I only want to retrieve data/rows in the 2nd cursor where the account_id column in 1st cursor = account_id column in the 2nd cursor. This will enable me to pull all the account_periods for each account I loop through in the first cursor.
I have attempted several different ways and cannot make this work. Thought I could somehow define a variable and store the account_id from 1st cursor and use on the 'where' clause in the 2nd cursor definition. Have not been able to make this work successfully.
Following is the sample of my

Is there a way we could define a record or a nestedtable with a type based on weak refursor i.e
TYPE RC IS REF CURSOR;
C2 RC;
Type t is table of c2%rowtype;
Following is some more explanation of what I am trying to do.
I have a table T with column A and B. Column A is a primary key with number 1,2,3,4,5,6, Column B has diffrent sql stmts stored. i.e 'Select * from emp', Select count(1) from dept' and so on. So table will look like
1 Select * from emp
2 Select count(1) from dept
Now I want to select statements stored in table T one by one and execute them by using cursor. Problem arises as i need to fetch the cursor into some variable but the outcome of each statment is diffrent and oracle does not allow to use cursorname%rowtype for a weak ref cursor.

I have a query regarding nested tables while exporting. Are we not allowed to use Query clause during the export of nested table?
I am getting the error:
"EXP-00053: unable to execute QUERY on table NT_LP_COREBAL_MAINT because the table has inner nested tables
Export terminated successfully with warnings."
The exp command we are using is:
exp XXXX/XXXX@XXXX file=test1.dmp log=test1.log tables=nt_lp_corebal_maint query='where domain_id=10110307'.

I need to incorporate a count of the number of units from TableG that have a certain status. I tried the following but when I tried to run it, I get an error saying that it's not a Group By expression -the red part is highlighted in TOAD.

i have two questions.
(1) how can i fill some value in a table column based on some existing column value automatically without user intervention. my actual problem is i have 'expiry date' column and 'status'. the 'status' column should get filled automatically based on the current system date. ex: if expiry date is '25-Apr-2011' and current date is '14-May-2011', then status should be filled as 'EXPIRED'
(2)hOw can i build 'select' query in a report (report 6i) so that it will show me list of items 'EXPIRED' or 'NOT EXPIRED' or both expired and not expired separately in a single report based on user choice. 'EXPIRED' & 'NOT EXPIRED' can be taken from the above question no. 1.

I'm joinging two tables event_types and tmp_acc tables.
event_types contains 2 Billion records
tmp_acc contains 20,000 records.
Resulting rows are about 300,000 records in event_types table end_t and account_obj_id0 are joined indexed
no indexs in tmp_acc.
When I run below query with nexted loop it takes 6 hrs to complete. But when I run with hash join even after 4 days it was still running. what is wrong with hash join here. Why it takes so long. I'm joining only 20000 rows. So I think there should be a way to get result rows quickly.

I want to Validate all Objects in a schema which are Invalid, after some initial investigation I found a package UTL_RECOMP,If any remote Object is changed, then the local dependent object is not Invalidated at that moment, so will this Package UTL_RECOMP recompile that local object as well.

Is it possible to decode based off a different column? I have a status column that i want to change the value of with a decode, but only if my date column has been populated.
So if status has a value of "New" and my date column is null, then i want it to stay new. If it is populated, i want my status to change to "released"

I have a select statement

and it returns a result such as

what I want to do is create an output that takes the value in the qty column and repeates the number of rows e.g. the alan record 5 times and the bert record 3 times

I have a data in one table with 6 columns where user may be updating values in all of these 6 columns or he may enter 3 or 4 columns based on that inserts should take place, this is similar to my previous thread , i am using if condition to check column for null if its not null then i will make a insert , but is there any other easier way to do this.

I have a column transaction Number . It has the transaction number of goods sold.. Below is the sample.

My Query :
I need to substr the transaction number which starts with PIT to susbst (trxno,1,12) .. and anything other than PIT i need full number without substr . But when i use the above code :" susbstr(trxno,1,12) ..": it will substr entire column,. Is there any way to substr only PIT and leave others,
