SQL & PL/SQL :: Merge Rows On View

Aug 19, 2012

I have problem with merging rows into view. I have created "INSTEAD OF" triggers on the view for insert/delete/update of rows. However, the merge is not working and it needs rowid to work. Is there any way how to make MERGE working here ? I must use merge, because I am changing the structure of database used for large java application. And it uses tons of merge commands, changing them to insert/update is inefficient because of development-time and of course resulting execution-time.

create table val_00 (
id number(10),
data varchar2(100),
constraint pk_val_00 primary key (id) validate
) organization index;
[code]....

PL/SQL :: How To Add Or Merge 2 Rows Together In Result Set

What is the easiest way to add 2 rows together? I need this results set below as is except I need rows with activity codes 0 and 30 to be merged together into Activity Code 0. So, Regular hours would be 7466.75. Do I need to do a Union or is there a more elegant solution?

My current sql results set looks something like this:

How to merge multiple rows into single row (but multiple columns) efficiently.

For example

where different attributes mean different thing for each Information_type. For example for Information_Type=Location

Attribute_1 means Country

Now my question , i need to create a view which will have all the rows from these tables ,in the current case it is something like

create or replace view sample
as
select * from SUB1 union all
select * from SUB2

How can this be achived. I tried as shown below:

spool file_to_exe.sql
select 'select * from ' || AA ||' union all ' from Main_table;
spool off

i will end up in a union all "extra" , if i do like this.

how can achieve this ?..

SQL & PL/SQL :: Materialized View - How To Capture / Convert MV Log Deltas To Real Rows

Jun 27, 2013

We have a requirement where we need to publish only the delta/changes made to an existing materialized view. This MV is fast refreshed over a db link. Since, MV will have all the data, we won't

1] Created MV Log

CREATE MATERIALIZED VIEW LOG ON SHRTS_FLNG_PRCSD

INCLUDING NEW VALUES;

2] Create MV

CREATE MATERIALIZED VIEW MV_SHRTS_FLNG_PRCSD (ITRTN_NB,UNQ_ID,XCHNG_ORG_ID,FLNG_ST,MAX_PRCSD_ITRTN_NB,SBMTD_SCRTS_AM,SBMTD_PSTN_AM)
BUILD IMMEDIATE
REFRESH FAST ON DEMAND
WITH PRIMARY KEY
AS

[code]....

3) I can see deltas on MV logs.

UNQ_IDITRTN_NBSEQUENCE$$SNAPTIME$$DMLTYPE$$OLD_NEW$$CHANGE_VECTOR$$XID$$
{FDE35AAC-E749-4507-972F-F26F5982E046}121/1/4000UU28002.81485714140869E15

4) I have created a temp table to capture the diff between MV and newly inserted Deltas. I have added SEQ_NB column using Oracle sequence to capture the diff

CREATE TABLE MKT_CMPLC.TMP_SHRTS_FLNG_PRCSD
(
ITRTN_NB NUMBER(2) NOT NULL,
UNQ_ID CHAR(38 BYTE) NOT NULL,
XCHNG_ORG_ID NUMBER(8) NOT NULL,
FLNG_ST VARCHAR2(9 BYTE),

[code]....

5) I have refreshed the MV

exec dbms_mview.refresh('MV_SHRTS_FLNG_PRCSD');

6) In order to capture the new inserts, I am using following DML

INSERT INTO tmp_SHRTS_FLNG_PRCSD SELECT ITRTN_NB,
UNQ_ID,
XCHNG_ORG_ID,
FLNG_ST,
MAX_PRCSD_ITRTN_NB,
SBMTD_SCRTS_AM,

[code]....

We need only delta records. Is there any way to extract actual rows from MV logs.

Merge Operation By ROW-ID?

Sep 8, 2011

run down of the implications of MERGE by ROWID in such a fashion:

CODE        MERGE
        INTO   XXWT_AP_ACCRUALS_RECEIPT_F EXT
        USING  (
                 SELECT PO_DISTRIBUTION_ID,

[code]...

Can this lead to an "Unstable Set of Rows?". Is it possible for the ROWID's to change during the execution of this statement - meaning certain ROWIDs identified in the SELECT will not actually be updated when it comes to the MERGE operation?

Basically, is it sound practice to use ROWID to merge on - in cases where you dont have a WHEN NOT MATCHED condition?

Creating Materialized View On Remote Simple View

Dec 11, 2012

I'm trying to create a Materialized View on a remote database from a simple view. The reason is, the data owners don't want to grant explicit tables privileges to external subscribers.

A new schema is created to publish data in the form of a view. I've created mlogs on the master tables, and granted them to the subscriber, but it's still complaining about a missing primary key on the view. A primary key does exist in the master table.

Is there another work around for this situation without having to work inside the data sources' environment?

SQL & PL/SQL :: Change View Definition When Select Is Running On That View

Apr 25, 2012

We wrote one data load process to load GZ files into Database.during process we will change client facing view definitions to backup table so that we can work on base tables.

This view definition changes are related to FROM and WHERE clause (not columns/type). during load process, client/user may connect to current server and accessing these views. My question is what will be the reflection of changing view definition while user is accessing view?

I created a scenario-
STEP1: Created a view-
create or replace view view_01 as
select object_name from dba_objects union all
select object_name from dba_objects union all
select object_name from dba_objects union all
[code]....

View definition is replaced by new definition while select is executing on that view. select returned number of records as per view definition one.
