View 15 RepliesI have a database in access 2003 with the empno,empname and photo (bounded image). Using queries and an ODBC connection I have inserted the table into Oracle 8i (8.1.7). When I try to read the data using reports I get 'REP-1818 Unable to read data in image format.' error for the photo field.

write a java class that build this Excel.. oracle procedure loop around the data and every step my Java class write on Excel file.
So, for this i should initialize my java class for example

So, for this issuse i should call the ExcelExporter costructor from my PL/SQL so i can create an object of it and next i use this to populate my Excel.

I'm studying abt SQL*Loader. All I've learn it needs to have:
1. One text input file
2.Control file
3.Bad file...
But I'm confused where to put the input file...where to put the control file in which format and in control file what should I write...

we have a created primary and physical standby databases. Before the switchover the application connected to dataguard allows updates on the database. However after the switchover, it allows read-only access and we are unable to update. Any comments prima-facie ?

every week i need to extract data from these tables into excel files and i need to save those in shared drive for team use.
Currently i am connecting to database every time running sql query and manually exporting that latest data to excel and saving that as excel files in (G: eamcommon) folder with specific name.
output format should be :
excel (.xls)
file names should - countries.xls,sites.xls,states.xls
server name : ap21
output location : G: eamcommon ( G is shared drive).
i heard that we could create batch file to do this task and also we could use oracle procedure to do this task. but not sure which one is the best option.
ORA-06502...I have database on oracle 9i on Solaris 9. I create a generate procedure that create dynamic procedure through DBMS_SQL. On this database I got the ORA-06502 error. When I tried to run the same procedure on the same database on oracle 8i on NT this work fine.

Last week I found that using the deletexml() to delete a node in the xml may cause a terrible problem that the rest data in the database had wrong xml format. I wonder is it a bug when using binary xml storage. My xml data is describe below,

I using deletexml() to delete just a node once time, "update projects set object_value=deletexml(object_value, '/root/nodes/node[@id="1"]')" Usually it successes and the rest data is as expected, but sometime, I find that after deleting a node, any query in the database except "select * from projects" gets null. And the rest data has wrong format like below,
<root> <nodes> <node id="1"> <name>John</name> <age>/hobby> </node> <node id="2"> <name>Alex</name> <age>22</age> <hobby>table tenisl</hobby> </node> ..... <nodes></root>
Just one format error causes the whole xml data valueless, but it seems that in most time the deletexml() works well.

excel sheet is not CSV file, so SQL Loader is not using

i have this stored procedures:

that works well in little XML files but in XML files that are bigger the stored procedures to not work because string maximum length in Oracle is 4000.
im working with Oracle SQL Developer and Sap Mii, the XML file is generated in Sap Mii and then i have to pass it in one step to database..

I want to Copy a data from One oracle database to another.
I have checked Import/Export Utility but the problem is import utility doesn't support conflicts resolution techniques between rows.
For Example if there's a table in the source database have the same row key in the destination database. if i use 'Ignore' parameter with value = y, the destination table will have a duplicate rows.
I want to ask if there's another way to import data from oracle database to another with some mechanism of detecting the conflicts and resolve them?

and i attached the .ctl file. and .csv file is stored on same directory as .ctl file, why oracle couldn't find the .ctl file.

We have a requirement to create a file using UTL_FILE package. so we tried to generate the file in directory at UNIX level,for example "/tmp" which means when we executing the stored procedure which in turn calls UTL_FILE package and create a file say "a.txt". On checking the permission for "a.txt", it shows as follows
-rw-r----- oracle dba a.txt
this means read and write for oracle user, read for dba group and no permission for other user.
our requirement is to have the following privileges at UNIX level.
-rw-r--r-- oracle dba a.txt

I am migrating data from a Solid Database to Oracle, I am using Flat Files to do that.
1.- I download the data to flat files from Solid
2.- I move the files to Oracle server
3.- I upload the data to Oracle
Now, I have done the 90% of the data base, but I have found some tables that has description columns and in this description the users writes enters, so when I try to upload the data to Oracle SQL loader cannot recognize this characters.

I need loading date formats using sqlldr. I am trying to load some data from another source into our Oracle database, however, the "date" field includes extra characters that i'm trying to deal with. For reference, I'm running Oracle 11.2 on Linux 5.7.
First, the actual date input is:
April 18, 2013 8:50:44 AM EDTI tried to input it a few ways but was unable to load it until I physically removed the "AM EDT" from the input string.
My first question is if there is a way to RTRIM and get rid of those extra characters. Either that, or I need a way to convert the "AM EDT" into our standard date format.
My control file has the following:
LASTCHANGEDAT date "Month dd, YYYY HH MI SS",This will load the data, but only if I strip out the "AM EDT" from the actual data input which is not feasible.
Also, how would I handle date that comes in as: April 18, 2013 3:50:44 PM EDT
Also, I tried the following, but it gives me a different error:
LASTCHANGEDAT "to_date(:LASTCHANGEDAT,'DD-MON-YYYY HH24:MI:SS')",
gives me error:

plsql package with a procedure or function that can format sql code. I am looking for two things:
1) I want to pass a sqlid or (address,hash_value,child_number) to a package fuction/procedure and have it return the sql from v$sqltext in a formatted manner.
2) I want to pass a sql statement to a routine and get it back formatted.
I don't need lots of flexibility in how it is formatted, don't really care if commas are leading or trailing, don't care if indentation is 2,3,4 spaces. I just want something readable.
Am willing to take any set of datatypes for parameters. A refcursor going in or coming out, clob in or out, varchar2 in or out. Anything is better than what I got now cause right now I am limited to cut/paste into Toad or a web page. I am looking for a callable plsql routine. An oracle supplied package would be nice but they have never provide this to my knowledge.
I have two node rac running on SAN with ASM , i want to configure a single instance standby database for this.
